When I lived in Montana, I once had a kitten that was fed cat food from the grocery store for the first 5 months after being weaned from it's mother's milk. I began letting him outside and he started hunting,killing and eating wild rats,mice,squirrels,voles and an occasional rabbit it caught in the nearby Forest Preserve. My cat specialized in killing Fox Squirrels. This cat grew into a humongous, healthy tabby cat that lived for 22 years until it was eventually killed by a wolverine.
I know there are nasty ingredients in the pet food so I cook for my cats since last year. I have 4 cats but my oldest cat doesn't like cooked food because he has been eating dry food for nearly 5 years..he is addicted with dry food and I've tried many different ways to get him like my cooked food but failed:(
@AEVautomatic There are a lot of cat food contains corn and wheat,these ingredients are bad for cat. Some premium brands like Royal Canin and Science diet contain these ingredients too. What I want to say is I'm not confident with commercial pet food that's why I cook for my cats,at least I know what is in the food. Yes,cat need bone to be a happy healthy cat but I'm not sure about eyes though. Many pet food contains feather etc..yuck!

Pet food producers often use "meat and bone meal" which may contain road kill and other remains, however you can't ignore the part of the vet in this video for sending the dead pets to a rendering plant. My vet contracts with a crematorium.

Please pass on your findings regarding Blue Buffloa, thats what I feed my dogs. Altho I am at this time researching recipes for my babies. It does cause concern when you read such nasty ingredients in food you feed your loved pets. I don't care how long I have to stand in my kitchen cooking for my babies, they will never eat anything that I don't cook. They like raw veggies, thats a good start on health and nutrition.
Tests done by federal workers have indeed found drugs used to euthanize animals in many pet foods. It is well documented that dogs and cats end up in foods. What is decreasing this practice is exposure through online resources. To avoid this, you need to stop buying foods with "byproducts" and grains.
So all the meds that were given to these dogs before they died go right into the pet food. Some animals were EUTHANIZED!!! So, deadly meds are in the pet food............
The biggest concern is the dead animals from the vet clinics- traces of barbiturates have been found in pet food and I don't think anyone could kid themselves and say that barbiturates in pet food is 'healthy' for the animals that eat it. Or in any way safe.

Today when she took her new puppy to the vet she asked if Beneful was a good food & he said it was fine & not to believe the hype. He said, chicken beaks & animal-by-products are actually nutritious & healthy to feed to dogs. I told her to fire her vet. She told me, "he is a very educated man", and told her he has been to dog food factories to see how the food is made. I feel bad for her new puppy!

About 5 years ago I noticed my pug was getting sick after eating at the same time on the news they were reporting that most of the major brands of dog food had some ingredient that was imported from China that was poisoning peoples pets a lot of them died. I now cook for my dog 1 large chicken 2 cups of rice (before cooking) 1 pound bag of frozen peas and carrots 1/2 box of bran flakes (cereal) . He never got sick again and my vet says he is one of the healthiest pugs she has seen & he luvs it
I started MAKING my cats food. Originally because it was just cheaper for me to take a package of chicken/liver/beef/pork chops and just poach it with some broccoli and carrots (takes about 10 minutes). Portion out 1 pound of chicken for $3 and add the $1 worth of broccoli/carrots... That's less than $5 for 5 or 6 cans worth of cat food thats better than the premium brand!
But yes, I also make my cats food because I'd heard of all the nasty stuff they put in it. Also, pet food recall scares!

I have four incredibly healthy dogs. My oldest is eight now. All are fed a strictly vegan diet. Dogs are omnivorous scavengers. As long as they get the proper protein from plant based sources such as tofu, they do fine on this diet. Commercial food is disgusting.
You should be feeding your dog a diet high in protein and not fillers such as corn based fillers which is the top ingredient in most commercial dog foods. I feed my dogs chicken and brown rice a few times a week. If you don't have the time to do this then I recommend dog foods such as Core which is a protein based dog food.
At least animals feasting on dead carcasses in the wild are not eating the drug that was used to euthanize someones companion pet. Old leather boots have protein in them, but who buys footwear for Fluffy to dine on? Fuck the over commercialized brands at the grocery store! Pedigree, Ol'Roy, Beneful, Iams.. they're all garbage!

I also can't remember which dog food company it is but their owner also owns one of the BIGGEST rendering plants in texas.

About 5 years ago I noticed my pug was getting sick after eating at the same time on the news they were reporting that most of the major brands of dog food had some ingredient that was imported from China that was poisoning peoples pets a lot of them died. I now cook for my dog 1 large chicken 2 cups of rice (before cooking) 1 pound bag of frozen peas and carrots 1/2 box of bran flakes (cereal) . He never got sick again and my vet says he is one of the healthiest pugs she has seen & he luvs it

I started MAKING my cats food. Originally because it was just cheaper for me to take a package of chicken/liver/beef/pork chops and just poach it with some broccoli and carrots (takes about 10 minutes). Portion out 1 pound of chicken for $3 and add the $1 worth of broccoli/carrots... That's less than $5 for 5 or 6 cans worth of cat food thats better than the premium brand!
But yes, I also make my cats food because I'd heard of all the nasty stuff they put in it. Also, pet food recall scares!

I have four incredibly healthy dogs. My oldest is eight now. All are fed a strictly vegan diet. Dogs are omnivorous scavengers. As long as they get the proper protein from plant based sources such as tofu, they do fine on this diet. Commercial food is disgusting.

You should be feeding your dog a diet high in protein and not fillers such as corn based fillers which is the top ingredient in most commercial dog foods. I feed my dogs chicken and brown rice a few times a week. If you don't have the time to do this then I recommend dog foods such as Core which is a protein based dog food.

If the flesh is cooked at the correct temperature/time there should not be any harmful microbes or bacteria. A dog will eat a steaming pile of shit if they get the chance.

not convinced.. while a bit gross, none of this video convinced me that there is any animals from a vet clinic ending up in my pet's food.definitely some inconsiderate workers just piling things up, but no pets were shown actually being put into the "grinder" and no pet food company showed accepting the results... PETA shock and awe propaganda... THINK FOR YOURSELF PEOPLE!!!

@azanji Chew on this - Do you REALLY think the dogs were simply dumped there and didn't end up in the grinder? You want to see the whole picture of what goes on at rendering plants? Look up the dirty job episode on it. Watch carefully on EVERYTHING that goes into the process. The plant Mike Rowe went to produces chicken feed amongst other things. I also can't remember which dog food company it is but their owner also owns one of the BIGGEST rendering plants in texas.

@RayvenMoon84 mass disposal of animals from vet clinics is very common. NONE of these were shown actually going into a machine, just thrown in a pile, which is heartless, but ALL that was shown.. and the meat... how do you know what that consisted of? and your argument about rendering plants... holds no ground in reference to this particular vid. I never said what this vid is about never happens.. just that people shouldn't think such is true from watching this video.
