  • I have surfed kayak, Board, SUP for twenty years and yes kayak surfing to a high level is MUCH harder than board surfing! Although you can't get very deep in a boat! I doubt if Surfchimp has EVER got a deep barrel! LOL ;-) kook ;-)

  • Surfchimp, you clearly don't know what you are talking about. I have been surfing boards, skis and kayaks for 30 years and to even keep a surf kayak upright takes far more skill than to stand on a board. When surfing my ski or kayak I am continually getting dropped in on by surfboards, not once has another kayak or ski dropped in on me. Until you have been there and done it then you are not very qualified to pass judgement. I think that you will find that tee shirt surfer cause more problems :-)

  • Kayak surfers should be banned from the sea... 99% of you guys are dangerous with no control over your boat

  • anybody knows the name of this song?

  • Tots, killer tune and nice Big mac.

    Marty Perry

  • Awesome!! Can't wait to get back to Normandy and do the same....

  • this IS GOOD

  • that is awesome!~

  • insane, love it

  • no thats not a helix because he dose not go right round it a really hard carve if you watch and he gets up on the back end it is a differnt more looks the same at the start :)

  • yeah your right its just a bigger flip turn...dont know how i missed that...

  • whats the punchline my dad says it rude

  • big mac?? thats called a helix/felix.

the surf is NOT an option for starting kayaking, and neither is a shit on top. before you even go near the surf you want a solid roll and to be able to take a beating. without good boat control eg. being able to lift the nose over oncoming waves, paddleing out is horrible.

find a club that'll get you out on flat water and progress from there.

message me if you've any questions

    graetings from the Netherlands

  • i have been here but not in a kayak, i have only just started surfing, and i want to but a jackson star first

  • heehee surffing in kayaks is sooo much fun and having ur head pulled throw the sand just adds to the fun :). kayak surffing add a little more danger to normal surffing , buy hay they are both awesome sports

  • this guy is sick

  • Somehow I don't think I could manage any of that in my Sirius.

Great video. Great paddling. Well done.

  • so why dosnt the surf kayak look more like a surf board? My daughter was just telling me the thing she didnt like about surfing was paddling out, looks like the dayak makes that easier, but are wipe outs more damaging?

  • yes paddling out can be easier in some respects, but you have to go through the wave and not quite over it, if im making sense. not for someone who wears glasses! =]

but the wipeouts can be horrendous in anything more than a 5' wave. the things is, with a kayak you can't just jump off...you have to bear the pasting against the unforgiving sand (even rocks if you're stupid!) and you invariably land upside-down, thstis head-first.

  • i guess from what u say is that a 'sit on top' surf kayak (allowing to 'jump' off) dosnt work as well ( seems going though a wave would be harder) as inside type, other reasons also?

  • Hey,

Yer they do make surf specific kayaks such as the mavericks ! Awesome boats. Ive gone through a few however as the rocks arent very understanding. Many people take out play boats but there to short and your nose digs in more which is why you see people in 7ft boats out there or longer like the inazones' and stuff.

Bailing can be painfull but not as hard as getting back out there and starting off the beach is a sod unless you find some rocks to seal launch off.

    Its amazing though :D:D

  • Getting out is easier as obviously you have paddles to help but with a wave over 4-5' you have to go through otherwise you end up going over the back and getting a beating. Alternatively you could go to a good weir (make sure to check first whether it is safe)so you dont have to paddle out and there arent many rocks or sand to scrape along. Try Hurley or Holme Pierpoint.

    Both really good!

  • thats not too hard i do that shit all the time and just started playboating

  • great vid btw. just wondering if there are many ways of getting off waves that start to turn hairy. =] stop making it look so easy =p

good to see kayakers teaching the surfers a thing or two about catching the waves =]

  • very good surfing!!!

  • respect to you guys.cool kayaking.

  • I kayak surf there!

  • class!!

  • Nice waves. Do you guys know Waveskiing. You will love it for the ocean. Check out David Arnaud pro Kayaker trying a waveski. Those guys doing amazing things on the waves with its.

  • really cool, the good thing about the kayak is you'll catch more rides from further out, the paddles are a big help..sometimes , surfer dudes will get pissed off because you always get priority over the wave before them..other then that, its a lot of fun..the water looks cold in England, brrrr, i'm spoiled, i live in Florida...

  • Inspired.

  • sweet... good skill... love kimi

  • nice vid!

whats the track called that goes with that video...

    cheers

  • What R U guys using for boats, Kevlar/Carbon or any plastic?

  • sic!

  • Goat boating is gay.

  • GODS!

  • u way better waves then i do

im in michgan and they suck

    lucky

    but ur really good

  • how do u steer with the paddle only got a kayak 2 weeks ago and dont have a clue lol

  • the harder u paddle on the left the more u will go to the right

the harder u paddle on the left the more u will go to right

    that the basic

  • should of been more exact when i was asking the question, when your on a wave what way does it work how much of the paddle do u use and and what angle , thanks mate

  • oo

    sry

it depeneds on wat kid of kayak

and if u need a really hard turn

thne u to hard hard left dig the paddle on the left side

not starir donw but like leaning back

same with right saide but to go right

but it depends on size of wave and size of kayak

  • thanks mate i have a 14 foot sea kayak , will try the tips out the next time the sun comes out lol

  • wow!

do you guys go through a bunch of paddles like I do?

  • awesome!!!!

  • very good, music really suited the clip...spot on
