  • I was there in 2000, and the Vietnam memorial behind the B-52 had a huey mounted on top of a platform. The cool thing about that was that the huey was motion activated and had a soundtrack of a helicopter that was quite a distance away. It "came closer" until the sound was right on top of you. I see from your video that the platform is still there, but the huey isn't. Probably a victim of hurricane Katrina!

  • I'm the girlfriend if the guy that left your first comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the Battleship park. It's one of my favorite places. I've actually been inside the B-52 years ago and sat in my dad's seat in the tail. It was a cool experience.

  • Thanks for the comment. Yes, it was an experience to be there reliving so much history. You must be proud of your dad and his accomplishments.

  • My girlfriend's father was actually the tail gunner on the giant B-52D bomber you have several pictures of. It's called the "Calamity Jane". I can't believe you have it in the pictures... Salamat Po!!!!!

  • Yes... I can't believe, too, someone has been inside that plane and still got to see our photos/video just before the end 2007. Small world. I appreciate your comment. It was also the Philippine teachers' 1st experience outside of New Orleans. I'll relay to them your notes.
