Rocking!! Masterpiece.. Glad that I've lent my ears to this song and glad that i've downloaded the entire album for free at DownloadMusic[DOTTT]im , ..
Them Crooked Vultures are just an amazing group with great members. This song reminds me of earlier rock, in a good way, they made it sound modern at the same time, y'know?
Your opinion may be valid, but the only person in the band who didn't make their name in experimental music is Dave Grohl, and even that's kinda iffy. There's nothing wrong with not being about experimental music, but if Homme's in the band, expect don't expect to see something super mainstream.

Don't get me wrong, I love what I'm hearing. I just think they could go a lot more mainstream than what they will if they play this kind of stuff.
Like with QOTSA. Songs for the Deaf went massive because they reigned in the weirdness and focused on punching out a radio/MTV compatible record. As much as I love Rated R songs like Feel Good and Monsters really were unnecessary and alienated a huge amount of listeners.
And thank christ for that! Feel good and Monsters were two of the best songs on Rated R.
The last thing we need is another awesome band going mainstream. And this is three of the greatest musicians of the last couple of generations, I don't think they'll need any help! All of their shows are completely sold out, and that's pretty much without anyone having heard anything.
I'm guessing you're joking about those two, or haven't listened to them for a while. Apart from them, and maybe Quick and to the Pointless the record is pretty special. Auto Pilot and In the Fade are just amazing.
I think that the people that recorded such great albums as 'Rated R' and 'Songs for The Deaf' were doing so by listening to the sounds in their heads and hearts and portraying that w/music. This is how great music is made, not by thinking of MTV while composing or recording.
their first 3 albums all kick ass. monsters in the parasol is great. feel good is whatever. that whole album is fucking crazy, i think i lost my headache?? that song is crucial. i enjoy the songs nick oliveri screams too, like quick and to the pointless and tension head.
i wasn't huge on lullabies but lately it hasn't left my cd player. still not huge on era. i'm completely for the first 3. i think if there were a few from nick on era it could have spiced it up a little. still nothing but respect for qotsa/tcv and all parties involved.
Dave Grohl did get his start in the DC hardcore scene. It may not have been that experimental, but it definitely wasn't mainstream. Anyone who listened to the Probot album can tell that his musical interests go beyond just the Foo Fighters.
Oh my god this stuff is great! The legendary John Paul Jones with two of the best modern musicians, Josh Homme and Dave Grohl, this stuff is great. I have to get the album, and need to see them live.
thank you you unlike the others (who are very narrow minded and are unable to read) think i was saying they are all shit when i just don't think they work together..
and i dont think they should try to sound like led zeppelin or anyone they should have their own sound.
Out of the songs I have heard by TCV I think this is probably my favorite so far. It's got such a nice combination of rock with smooth slides and vocals.
Very tight, I love it. Too bad the slide is too much centre. If the rhythm guitar had been cranked up a bit it would've been even better. I like every one of those musicians, life is great.
Grohl and Homme don't (seem to) care about the business, it's all music for them and Jones is music. I used to be jealous of the 20s, 30s, 50s and 60s I didn't experience, but today's a good music era too.
read it on a couple of sites, including rolling stone magazine...it also says that the title is going to be 'never deserved the future' ...but you're never sure of course :)
fuck you for saying that TCV is shitty! if you hate on those guys, then you are a douchebag and a failure at life and identifying good music. nuff said bitch.

love all this talk abt "Rated R" - like ThePolarised said, that one's pretty special for me too...
i certainly hope Josh gets into his "weird" headspace for this new one, that's where he does his best stuff IMO. Initial signs are good...

I was kind of hoping they would reign in Josh's experimental stuff in this band ... looks like he has full control though.

No, Josh and Dave have both said 'Songs for the Deaf' was a radio concept album ie. every song on it was written with airplay in mind.
Anyway It's interesting New Fang is now the first single to be released, very keen to hear the studio version on Monday!

Agree with dragon067, I think the song might be called New Thang, but regardless of a name it's awesome

I hear "fang" also every review of all three shows has reported the title as New Fang, so I'd be leaning towards it being that title.
