  • Hi. Do you know when this will be released in Ireland? And does wireless mean you can go on the internet? Or does it just mean you can download books straight to your ereader? Am desperate for some advise before I buy one.

  • I own one. I don't like it much, and my main problem is while I'm reading I can see my own face reflected on the screen .Any suggestion for solving this problem ?

  • I wonder if i can download and instal a spanish dictionary and make it work just like de preinstoled english dicitionaries do to search for words in spanish meaning?

  • @tormeslc How many videos have you said this on?

  • which one is better kindel or sony daily edition

  • @soccerlegend1231 Defintely the Sony in my opinion.

It's faster, more portable, smaller, , stores WAY more books, touch screen, plays music, views pictures, looks nicer and more appealing.

  • can you use the wi-fi in other countries

  • Terrible screen comparing to Sony PRS-505 or Pocketbook 301. Too reflective and low-contrast. I would never buy such a book.

  • Last question: is there any e-reader with wi-fi out there? This one on the review is only 3G, right? But I can't use 3G, I'd rather go with wi-fi. Is this possible? Thank you again and sorry for so many questions.

  • Also, in your opinion, what's the best E-Reader out there to buy right now? Thanks!

  • Excuse me, but at 12:15, was that drawn on the Reader using your finger? Can you do stuff like that with it? Thank you very much.

  • EBOOK READER!

  • can anyone please tell me that the second white e-book reader is of which company ????

  • Does this crops the white margins on PDFs?

  • It's a very superficial review... It's like a Sony's brochure...!!! :P

  • Is it possible to download periodicals on the PRS 600 touch edition and read them as on the Daily Edition?I mean, is there any difference? I own a PRS 600 and have not tried periodicals yet, but I am considering buying subscriptions to several newspapers and magazines.

  • Hi, is there a possibility to keep a large amount of ebooks in folders for example named by author's names (like a data on HD in computer)?

  • Thank you so much for this review. I depend on vids like this to decide if I should order this brand versus The Nook. The Nook is a bit cheaper, but customer service e-mails I have regarding my questions are rude, and as a teacher, I feel we shouldn't financially support companies that hire rude people. (Teachers give detentions to pupils for rudeness, so these employees's salaries shouldn't be supported by our hard-earned money, right?)

  • Does the double tapping on a word on .pdf format bring up the dictionary? Most of my textbooks are in .pdf format, and having the dictionary working for that format is critical, a deal-breaker.

  • Until they expand their library to include something a little more important than weekend readings I find this device useless. Its a shame both the Kindle and Sony e-readers have no Dover Math Books and the few physics books they do have are useless to an actual physicist. I could upload pdf copies of my current books, but I'm sure pdf files do not have the same features and capabilities as an actual e-book purchased from their website.

  • Can I read .lit files on it?

  • @eriksnoopy1 No, but you can convert them to epub if they don't have DRM.

  • @MobileTechReview Sorry if the question sounds stupid, but how do you do that? Is there any program that allows you to convert from .lit to epub? Thank you.

  • @kristarellano Download Calibre, a free program that can convert any ebook formats. It can only convert ebooks that don't have any DRM though.

  • Hey nice video u should check my channel out :)

  • Think I'm going to buy PRS-600 or PRS-900. Which one is the best?

    (I don't live in US, so I can't use the 3G :/)

  • @Pepoo001 I'll go for the PRS-600. I also am not situated in the US and so the wireless internet function would be rendered obsolete once it is ship in my country. I'm really not that rich to waste almost a $100 difference for some 3G I won't even have the opportunity of using. :)

  • @Pepoo001 I'm in the same situation now that you were 2 months ago. Which one did you end up getting?

  • I'd like to buy one but price is too fuckin' high, and in recession...

  • Really nice product, but I can see this product selling at like £350+ and way expensive. I still want a ebook, but waiting for cheaper price.

  • i'm interested in how the screen doesn't need to completely black out to do the zoom function but seems to need to for any other screen change. anyone? this happens at 8:23

  • I have a lot of word documents and several books that I have saved as word documents. Does anyone know if I can down load these onto the sony reader and read them? How does this work? Are they converted or something?

    Any help is appreciated.

  • Yes, you can. You have to use Sony desktop software to load them. Read our full review on MobileTechReview for more info on this. We covered all these in the review. Good luck!

  • Can you highlight and annotate the documents like you can a book once they are in the e-reader?

  • yup

  • i have bough 4 years before PRS 500 it is so excellent, so far i have upgraded only the filmware 2twise, and runs very smooth.

  • Fantastic review thanks. The only thing missing was a demo of you writing with the stylus and how it will display when one have made notes on a book page etc. Love the dictionary...

    @ redeyenights

I have the PRS-700 and don't find the lighting or the screen 'terrible' :).

  • Its because there is an electromagnetic field on all e book readers. That has little "particles" whcih will come up every time the screen needs to changes, and that happens when the other ones come down and rearrange. On the iPod touch, Its like a tv, not little grey particles. thats why the readers have really long lasting battery, and the iPods dont. (Though ipod touches still rule!!)

  • dude thats not an lcd there is actual magnitized ink inside of the screen so every time you change screens the ink has to be magnetized into a different position the effect is to make the screen look like book paper

  • Not satisfied with this or the Kindle DX. Both have features I really like. I wish I could combine them into one. The screen size and image quality of the Kindle DX, but with minimal buttons made up for with a touch screen, a faster response time and the screen not flashing black every time something changes.

For hundreds of dollars I'm not please with any eReader enough to make a pruchase...

  • how do you put new books on this?

  • Awesome review!

I'm going to be attending college soon, and I am wondering what you think about the replacement of the required books for my courses with the ebook. Do you think this change would make things easier or harder for me?

  • Can you read in the dark with this like the 700?

  • No Tpillai, thank goodness. The terrible lights and screen of the 700 are gone. Reading lights are widely available for the Sony Touch, and should fit the Daily Edition as well.

  • when the eReaders more and more close to the notebook computer, what's the deal to buy another one?

  • Has anyone heard anything about the Daily Edition being available in retail stores like BestBuy, as the 300 and 600 are? They sure are keeping tight lipped about all the distribution details on this critter.

  • Thanks for the greate review. I would have loved to heard your view on the reflection in comparison with other versions and it would have been useful if you had put your website link in the description so one wouldnt have to type it in by hand and could have just clicked on it. But thanks for the greate review once again.

  • I've been waiting for this review since I heard about this. I was hoping that for some reason the screen would look sharper but just like the PRS600, the touchscreen seems to mess things up.

The whole point of e-Ink technology was to provide a page like experience. However, the touchscreen robs the device of this effect. If you put a PRS300 (without a touch screen) next to a PRS600, the difference is clear. Unfortunately, the PRS300 is too tiny.

  • That was a great review.

  • Excellent review on this eBook as expected!

However I am curious at the moment whether I should wait for this to come out in Canada. I would imagine it would have a 500 dollar price tag, and the the magazine/newspaper selection would be rather limited. As well as the actual network is still in the works?

I am leaning towards the 600 as a result, but newspapers and magazines would be an amazing feature for this model!

  • I'd suggest that you wait for the Canadian version with wireless from somebody like Rogers. The Sony store is an US/Canadian store. I wouldn't be surprised to see similar local selection of mags and newspapers on the Canadian version when it comes out in a month or so.

  • GREAT review Lisa! I've been waiting for someone to come out with a decent review of this for too long. Looks like my patience paid off though. My only question is....can you take notes within PDF's as well?

  • Glad you enjoyed the review. Yes, you can add notes in the PDF files. Our detailed written review is coming soon. So stay tuned.

  • thank you for this review

  • awesome review! Does it has a lot of screen glare like it was reported for some other sony readers?

  • The glare actually looks much worse in the video because of our video lightsand the camera angle.

  • Great review Lisa!

But, I have the PRS 600 and the glare makes it an eyestrain to read sometimes. How does the glare on the daily reader compare to the PRS 600?

Is there any way to reduce the glare? (Can you recommend an anti-glare film that actually works?)

  • It's actually slightly better than the PRS-600. The camera was not at a natural viewing angle like you would be when you are reading. Sorry about that. We will cover this in our full in-depth written review out in a day or two.

  • Don't be fooled by comments it is better than the 600. The glare is horrendous and the text still has a smudged look to it. The over all screen is darker than a Kindle making it difficult to read. I could not find an angle in which glare wasn't present or I couldn't see my reflection. Also, the OS is very sluggish and you have to punch the icons more than once before they respond at times. Nice concept, but poorly executed.

  • It sells for $399. Battery life depends on how much you use wireless. Anywhere from nearly 2 weeks to 4 or 5 days.

  • whats the price ? and how long it work on single charge?
