  • DO A BARREL ROLL!

  • Did you ever play with Star Fox 64's title screen? In the original N64 version of Star Fox 64, tilt the control stick in any direction. The "64" part of the title will move around and Fox, Falco, Peppy and Slippy will all look at it. It's just a hilarious easter egg!

  • 7:16 Link used Bow! It's not very effective... Link's hit with recoil!

Why did I just use Pokemon talk for a Zelda character?

  • 4:39 :O its a trap!

  • wow u sure hate jigglypuff

  • How do you do a barrel roll??? (plz reply and i use a classic controller)

  • @TheJKizzKim "To barrell roll, press Z or R twice!"

  • It would've been cool if Fox's final smash was his whole team coming out in their ships and shooting the map with lasers. (Like Duon's laser attack)

  • Just like TheWolfboy007 said, the Fox Illusion is probably based on Japanese culture about foxes; just like that, Fire Fox it's probably based on the Japanese belief that kitsunes controls fire... other examples of this belief can be seen on Ninetales from PKMN and Kyuubi from Naruto series.

  • :D 7:08

  • Considering the lack of information on Fox's hand-to-hand combat, this video was actually done very well. In any of the Starfox games, you never see Fox using any melee attacks, because all his enemies are big robots. Wouldn't do much good to kick the machines in the nuts. ;)

So all you had to work with was his blaster and vehicles. But the various details you pointed out were far more than I was expecting. Still, it would be cool if they had Fox fighting Wolf hand-to-hand in the actual game.

  • DO A BARREL ROLL

  • what would happen if the landmaster shot kristil

  • What about starfox command? Since the starfox crew's design in brawl was taken from command, I thought that the physical appearance of most things related might be taken from command. Or you just simply forgot this game existed? XD

By the way, I like assault too, though I have never played 64, I like the freedom of roaming around and changing vehicles in assault.

  • Starfox is actualy more of a freelance police then they are mercenaries.

  • are you going to do toon link's moves?

  • I think his Side A is based off of the Barrel Roll.

  • 6 people forgot to do a barrel roll

  • 7:08 xD

  • Forgot the Wall jumping.

  • FOX RULES!!

  • 01:35 It's obvious that the design of the arwing on SSB64 is from Star Fox 64! Because they are both N64 games!

  • DO A BARELL ROLL !

  • I think he looks better in a tank.

  • @saintshurajulio yea, it actually looks more real on ssb then on the other one when he just falls out other then jumping out of the open cabin

  • The Fox Illusion is actually based on Japanese mythology. In Japanese myths, kitsunes (foxes) were known to be mischievous, always tricking people w/ illusions. They were also known to be extremely fast. Fox's side B move is quite similar to those myths.

  • @TheWolfboy007 I don't think that's the case, since that doesn't explain why Falco can do it ;)

  • Landmasters look like tanks.

  • 7:09 is the part everyone was waiting for.

  • Gee, thanks for that viral "Do a barrel roll" moment. :)

  • Comment removed

  • U never explained what any of his physical attacks are related to like his up(B), up(A), side(A), etc. All u explained was his landmaster final smash.

  • @VansOffDehWall Obviously made just for the Smash Bros. series.

  • @CrappyCaptureDevice

I think in smash bros or adventures manual said fox is skilled in martial arts also note his speed kicks are from chun li for example and his forward smash is based on one of fox's combos in adventures.

  • If i see an arwing fly into battle one more time Im going to shit a brick

  • 7:53 What 9000?!

  • i always thought that the fox illusion was based off of the reflector shield, especially in melee

  • Are you kidding me?! Everything from StarFox Assault was awesome, including all the voice acting!!!

  • Are you kidding me?! Everything from StarFox Assault was awesome!!!

  • There IS a way to turn off voices in SF64, I've seen videos of it without voice acting (not the gibberish option in the PAL version) and no text boxes at the bottom. I don't know how, though.

  • since it wasn't mentioned in the video and i see people asking how fox's b up relates to his games here's my guess. i think it comes from when fox is in his arwing and he loses all of his health the arwing catches on fire and then explodes when it crashes. since fox goes helpless after the move it's like when he loses all of his health he is "helpless" because he lost a life.

  • I don't care what anyone says. I liked Assault. It's my 2nd favorite game of the series behind the SNES original.

  • Actually, the concept of the Star Fox team using blasters was first introduced in the Star Fox Nintendo Power comic.

  • 7:10

  • 7:09

  • @PinkAttribute what about 7:09?

  • @gamerseye171

    Do a barrell roll!

  • 4:39 (ad ackbar voice) ITS A TRAP

  • But you didn't explain Up B Fire Fox

  • @zavierfrost it's based off the actually FireFox xD

  • not sure if some one said it already, but fox can use his blaster on foot in the multiplayer of starfox 64, so the info at 03:17 is off a bit. you just had to beat starfox 64 100% on expert to unock foot mode for multiplayer, everyone got the single blaster and fox being first player had his blaster as red. the beam and gun are taken from that.

  • HEY GREAT IDEA REQUEST READ PLEASE!

Do a history for ssbb ITEMS!

  • someone probably already mentioned this, but at 4:27 you can't deny that the blaster looks allot like the assault rifle from halo o.o

  • 4:40 It's a trap!

  • 2:26 The Arwing also has a history of shitting out their pilots. Look closely!

  • Im ze 9,000th viewer:o

  • 7:09 best part

  • Woah, that's Star Fox Assault?

    What console is it from?

  • @MultiXHacker Gamecube.

  • That's the coolest gun I've ever seen.

  • 7:09 DO A BARREL ROLL!!!!!!!

  • and where you think they got his B up from. i was thinking maybe star fox 63 like another move that came from the barrel role but i mean thats pushing the comparison a little

  • good vid man i im a huge fan of all the nintendo games mostly zelda and star fox series.

  • This baby can take temperatures of up to NINE THOUSAND degrees.

How did no one notice this before? ._.

  • omg star wars refrence

  • Comment removed

  • What song is playing during the Meta Knight stage?

  • @saberwingxl The gourmet race theme

  • u hacked to look up close to fox.

  • Fox looks way different in Star Fox Assault.

  • Fox illusion is probably a reference to warp speed in star fox 64

warp speed takes you into a bluish zone where you leave after images when you move

  • ROFL DO A BARREL ROLL!

  • Could it be possible that when the Landmaster drops down, it's to assume it's coming from the Great Fox, so in a way it has the ending of the 64 version being used as the intro, and the intro of the Assault version as the exit (though I do remember when the Landmaster is destoryed in Assault it teleports out like how it teleports in)?

  • Where did the fire come from

  • did you use hacks in this video.if so well done on capturing the fox blaster with the dazzle.

  • 4:42 ITS A TRAP!

  • Poor Jigglypuff :(

  • once again good job

WTH? the first star fox had a planet names Macbeth!

  • So, nothing came out of Star Fox Adventures, huh?

  • 5:39

Wow...I love 64 to death, but dag that's an ugly character model lol. I forgot he had the Blaster (pistol design) in the character art though. Good look as always, dude :)

  • Do a barrel roll!

  • 7:09 Couldn't resist, eh?

  • Ah Starfox the first(as far as i know) 3D game ever

  • In all honesty, I didn't think Star Fox Assault was THAT bad of a game. It wasn't as compelling or engaging as Star Fox 64, but still not bad. I'd have to say that what really annoyed me with the game was the terrible voice acting. Krystal and Panther weren't too bad, Fox was below acceptable, but the rest of them were just plain awful, especially Oikonny.

  • @CrappyCaptureDevice. I agree. The actors were down right terrible. But it's not a bad game. There are some good things about this game. This graphics are pretty good, the music is memorable, the multiplayer was improved from the N64 one, and the challenge is pretty spot on.

  • @CrappyCaptureDevice What about Slippy, he was awesome XD

    Oikonny sucked tho XD

  • @CrappyCaptureDevice Honestly i liked everything about Starfox Assault, why do people not like it? OH, because in Assault you can actually walk with a gun? Yeah, thats TOTALLY a reason to hate it. And the voice acting? I know they could have done better but come on, that isn't a reason to hate the game. And you didn't have to WORK to get a difficulty, unlike Starfox 64. In assault, you could just select it.

  • @a1joryj some people have differen't thinking about games.

  • @CrappyCaptureDevice I thought Falco was great. But Falco is ALWAYS good.

  • @CrappyCaptureDevice i know! why does nobody like the ground missions i mean, its kinda cool to see fox in real combat

  • @CrappyCaptureDevice i know. when my friend rented it, all we would do is play multiplayer. lol

  • @CrappyCaptureDevice Oh yes, I remember that. I seriously had my mouth open at the line: 'I must bring an end to our relationship!' Though in all honesty, the on-foot missions were also a bit of a chore in terms of controls and length. All in all Assault wasn't really a bad game, but it could have been better. Though I do have to say, CCD, for a N64 game at it's time, SF64 (or Lylat Wars, I don't know where you live) was rather impressive with so many dialogue samples and all very clear.

  • @CrappyCaptureDevice maybe the Landmaster disappearing is something related to wireframe graphics of original Star Wing game... (like 6:44)

  • @MeReNDeRo89 Yep, I think so.

  • @CrappyCaptureDevice I totally agree but do you think the voice in Brawl are bad? I can't stand that Falco has some kind of british accent

  • @BestoftheDecade It's not british... It's more Brooklyn/Boston.

  • @CrappyCaptureDevice

i disagree i think assault is the best of the series...i dont like star fox 64 since you can't save anything

  • @CrappyCaptureDevice how is you vid so long?

  • @1441Shadow i know it only explained 1..2..3..4 moves! Blaster (B), Defletor thing (my game broke down so I for got moves(too lazy to get guide book))(down B), Fox ...um... crap for got how to spell (side B), and The most overused(3 ppl have it) final smash *Drum roll* Landmaster(Final Smash). so ya 4 moves.

  • @CrappyCaptureDevice Well I respect your opinion but I think Wolf, Falco, and Peppy were actually pretty good compared to most others also Star Fox 64 had it's own share of bad actors.

  • @CrappyCaptureDevice And yet SF64's voice acting always gets a clear pass

    :|

  • at 6:17 they misspellrd through.

  • Actually the Landmaster disapearing is most likely from multiplayer, because in there, if a vehicle is idle for about 2 minutes and 30 seconds it will disapear. See for yourself.

  • Where'd the fire move (up + B) come from?

  • DO A BARREL ROLL.

You knew that was coming folks.

  • One Question: Where did the move Fire Fox come from?

  • @Rasenano I think he went over that in the Melee version of Fox's Moves

  • @UFfan85 Well, he didn't...He just did the blaster and the reflector in the melee one. Guess it'll stay a mystery.

  • A bit to long. We didn't need a 2 minute long explanation of why he flies in on an Arwing.

  • dude crappy cature device ur smart

  • I always thought the Landmaster end animation was a bit like the invincibility power in Star Fox 1 in addition to all that jazz... <_<

  • Yo. Great job on the video, but I noticed a tiny mistake!

Star Fox does actually use his blaster in 64, just not in the main campaign. In battle mode, the final unlock for getting lots of medals is the ability to play as any of the characters on foot, with blaster in hand. Since it's difficult to unlock, it's understandable that you missed it!

    Keep up the good work!

  • @chubzoid No, he didn't miss it. He compared them at 5:36.

  • @superstarman9001 good deal! my internet was really terrible and cut out before that point in the video.

    :)

  • 14:40 it's a trap!

  • 7:08

    DO A BARREL ROLL!

  • 07:52

    up to 9000!!!

  • @Krazy4Krash There's no way that can be right!!!

  • When you pause SSBB HOW TO TURN 360 DEGREES ????!!!!

    PLAESE TELL

  • Hacking the game is the only way to get full control of the camera.

Mostly because the developers left huge empty gaps in the the foreground space, which looks rather ugly.

Though I wouldn't complain much. We certainly have a lot more freedom with the camera then we did back on the 64.

  • @Janezk7 hacks

  • You forgot this: Fox is able to land the Landmaster on top of opponents for damage in Brawl, which is related to how it could damage Fox if it landed on him in Assault

  • Another great video I always look forward to your videos.

  • Do a barrel roll!

  • I would say the "blueprint" ending could be based on the Arwing in StarFox/Starwing's tutorial

  • wow,i didn't think you would be able to do this with anything other than the landmaster

  • Seems strange that its such a long video for a character who never actually got out of his Arwing before super smash bros,

  • I'm pretty sure the Landmaster's Melee trophy also had a different design.

  • star fox assault looks awesme. and good graphics

  • the blaster shot debuted in Star Fox 64, actually, only in multiplayer mode after doing some ridiculous things to get it. Some people even doubt its exsistance, but it's there.

  • @GuenterErde i was just about to say that

but i think back then he had like a besuka

  • @GuenterErde Really? Prove it!

  • I like this vids of yours (I'm subscribed and everything) but they always tend to draggggggggggggggg....

  • Do a barrel rol

  • Actualy the landmaster was first seen in Starfox 2 but since it was cancelled they redesigned it to look better and also for the one for wolf put that he was also from starfox 2

  • What about the fire fox move. I think that move was perhaps inspired by the fire waves from that fire planet in this video. Compare those waves to his move and they do look similar perhaps you could add that in or give me your thoughts about it.

  • haha @ Assault: IT'S A TRAP!

  • Good job on this one. Sorry you had to play StarFox Assault. :(

  • @TKnightcrawler What is that supposed to mean? StarFox Assault was a beastly game.

  • @Dodighead01 The on-foot and tank levels were horrible and most of the flying levels were too easy.

  • @TKnightcrawler StarFox Assault was one of the best games in that series.

  • @Ultimatesmasher Yeah, it was though. I'll never understand why some reviewers hated it so much.

  • @TKnightcrawler Maybe I just thought it was awesome because I had played the atrocious StarFox Adventures just days before.

  • @Ultimatesmasher I guess the 4.5 or so flying levels from Assault is better than 2 from Adventure, yeah. ;-)

  • @TKnightcrawler What's so bad about Assault?

Lemme guess, cause you don't get to fly nearly as much as in SF 64 and SNES? That is an opinion, not a fact, so don't say that, because he may like Assault, and you don't.

  • @nintendoboy36 Of course it's an opinion. Every video game rating ever is an opinion. And yeah, that's a big reason. The other main reason is because those missions were less engaging, and the on-foot and tank missions were absolutely awful.

  • @TKnightcrawler But see that's what bothers me, why do all of you think the foot based missions were terrible? I loved them, and not just because I love the series in general. So what if they're not exactly like the arwing missions, it lets you explore the interesting terrain and objects, such as in katina, did you ever notice the trees? They are basicly giant mushrooms, how is that not interesting? My point is that I don't see why everyone HATES the foot missions, HATE is a big word after all..

  • I couldnt imagine how difficult it is to find the orgin moves of characters who dont normally have anything to go off of like Fox, Capt Falcon and Ice Climbers. Keep up the good work dude.

  • 9:54 "it can take temperatures up to 9000 degrees!"...

But what if..... ITS OVER 9000!!!!

  • @totodiletrainer01 What, 9000?! There's no w.. y'all know the deal.

  • My god on foot in 64 was ugly nice video though

  • Actually, there's a mode in VS mode, Star Fox 64 that allows you to play on foot with a blaster. So the blaster didn't debut in Smash Bros.

  • @SkyMaro Sorry, didn't watch all of the video.
