@tjohn1986 I know what you mean, but oddly enough I think it looks better in the flesh? If you've not had chance to see it in real life, I'd recommend it. It's hardly likely to worry Ducati for the looks side of things, but it's still kinda cool.

For the record from my professional opinion this BMW is not the greatest thing. BMW waited forever to release this to make it the hottest thing but it is like a 1 sided fight. Once Honda or any of the Jap bikes counter it will be over with. It is very hard to beat the CBR as of now, Yamaha tried but failed miserably. And by that I mean they over hyped and over developed their bikes as usual. For the class Honda is king although they are all up in class. There can be only 1 and the CBR is it.

I've rode one of these 2 weeks ago as a test ride....Whov!!! What a bike, what a sound , what a power and, and, and WHAT A BREAKS!!!!!! breaks are amazing!!! only couple of thinks bothers me of this bike. First is price of the bike which is huge!! second the head frame of the baki too small, wind actually was beating my both side of belly!! and third one is HEAT!!! Heat was coming straight to my upper leg section, outside temperature was 22 and my legs were burning!!! what if 35 instead 22 :(

i do own it i bought it for $16,225 cash its the only one in alaska so far untill late june early july mine is silver with the GSA, DTC/ABS. people all over own them and i am one of them. i really dont care what one person on youtube thinks or belives. The only reason i didnt belive he rides an RS125 is because the RS125 is not street legal in the US and i didnt know he doesnt live in the US. and now that i know he doesnt live here its believabe.

I love the look of this and being a BMW just makes it better. I am a huge fan of BMW bikes but I am not a fan of liter bikes. I like 600's so BMW come out with a 600 version of this and I will be the first in line. And for those that are wondering I prefer 600's because I do not have a need to go fast. I ride for fun, relaxation and some corners.

@fatum77 LOL, 600s because you don't need to go fast. A 600 will lap any track within 2 or 3 percent of a 1000, ridden by the top pros.

@Atsitais80 Of course not. I have ridden a Aprilia RS 125 for 2 years. I know that's nothing when you compare it to the S1000RR but keep in mind that i have to drive it with 25kw for the first 2 years so i can practice a lot until i can drive it with 142 kw.

In America it's illegal to ride a 2-stroke because of the emission (doesn't make sense because America isn't really the country which is famous for cars with a low emission but that's not my problem). I know Americans don't care about other countries but in Germany it is allowed to ride a 2-stroke engined motorbike. You can look it up in the internet.

It has TRACTION control but has no steering damper. I would rather have an electronic steering damper than to have traction control. If i will buy a European sportbike, i will go for this BMW S1000RR than to buy a DUCATI. There is nothing special about the DUCATI. I was thinking to buy a 2010 BMWS1000RR or an 09-2010 Yamaha R1. I decided to go for the R1 because it is already proven in any category over and over.

Are you sure it doesnt have steering damper, I mean it should...? if doesnt, it just simply doesnt make sense, I mean the bike just simply doesnt feel like its complete!

2dardi ------------ Yes it has no electronic steering damper. I made a deep research. Traction control is cool. But who cares about it? Electronic steering damper like the honda, R1 and gixxers have give more stability.

who cares about traction control? I'd like to think that human error/sudden loss of traction because of 'whatever' such as this should not be penalized by death or broken bones or 'shat-in-underdrawers'.

when you take ur bike to the track you can turn it off.

The streets are dangerous and unpredictable, abs and traction control is welcome option for those that want it. Again..it's an option!

At the very least it might save you the expense of scratched faring panels and broken controls.

@rheaMDC21 The S1000rr does have a steering damper under the headstock, I took one out today for a test ride. It is an amazing bike, so smooth and handles extremely well. It also has anti wheelie control as well [Switchable] - But IMHO its not that much better than my 2009 Fireblade.
