The snake had just killed and swallowed a small croc.The tiger simply walked out from under the snake.. The film crew chose this site because they were hoping to film the tiger kill the small croc to use in their movie. The python showed up and messed up every thing!
Impressive! The tiger, after being completely wrapped up by the python, still managed to get the snake off by jumping up and down. It requires a tremendous amount of energy to do that and to be honest this is the only time i see an animal, large or small, freeing itself from the serpant's fatal hug. Like MrJeb181 said, never underestimate a serpant's strength. People hate constrictors and refuse to recognize its power while large snakes are often top predators just like tigers and lions.

I think it's a hash of two different semi-staged encounters. At one point the Tiger has simply lost the fight and isn't going anywhere, but at the end he gets away. There was an overriding concern in Hollywood for happy endings at the time.

@IntrebuloN pythons, like many types of snakes specializes on surprise attacks. it can attack in a fraction of a sec. but it doesn't specialize in dogfights if you know what i'm saying. pythons are not poisonous.... tigers can do both surprise and dogfight. 6 inch fangs, the agility and the claws. the python woudn't get a good grip.
That snake would weigh just as much if not more than the tiger - a Python's body is all muscle and monsters like that can break 500 pounds without trying. Their bodies are all muscle and are far stronger than a Tiger.
Snake had already killed a crocodile before the Tiger came along - it was tired. Tiger was lucky.

What REALLY happened here is that the Tiger simply did not sink his teeth into the soft head of the snake (as compared to the rest of the snake body). If that Tiger had buried those canines into that snakes head, it would have been over in seconds. Though that snake is tough, there is NO WAY IN HELL that the snakes head would have held up against the Tiger's canines. It would have been LIGHTS OUT...

A very lucky tiger... Claws and teeth don't do much against a reticulated python that big - it's like trying to bite steel cable, pythons are all muscle.
It was definitely tired going into that fight - a full-powered Retic would have coiled and crushed that Tiger in seconds in the first strike.
Squeezy, hate to disagree, but not even that muscle of the python is strong enough to NOT get sliced by 10...yes TEN razor sharp claws...not to mention 4 six inch canines that cut muscle like nothing...for as big as this snake was, he couldn't take the Tiger down. Not very muscular if you ask me...and this tiger wasn't even full grown.
The snake was already worn out from a previous fight where it killed a Crocodile.
A python that big can strike and coil within a second when it is at full strength, and the pressure it exerts is comparable to having a 3/4 ton pickup truck parked on your chest.
Tiger claws can puncture the scales and flesh, but they can't tear through scale and muscle that thick.
Again clown, ONE bite to that snakes head by 6 inch canines...FOUR of them and that snake goes to sleep. That snakes head is soft as compared to the rest of the body. Don't act like its head is made of steel. A Tiger's canines will slice right through it.
And if you think snakes aren't all that tough, how about you go and see just how hard it is to hug a 6-foot nile crocodile to death. Reticulated Pythons do it regularly.
Either that tiger wasn't very big or that python is just huge!

Depends what you mean by fake. It looks like a film crew puts the two animals together to film them fighting, probably causing a lot of distress to them both. Which is very fucked up and wrong.

a healthy python would not be so lethargic as this one
it is either tired, injured or ill
that being said a proper fight between these two animals could go either way depending on who gets the early advantage.
python gets a good hold near tigers head and a couple coils in and good night tiger.
tiger goes straight for the head (which isn't normal) and bites down good night python
i give a slight edge to the python because predatory cats almost exclusively attack from behind to prevent injury

@IntrebuloN pythons, like many types of snakes specializes on surprise attacks. it can attack in a fraction of a sec. but it doesn't specialize in dogfights if you know what i'm saying. pythons are not poisonous.... tigers can do both surprise and dogfight. 6 inch fangs, the agility and the claws. the python woudn't get a good grip.

That snake would weigh just as much if not more than the tiger - a Python's body is all muscle and monsters like that can break 500 pounds without trying. Their bodies are all muscle and are far stronger than a Tiger.
Snake had already killed a crocodile before the Tiger came along - it was tired. Tiger was lucky.

What REALLY happened here is that the Tiger simply did not sink his teeth into the soft head of the snake (as compared to the rest of the snake body). If that Tiger had buried those canines into that snakes head, it would have been over in seconds. Though that snake is tough, there is NO WAY IN HELL that the snakes head would have held up against the Tiger's canines. It would have been LIGHTS OUT...

A very lucky tiger... Claws and teeth don't do much against a reticulated python that big - it's like trying to bite steel cable, pythons are all muscle.
It was definitely tired going into that fight - a full-powered Retic would have coiled and crushed that Tiger in seconds in the first strike.

Squeezy, hate to disagree, but not even that muscle of the python is strong enough to NOT get sliced by 10...yes TEN razor sharp claws...not to mention 4 six inch canines that cut muscle like nothing...for as big as this snake was, he couldn't take the Tiger down. Not very muscular if you ask me...and this tiger wasn't even full grown.

The snake was already worn out from a previous fight where it killed a Crocodile.
A python that big can strike and coil within a second when it is at full strength, and the pressure it exerts is comparable to having a 3/4 ton pickup truck parked on your chest.
Tiger claws can puncture the scales and flesh, but they can't tear through scale and muscle that thick.

Again clown, ONE bite to that snakes head by 6 inch canines...FOUR of them and that snake goes to sleep. That snakes head is soft as compared to the rest of the body. Don't act like its head is made of steel. A Tiger's canines will slice right through it.
