People say this to me a lot, about how everything Ron Paul does should make me happy if I really support him, but the truth is, no politician can represent 100% of anyone's views. His view on creationism for example is brought up constantly by liberals who have nothing else to attack him for. 1.) Probably. One of the organizers of the Boston Tea Party in '07 was Tom Kiley of INN Radio. He is a self described 9/11 truther and firm supporter of RON PAUL, and he did have RON PAUL at their Tea Party event in '08. So, without knowing for certain, I would say that the "Patriots" that supported the Tea Party in '07, who were 9/11 truthers and END THE FED'ers, also supported RON PAUL in '08.

2) Rick Santelli's "Taxed Enough Already" Party movement co-opted the libertarian/patriot's Tea Party and tried to call it theirs, changing the message from "stop wasteful spending" to "don't increase taxes" to re-direct pressure away from the bail-out.

The Tea Party Express is, just like you said, is a Neocon/Republican-backed attempt to draw populartity off of the growing dissatisfaction of the federal government under the guise of patriotism.
