The American people can't put the right 535 people into Congres and the Senate when the MEDIA and the lack of campaign finance reform result in only 2 choices for leaders every election that are known to the people. The problem is we need to fix the system desperately before it's too late and the future of citizens are too dumb and educated ever after to take control.

@ESponge2000 well voting is the only way we can change the government, we can't fire them. it seems like the public is getting dumber everday. so in about 15 to 20 years the government will be able to take over the USA and turn it into a communist state that is what the democrats are going for, they want a union that is governed by the government.
And we have staggared elections: instead of the WHOLE congress up (house and senate) only a portion on senate seats are up every term. this is good/bad. In UK they have a snap election=clean house. all seats and PM. and there is no 3 month lame duck "smell the roses" Your ass is out the next day.
@rosemarie443 yeah i would agree: maximum of 6 consecutive house terms (12 years) AND maximum of 2 senate terms (12 years). but not necessarily life term limited. so you would have to sit 1 term out to allow for competition. this would also allow voters to re-instate (if they wish) a popular congressman/senator after their limits are up

the founders made us a presidential system because it is ineffective, slow, and cumbersome. As opposed to the British Parliamentary system: 1 house (i dont count Lords) with clear rules. Our system has crazy rules: the filibuster. 2/3 majorities for issues. and a majority is not enough nowadays. And throw judicial "review" in there and executive orders=its a cluster F---.
And as conservative as I am, we still must remember: the PEOPLE chose congress/senate/pres. we dont always speak clearly. and frankly I do get tired of people blaming congress. WE stick 535 folks with different ideas in a room and say "no clear majorities...work it out", and then WE blame THEM. No. The buck stops here: We the People.
folks, i am a Bush supporter, republican as well. I am opposed to Pres Obama, but I take the man at his word that he is a Christian. Although his views on abortion, etc dont reflect that. But I dont think questioning someone;s faith is going to help us. Question his terrible policies, programs and build up the Republican party. Reagan, Bush, Nixon...none would do this. Civility is needed....on both sides.

The theme of "God Bless America" is not supposed to be asking God to bless the people of America in contrast to the rest of the world, rather praising the ability for freedom and that it may to continue. When the phrase "God Bless America!" became popular, it was praising the set of ideals the country was founded upon. You should have a look at "American Gospel" by Jon Meacham, it's an excellent read.

my dad was a police officer for 25 years. for 5 of those years he fought the war on drugs as a narcotic agent. 16 of those years he solved one murder after another as an investigater. the year he retired his city was far more evil than when he started as a patrolman. I take the Bible more figuratively because I believe it to be a history book. folks, i am a Bush supporter, republican as well. I am opposed to Pres Obama, but I take the man at his word that he is a Christian. Although his views on abortion, etc dont reflect that. But I dont think questioning someone;s faith is going to help us. Question his terrible policies, programs and build up the Republican party. Reagan, Bush, Nixon...none would do this. Civility is needed....on both sides.

Also, you have to remember that you can't generalize about the founding fathers considering they had many dissenting views, especially on religion.

The theme of "God Bless America" is not supposed to be asking God to bless the people of America in contrast to the rest of the world, rather praising the ability for freedom and that it may to continue. When the phrase "God Bless America!" became popular, it was praising the set of ideals the country was founded upon. You should have a look at "American Gospel" by Jon Meacham, it's an excellent read.

Not sure where you're going there, religiofob, but why do you feel the need to put a label on which America? That's the great thing about freedom, to be who you are without having to apologize for it. I love my country and am fiercely proud of being American. my dad was a police officer for 25 years. for 5 of those years he fought the war on drugs as a narcotic agent. 16 of those years he solved one murder after another as an investigater. the year he retired his city was far more evil than when he started as a patrolman. My dad and others fought and some have even give there lives for us to live free and safe. Have they fought in vain? it would seem so and that is extremely sad.

Forget about America, GOd bless his people. People have fought and died being spirtualy blind without the Lord for freedoms and rights that put us at odds with GOD. People need Jesus Christ to be saved and have peace with Jehova. SAVE A LIFE AND READ THE GOSPEL.

@HedeenJeff God blessed America by inspiring our Founders to create a Land of Opportunity. Whether or not people take advantage of that opportunity is up to them. God is there to preside, inspire, advise, and guide. People must be the ones who decide and act. God could bless America again by inspiring our leaders to get back to our roots of providing opportunity, rather than trying to guarantee results.

@ultimatewertman I listen to common sense, reason, and logic. A lot of things Glenn Beck says are in the line with the Constitution of Our United States. A lot of the things he says make him sound like a paranoid schizophrenic too, though. Most of my news comes from reading magazines like 'Business Week' or 'The Week'. I form my own opinions. I watch MSNBC and Fox News when I need a good laugh, and there is nothing on Comedy Central...

@nma715 thats what i'm trying to tell itsatrap1989, things that science has taken years to prove had already been said in the bible. they talk about the earths layers and that the earths inner most layer is full of molten rock, I see it as hell. what more can i sa y?

I take the Bible more figuratively because I believe it to be a history book. For instance, The Beast and his number 666 refers specifically in a translation from Hebrew Numerology to Caesar Nero of the Roman Empire because he was the most notorious persecutor of Christians in those days because Jesus threatened his power. However, those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it, hence my figurative take on it.

It might be a wonderful thing to be uneducated or ignorant in some (too many) places in the USA, but if we don't understand the real problems we have, we become the lemmings of those with agendas, and they are leading us to the edge of the abyss.

Americans are waking up. After the Japanese attack on Pearl in 1941, a Japanese Admiral was quoted saying, "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve..." How did that work out? Don't underestimate Americans, even when they have settled in, they are ready to stand-up when they need too.

I am not talking about war or American bravery. I am talking about the easily lead people in our society. Political and Corporate America use emotional issues like the fear of attack and abortion and wave the Bible and the flag just to keep the uninformed all arguing with each other while they slowly erode our rights as individuals. America is being run by huge corporations which own the politicians. Both Presidents Eisenhower & Teddy Roosevelt warned us of this long, long ago.

Politicians are People. Corporations are not big evil, all-knowing entities, either. People make up Corporations. Profits built America, not government because profits are re-invested. Pharmaceutical companies don't invest billions of dollars to help people as a primary goal, they do it to make money - helping people is a wonderful side-effect... Those Presidents were horrible Presidents but good men. If you want European style government, then move to Europe... Progressive = Regressive.

Nope, not at all. Saying, "I hate America" is just as patriotic as saying, "I love America." I'm just one of those crazy people who consider the Constitution to be the most perfect Constitution ever written and the ultimate Law of the Land.

I think the lack thereof actually indicates that I much more intelligent and have more valuable experiences since I don't waste time posting videos to an entertainment website. I'm very highly educated, as a matter of fact. I went to Rockhurst High School - a Jesuit college preparatory school and graduated with honors from the University of Missouri - Columbia with a BSBA in Finanace, Banking, and Real Estate, if you require credentials. I'd rather read than watch YouTube videos for information and opinions. I was only stating an opinion. I wasn't trying to convince anyone their views are wrong or right.
