the reason with john cena is that anybody who knows wrestling knows that's is going to happen...cena HAS to turn heel but it's not gonna be a surprise to anybody...back in the day nobody knew when a guy would turn heel and when it happened, it was of shock value...added to the suspense of "drama" and made it interesting...the storylines are so bad now and now that it's pg-13 it's all about being comedy now and that's not what wrestling was in our time, so his heel turn will be meaningless
First time Rock accepted the "Rocky Sucks" chants and accepted being a heel .. a move that would eventually allow him to become the PPL's champion when he became a face... and fans accepted him ...
its funny how the rock and randy kinda started thier careers almost the same way but ppl refer to cena as the new rock and orton the new austin well thats crap back then you had more than just 2 maineventers and way better storylines way better personas and way better matches now its all boring not all of it but most of it
I think the WWE is trying to switch it up a bit...Cena and Orton not being champ...they have potential ppl like Sheamus, Barret, Mason, the 2 that was with Barret...i think they could have bn the next Hardy's/Edge n Christian type...Air-Boom...The Big Show n Mark Henry is pretty good..where's Skip sheffield? CM Punk is gettin a better push, Del Rio is pretty good they have them but it's soo conservative then what use to happen that a lot don't give them chances
JR was the first to refer to him as "the Rock" in his "great to see the Rock back" line. I bet his kayfabe ID card still said Rocky Maivia, just like Triple H's says Hunter Hearst Helmsey.
The Rock should have never been put into the Nation of Domination. That was Faarooq's group, and in the end it was given to The Rock, who didn't even stay in the group.
Dis was i believe august 17 1997 da nite after owen hart broke stone colds neck... Dis was not only the nite the rock was born but it was also da same nite dx was born
Wow I remember Ron Simmons converting to Islam and forming the WWE chapter of the Nation of Islam. I believe he went by Faarooq Asad. I also had no Idea The Rock was a NOI brother. Asalaamu alaikum
@05tonytin I think i had to of been. There was this video called, first Rock Bottom ever and it happened while he was already a Nation member. so that video title was a lie.
@GialloHorror Why didn't they do that with guys like John Cena or something. because has been geting mixed reactions a lot and they never turned him heel. Obviously some fans are getting sick of him dominating the scene. I mean main eventing in his 7th consecutive Wrestlemania? Hulk Hogan never even did that.
@TheArthasmenethril Well, Undertaker was only involved in title matches at wrestlemania 3 times. But now he's main evented wrestlemani 5 times in a row now. But as for Hulk Hogan, he main evented Wrestlemania 5 times in a row and 8 of the first 9 times (Main events aren't just title matches)
@diamorious what I'm saying is Cena fought for the WWE/Heavyweight title for 7 times in a row (going on 8 times). World title matches are main events. They don't just count the very last match of the night as the Main Event. sometimes there's 3 or 4 different main events.
@jayNicks10 its all because of the money man. they make millions off of him. they wont do it until they reach a certian point when they have no choice. lots of people can say "imma stop watching wrestling cause of cena", but theres still another 4.3 million average peeps who watch it. im not a cena fan what so ever. me....i like curt hawkins, zack ryder, tyler reks, drew McIntyre
@jayNicks10 WM1 tag team, WM2 v. Bundy, WM3 v. Andre... WM5 v. Savage, WM6 v. Warrior, WM7 v. Slaughter, WM8 v. Sid, WM9 v. Yokozuna - oh snap it wasn't consecutive. As opposed to... Mason Ryan v. HHH at WM21, Cena v. HHH at WM22, Cena v. Michaels WM23, Taker v. Edge at WM24, Triple H v. Orton at WM25, Michaels v. Taker at WM26, Cena v. Miz at WM27 and Cena v. Rock at WM28. HOW DARE CENA MAIN EVENT SEVEN IN A ROW? WHICH... He hasn't actually done. (Cena still sucks, just get your facts right.)
Rock never really physically suited the nation, his Samoan heritage is too obvious in his looks (he looks more Samoan than African to me), but he was an awesome member for the simple reason that he added a youthful charisma to the group.
@matrix4022 The Rock goes as black, for the most part. Read his book, his name's Dwayne Johnson, all of his football buddies were black. He's also a big Rap, Gospel, R&B fan although he does like Country. The Rock traveled with Mark Henry on the road from '96 and the rest of his WWE tenure. So he was as black as it got...
@BlackArmyTV I always thought Rock related more to his Somoan heritage - his tribal tattoos are all related to his Somoan family heritage and he always talks of his Samoan heritage in interviews. But w/e, im sure he's equally proud of both!
@matrix4022 man shut the fuck up trying to say the rock ant black the man is black. i dont give a fuck what part of the globe hes was born take him and place him among a group of black people he fits right in how can you say he doesn't suite the nation? if someone didnt tell me he was samoan i wouldn't of never guessed...face it people the mans black thats why they placed him 5th best wrestler in history if he was white im sure he would be top 3.
@Ray01Geogeass Yes, it is. Notice how the commentators didn't mention the "Rock Bottom". The rock used the shoulder breaker as a finisher before this.
I watched this as it was happening and that shirt still doesn't work.
