In addition to the music and performance, I like the picture very much. I don't know why, but I find it a beautiful representation of the chamber atmosphere of the Baroque era. Who is the painter? Do you have any other information about it?
Paul Carl Leygebe (1664-1756): Tabakskollegium of Frederick I (1709-10).
German painter. His family was from Silesia. They went to Berlin in 1668.
Leygebe painted several large hunting scenes for the palace in Dessau. In the palace of Potsdam there is a large allegorical painting by him depicting the Elector on a triumphal car.
He was a professor of anatomy at the Academy in Berlin, and from 1699 to 1756 a member of the Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin.
I was thinking the same thing, in fact, painting helps to think how Bach or ppl from that time period thought, perceived, and composed music. Environment definitely played role i think, listen to this elegant classical music to their way of talking and dressing clothes. This painting is excellent portrayal of this baroque music that I am enjoying through my ear. This is music I think, not emotion, but music I am hearing. I must say classical music is prob. the most advanced music we L.
Is that a joke? If you say this is the best interpretation you should listen how Cafe Zimmermann plays it and you will feel like the happiest man on Earth :) It is on youtube. There are dozens of better ones on youtube I must say...
Warchal is amazing. Is he still alive? There was an "in memory" on a google search ... but his wikipedia entry was updated Jan 27 and doesn't mention ...
