@CaptainHero1989 DEFINITELY not the '62 version ,although this ain't too bad , I hate these bloody rerecordings, the times I bought 60's compilations where they failed to mention it was a rerecording, are countless.Although from the standpoint of the artist it's understandable ,especialy if they had a lousy publishing deal. But they almost never manage to get that 6T's atmosphere.
Great post. Love the song. Query - There is a version of Sheila that pre dates this on. It was released off Judd Records. Does anyone have a copy posted? Or know how to get the post? Thank oyu.
I saw Tommy first on tour in the UK with Chris Montez. They were joint bill toppers. The Beatles were on the bill as a support band after their first chart entry Love me do". Strange huh?
Chris Montez had "Let's Dance" on the charts the same time as "Sheila" by Tommy Roe, fall of 1962. I was just starting the 7th grade then so you saw the chart toppers for sure.
At the bar where I go to worked a girl that looked a little nosie. That nose in the air attitude while she didn't know it herself. Not arrogant bus just cute. Don't know what Tommy meant by Nosy but for me For me that is "Nosie"
SERIOUSLY?! that is awesome! wanna trade? okay ill admit, hes not my cousin, he is my grandmothers cousin. that makes him my... 3rd cousin? still a cousin.
I read about this song in 'Not Fade Away' a book about the life and music of Buddy Holly. Buddy is and always will be my favourite singer. The author John Gribbin describes this song as a 'blatant' rip off of Buddy's Peggy Sue. I personally think so too. Like how it starts off with the drums. Still a good song though...
Kinda sounds like Buddy Holly.Great singer but Buddy is best..

The first version sounds even MORE like Buddy (As opposed to the later "hit" version)

Love this song I always thought of it as Tommy Roe's tribute to Buddy Holly.
