I own the 16" Remo also. I agree the thing isn't near as warm as your LP but here in minnesota I can toss it into my truck 20 below out, drive it up to church. Walk in start playing while its still sounds fine. I love the big bass sound of the 16 but your right the slap rings big time. After hearing that LP of your wish I would have put the 250 for the remo towards one like that LP of yours. Nice video. Would have been cool to see and hear the Remo side by side with the LP. Thanks
@wannabeKeithMoon I was talking about the level quality of congas inside LP family of drums. The lowest is Aspire, then Matador, then Classic, then Giovanni Series. So those terms were mainly set for their conga lines, not so much for their djembes, though they do have a few different qualities.
Also, everything I play with down to the cables for my mics, are mine. My entire church once chipped in and bought me a drum, but I do not play with it anymore. Everything you see is mine.
Thanks for the insight...!!! You're right Djembes do deserve 5-Stars too!!!
Which would you recommend a Meinl or LP Aspire Bowl for casual playing and jams, and the occasional performance with an acoustic band in a small cafe? Thanks!!!
The Meinl djembe that I played with was a Floatune, that is their best djembe, about $200 or more than an Aspire Bowl.
So if I had to choose what I would like more it would be the Meinl..HOWEVER, I would say for what you are looking for I would go with the Aspire Bowl. They are going for $200 now, but I think it is a good fit for what you are doing.
Hope that helps...I am releasing more djembe videos soon, so feel free to subscribe to my channel, thanks again!!
If you have to choose between the Meinl, and the LP Aspire Bowl, which one would you recommend for casual playing, and performing acoustically in small cafes?
