I think they're assuming that women will just naturally do things like make sure that her breath is nice, her clothes are tidy, etc. man needs to be reminded, because, you know, men are irresponsible pigs...a little sexist against men, this list is. (And apparently, I'm Yoda today...sorry about that.). Come to think of it, there was a little sexism against women there, too...

I think making a date special is important, but it's true dating is by definition about assessing someone's suitability for an intimate relationship. I personally do like to pull out all the stops because making the girl feel special is the most important thing to me in a date.
This kind of 'check list' is more for the anal retentive, not too useful or the common man.
You can get all the dates you want. If guys aren't forthcoming, it's probably because they are shy. You should ask them!
