This environment is cruel for these foxes. It looks like they are in a farm, ready for their pelts to be taken from them after, we hope, they have been killed 'humanely'. They are standing on wire mesh, just for the convenience of the fir farmers. Yet another example of cruelty towards animals who have no voice.
@ALNEAL heh. this farm is not for pelts. they have been conducting an experiment for 50 years to make domesticated, friendly foxes and after 50 generations they succeeded. You can even buy one these for a high price. Foxes from the wild would bite you instantly, theyre predators
Does these counts as wild animals? In my country it's illegal to have ''wild'' animals like a fennec as pets. But if these counts as tame I'll buy one. :)
Don't go betting on things you learned from a video game.
No, they probably didn't use anything nuclear at all to do it. Are you saying people all around the would were using nuclear technology to domesticate dogs and cats, even though the technology didn't exist hundreds/thousands of years ago?
FYI, "Russians" isn't spelled "russisns"
Maybe if Metal Gear Solid taught grammar and proper English, the quality of YouTube would skyrocket. Or just use nuclear fallout. -_-
simple squarrles dont kill cows nor do rabbits or birds, or visa versa. so why would they care, its people who have been messsing with them for so long, that they do care about us, and fear us. Cows do not know any better all they know is that their calf is missing, moo for them a few weeks and move on they have no clue their kid is being slaughtered.
I bet if you bread on "human raised behavior" instead of quote "tameness" adrenaline production. They would still obtain their natural visage, but with a tamer attitude, tolerance for humans over time, because, it seems to me that different species base their fear on their ancestors fear over time, and becomes both learned, behavior, as well as genetics. For example; why do birds not fear cows? Why are cows not scared of rabbits? Why are squirrels not scared of bird’s cows?
My 6 month old fox kit acts the same when she sees me, and has not been bread for domestication, was bread wild for fox farming, and even though she is from wild sock she acts more domesticated than most dogs. Thats because I raised her correctly. As a matter of fact I had shown her, her first wild field mouse today on my grandmothers farm and was like WTF was that.
I doubt Russia will ever ship them to the USA if they wanted to why didn't they do it already? I guess the only Fox Americans can have as a pet is the Fennec Fox. Or Red, Gray or Arctic Foxes with certain licenses and depending where you live.
@yoda55 They are trying to set up adoption sites in the US but there are a few hurdles with the FDA, until then you can have them shipped to the US or go to Russia and get one yourself.
@yoda55 They 'are' selling and shipping foxes to the US. But unless you have 6k on you and live in a state wherein they partially allow foxes, then there is a low chance.
50 years ago, the initial reason for breeding tamer foxes was so that they could be farmed for their fur more easily. But by the 10th generation, they had become more dog-like and are no longer ideal for the fur buisness... But they are being sold as pets.
@4marchbaby12 well.... they are not in the same family as dogs, dogs are all desendet from wolves while ancestor of wolves and foxes deverged loong time a ago.
I don't think these are killed for their fur... it was an experiment to see how quickly an animal could be domesticated. Now that they are domesticated, they are trying to see what genetic changes have occurred in the breeding process. They are trying to sell them to keep the project afloat, but apparently are having trouble with it.
Hey, for those who wants to get these wonderful pets, now its possible!!!
This year our company has oficially started to sell them. We can send tamed foxes to any country you are in. Unfortunately, our website is under construction now, but with all questions, wishes and orders you can contact us
Actually, they were originally commissioned as a symbol for the soviet union. They are not killed, this is because it was a project for patriotism, kinda like an artificial "bald eagle".
Aaaaaawww!!! They are SO affectionate!!! x) Teehee!!!

Why don't the Russians put a patent on these foxes then breed them and sell abroad as pets. So much money could be made.
