  • A true classic thanks for the post ;)

  • hell yea this song always reminds me of devils rejects ...rock on brother

  • Very Cool Song kind of reminds me of when I was growing up :P

  • what 3 did not 'like'?

  • AWSOME !!

  • He actually is singing about a "Booty Call"...when he is singing..I've got one more silver dollar...well, years ago, Condoms were packaged in circular tin foil wrap, hence the "Silver Dollar"...term...

  • God Bless the outlaws that RIDE!!!!!!!!

  • song about me for me and all outlaws out there southerns greatest

  • song about me for me and all outlaws out there southerns greatetest

  • Awesome song a true classic, thanks for the post you rule! :)

  • THIS IS THE ORIGINAL VERSION THAT I REMEMBER HEARING ALL THE TIME IN MY YOUTH!!! Completely different sound from the usual studio version recording that you usually find in searches. I love this version!!!!

  • flymarvin, you are some sad freak. feel sorry for you man (if you are a real man?) which I doubt.

  • Google Scooter herring. FUCK GREG ALLMAN IN HIS MOUTH. Hope he dies soon.

  • @flymarvin ain't no need for hatin man. Duane loved his liitle brother for a reason, fuck you for sayin different. though peace man, i hope your diggin everythin!

  • This is Gregg Allman singing, not the allman brothers.

  • LOve this song but "Devil's Rejects" even more lol

  • I Love this song but still best ending to "The Devils Rejects" ;)

  • Awesome video, but "Sheri Moon Zombie" is hot she just has creepy laugh LOL scares the hell out of me :P

  • Freedom and desperation, all rolled into one. You have to live it to appreciate it.

  • I feel like I am riding a horse at day break across a field with a lever action in one hand and the reigns in the other.

  • This song would have been better if the Marshall Tucker Band would have done it they would have included the FLUTE!!!!!

  • yeehaaaaaw.....raw hide!!!! i would love the rodeo.

  • Love it, wicked version!

  • This version has proven really hard to find. I love the atmosphere.

  • Hmm...band formed in Jacksonville, FL and later based out of Macon, GA. Let's see...original and early band members came from Jacksonville and West Palm Beach FL, Nashville TN, Chicago IL, Ocean Springs MS and Birmingham AL. Southwestern rock? Okay, I give up. How did you come to that conclusion?

  • yall dumb is not southern rock it southwestern rock learn ya history pal listen to the guitar style listen the rhythm of the song very carefuly and drink more moonshine and get it rigth. don.t forget bush he rape us too

  • @davidntia06 Umm...southwestern rock? There isnt such a thing. The music from those areas usually has a mexican flavor or a native american flavor to it, and there is no such thing in America as "southwestern rock".

The Allman brothers are from the South. Georgia, etc. and this IS southern rock. They came straight out of listening and learning from the old black bluesmen of the SOUTH.

  • @SarahRachel59

Actually this was directly derived from an old shaman spirit just west of Crackleberry Crick. It was literally extracted from the rare rock in the water there. Thats why its called southern rock--its actually a mineral.

Come on bro, your losing it

  • @Rizzy55 Ok, back slowly away from the crack pipe now....just put it down...you can do it....

  • I always knew this song reminded me of something. It reminds me of Jeff Beck's 'Loser'. It took me forever to figure out what it reminded me of (aside from the movie, 'Devil's Rejects') but I finally fingered it out at work today. Yay for me!

Anyway, I love this song, though I prefer the faster version. Also, I hate Beck... heh.

  • Classic !!!

  • Yall do know that this is about Paul Revere right?

  • I read a book called cross over by Beverly Lowry based on Karla Faye Tucker wherein states Karla had admiration for the mafia.I Wonder if she knew about the great notorious Al Capone?

  • Wether it's country or rock and roll, it f..... rocks!!

  • Gregg, hope you get stronger and healthier every day.

  • Old CLASSIC country at it's best...

  • @pattyaaron

    This is not country!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @wthjrtx1 ya thats what i thought , not country

  • truly an outlaw song

  • I am not a Southerner, but I love this music, always have. I've been to Stone Mountain for the light show they put on,not a dry eye in the place after that ,believe me. There is a heritage that they preserve, and this music is a big part of all that .

  • a good ole song to listen to in my 4x4 in the woods, love it...

  • I like both versions of this song (Greg Allman solo) and the Allman Brothers version. However, this version to me is slightly better due to the excellent keyboard throughout and the brass in the middle section.

  • yeah, good ole souther rock, down here in georgia is what is happening..

  • Jazz fest Sunday

  • Laid Back - I wore out the 8-track twice.

  • Best version I've heard and I like them all.

  • don't talk shit unless u can back ur ass up

  • Hey whats the song called?

  • hahahahhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • This is the best song and Barack Obama is a Lying, Stupid, Big-Eared Nazi by Larkin Huey is the best book I've ever read.

  • fuck you man, you are probaly a George Bush/satan worshipper, at least Barrack Obama stould up to the wal street prciks while bush stood in the corner and sucked pee wee hermans dick

  • @oldhouse09 barack obama is a wall street prick the least you couldve done was spell his name right

  • Obama is a wall street prick?Wow you really know nothing then because he was the only one who blamed them for this mess right in front of their faces, he has balls.Bush did not, he created this

  • just because he said it doesnt mean shit he vowed to end the war in iraq but instead moved it to afganistan i dont care what he said its actions i care about

  • notice how in august we start taking out troops and plus he added troops to get on the side with the republicans, its simple politics

  • well you see, he is contributing to it atm.

Health care won't help the deficit. Neither will more troops. Ron Paul is the only person of the '08 race that has stuck to his word throughout the years. Against the illegal iraq war, and a strict constitutionalist, such as Jefferson.

  • ron paul is very good, i like him, jefferson and eisenhower were the best, really overrated

  • underrated i mean

  • @B29Bomber What in the fuck is wrong with you people? Why talk about this here?? How the fuck?

  • @immortalcorruptor087 They sound like a bunch of posers to me too, must have never had a drink or even a taste of whisky.

  • you assholes take a great song and talk a bout tex-ass and obama. g-damn assholes

  • Truely one of the best songs out there. Long Live Texas!!

  • Obama is going to drive this country so far in the ground. It won't be long before guys like me will becaome Midnight Riders. Desperate, determaned and on the run.

  • There is another version of this song on their greatest hits cd. Does anyone know their names?

  • Comment removed

  • I love texas but I'm from wisconsin

  • ya i'm from michigan, it doesnt matter where ur from. at least i dont think it does.

  • Nope it dont..its all about the heart!!!!!!!

  • One person down below got it right- this version is NOT by The Allman Brothers Band, it is by Gregg Allman, appearing on his 1973 solo LP, Laid Back. The Allman Brothers Band had previously released it, but it was a band arrangement and not that of Gregg. This arrangement is closer to what he was hearing when he wrote the song. The Laid Back album allowed him to play it the way he wanted to play it. A similar version is also on his 1974 double live album.

  • i used to listen to this song in my head on my motorcycle as i weaved through traffic on my way home from my gfs in the middle of the night.

  • I dont think there could ever be a better song, and NOBODY could do this song better than the Allman Brothers. Makes you want to throw your things in a bag and walk off and leave everything and every problem behind you

  • this is my shit!

  • This is southern rock at its best

  • There's no way in hell that this song can be rated less than 5 stars, and even 5 is too few.

  • @jimmyjoemeeker

I totally agree. I grew up with brothers that listened to rap, r&b and grunge, this song is better than all the stuff they listened to. I heard it (or at least a version of it) for the first time on Rob Zombie's movie House of 1000 Corpses. I'm glad he put it in there or I wouldn't have known it existed.

  • @sumuthaguy wow how sad

  • yes the deveils rejects!

  • play this at my funeral this is good

  • The Devils Rejects

  • This song reminds me of driving across the country with an illegal car

  • @oreninja illegal car? or illegal substances in the car?? haha

  • with some Colombian bam bam.....

  • @oreninja wooooohooo hella ya turn it up lol shit were out of smokes bro we gota stop some weres (WE AINT STOPIN TELL WE GET THERE ) ya......................... kill the lights some ones coming lol ya nice

  • best song ever written!!!!

  • A Masterwork.

  • Fuck Waylon Jennings rendition,Allman Brothers for the win!

  • h3y u can't judge the Allman bros on any simple discussion of originals vs. a song-cover here or there; they're easily one of the MOST talented/unique of all southern rock/blues-rock bands ever, easily..

i saw Dickey Betts & friends this summer live over in Jackson,, it had the signature Betts+Allman type of harmonic genius =][=

  • either way original or not you have to give them credit for their musical talent i dont see any of you people singing so quit talking shit

  • Actually, this is Greg Allman's solo version from fall of 1973, featured on his album Laid Back...The original Allman Brother's version was from their 1970 album Idlewild South.

  • This is THE original version, so, as usual, you don't know what you're talking about.

  • this is not the original so you dont know what your talking about son!

  • no way this version is the best!!

  • this song kick ass

  • this version sucks...dont mess with a good thing allman bros

  • this version is great

  • hell i aint even got a quarter...

  • Nah. willies version kind of sucks compared to this one. Something about the way he sings it... Kind of sucks...

  • i think its because he sucks

  • i like both versions, but willies is better

  • i've gone by the point of caring...

  • great song! music travels and breaksthrough all barriers, religions and beliefs......salutations to this great band, this great song.... saludos from this Mexican!

  • hahahaha nice one

  • It doesnt matter where or who you come from , you want to rob a train.

  • hell yea!!!

  • classic

  • songs awesome video sucks

  • very true

  • I like this version better than the other one.

  • and the road goes on forever...................

  • I have just discovered this song recently (it's from before I was born), and I really like it. Can someone tell me the difference between this version and the one from Devil's Rejects? I like both versions!

  • I like both versions too. I have the Devil's Rejects version on CD. This version is from the beginning of Walking Tall. I highly recommend that movie. Look up it's summary or ask me about it. It's an extremely good movie inspired by a true story.

  • THE DEVILS REJECTS

  • love this version. kinda smoky, if u know what i mean.

  • When i play this in Rock Band i'm gonna have a Rockgasm

  • This is going to be the highlight of the entire Classic Rock catalog in Rock Band 2. FOREVER.

  • Spectacular

  • This song was also on Walking Tall at the beginning. So fricking awesome!!

  • this song is like the roots of the deep deep south - the allman brothers are the roots of the deep south.

  • I like this version better!

  • I LOVE this great old priceless music. Thank you so much for posting this and all the other great old music you have on here. LOVE it,Love it,Love it.

  • I remember listening to this on a 45 while reading about the Bell Witch of Tennessee.

I'm forever haunted by this song, the lyrics, the exquisite dissonance of the instrumental part, the homage to vagabonds.

    Its beautifully apocalyptic.

  • OMG!<< I like this fuckin' version

    Go figure..

  • Now I like this version.
