Someone clear this up for me. Does SOPA only effect American websites? Surely considering SOPA is an American bill can't effect British or European websites? They needed the architecture and the culture of the internet to be built. That's why it was free for so long. Now that it's ensconced, they want it bottle-necked and regulated. Someone clear this up for me. Does SOPA only effect American websites? Surely considering SOPA is an American bill can't effect British or European websites? The internet doesn't belong to one country. If I'm right then Google and Facebook should sell their websites to Europe and UK and then those websites are untouchable while the companies who originally owned them still make a big profit.

Guys there's no way this'll pass. Obama is against it and Senate is against it. Even if it gets passed there, the ACLU is against it and the Supreme Court will just crush it then and there. Even if it did pass Facebook, Google, and multiple other sites have said they're going to shut down their sites the day it happens, which means that anybody using Facebook or Google or anything else will then know. This thing won't get passed, and if it did the fallout would be huge. It's unconstitutional.

They needed the architecture and the culture of the internet to be built. That's why it was free for so long. Now that it's ensconced, they want it bottle-necked and regulated. We never owned the phone lines, fiber optics or wireless towers, so we've had a great run of this. If people want their internet to stay free, they need to start taking down these communications monopolies and start making them commons of public interest, like they are in northern Europe.
