It was obvious in their first few great albums that Heart had a heavy Led Zeppelin influence, and they have always covered at least one or two Zep classics on every show of every tour. They did "Rock n Roll" countless times, and it was on their greatest hits album. Nancy got to perform "Goin to California" in a duet with Robert Plant a couple years ago. She said the experience was unbelievable for he because she was now singing next to the guy she first saw 40 years ago who was an icon to her.

The story behind how Heart was formed is one of legendary Rock and Roll stories. Ann and Nancy saw Led Zeppelin in concert in Seattle in early 1970 when they were still teenage girls. At the time they were still naive, innocent, and pretty much quiet girls who didn't really know much about Zep other than their first album which was out only about a year. They were obviously blown away, memorized, and even a bit scared because they were still young and innocent.

While I grabbed the 73 MSG version of this tune to show a bass player friend JPJ's riff, I included this vid b/c it's my favorite version of this song. Page alone just can't match the power of his studio rhythm + lead riff (dubs), so having Nancy just buzz the chords out there and let 'em hang and fade...ooooh baby.
