  • Thank you very much for the video, I Iiked it a lot. I love Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady and anything else!

Julie is wonderful. The greatest actress, singer and writer I've ever known. Carol's words are so touching.

  • If there was only one person I would love to meet before I died (and she was still living) it would be Julie Andrews. Ever since I saw Sound of Music for the first time when I was around seven or eight years old I have always loved her and even now I love her, she is just one of those famous people that you could easily get along with as if you had known her for years, she doesn't come across even slightly as someone who has been in show business etc, she acts as if shes just a normal person.

  • words can't descrip Dame Julie Andrews..... she is the best, not one of the bests but THE BEST!!!!!!!

  • The 3 people who disliked this, have no idea what true talent is.

  • at 1:50 which song is that from Julie?

  • I want to be her when I grow up.

  • When I was about three years old I learned to say Supercalifragilisticexpialidous. By the time I was seven I could say It backwards.

My grandmother died eleven years before i was born and she is the only other person in my family who likes music. She used to go round the house singing that song. So thankyou julie Andrews for giving me a connection to a grandmother I never had...

THANKYOU JULIE ANDREWS FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART

  • does anyone know where I can find Angela Lansbury's honors? I can't seem to find it anywhere....

  • I believe, and I hope I am not wring, but everytime I see Ms Andrews, whether it be on TV in a show, or Great Performaces, or in interviews, from the present back to the late 50's...one thing keeps popping into my head, "Class." My definition of class is someone who makes the company they are in, no matter who they may be, comfortable. She is gracious, kind, respectful, 'loverly'....to us all, in all situations. She is a prize for us all to enjoy, no matter what age you are. "Class".

  • @ferrierepc you speak my language!

  • @ksulie thanks so much1!!!

  • @ferrierepc I agree x

  • What a wonderful woman! God bless her :D

  • I actually started to tear up when it got the clip of "The Sound of Music"

  • wow, I mean can you get any classier? Julie is the epitome of class and grace hands down.

  • Carol and Julie are great what a tribute

  • I thought it was also very touching when Carol said "She is my favorite thing"

  • As a waiter in L.A. I had the privilege to serve both Julie and Carol many times. Two very classy ladies, indeed. Sang happy birthday song to Julie's daughter. Will go to my grave being able to say I sang with Dame Julie Andrews.

  • She's sooo adorable at any age

"Oh, it is lovely... I know you Americans are famous for your hospitality but this is ridiculous." Haha!

    "She's our fairest lady." I couldn't agree more. :))

  • I wish Carol could sing more in this tribute. she sang so beautifully and can tell she and julie have great friendship and affection with each other.

  • love Julie and Carol..they dont make them like that anymore!

  • Thanks so much for posting this!

What a beautiful tribute to Julie, such an amazing lady and such a legendary voice.

    Carol did a wonderful job.

  • "Old friends" is from Merrily We Roll Along--"Putting it together" is a compilation of Sondheim songs

  • This video is such a lovely tribute, it's just perfect!! Could they have made it better :-) :-) ?

  • i just love julie andrews..

  • holy shiza they still use the same stage for the royal variety show

  • Oh man, the years went by, But Julie remained to us as the Fairest Lady of them all! Even fairer than Snow White herself!

  • please pass the tissues!!!

  • Ooooooooooooooh!

  • This got me crying from the first few seconds.

  • Julie Andrews is and forever be my hero!

  • holy snap she is 70+ and julie still looks amazing o.o

  • why are julie and carol so close with one being english and the other american

  • why would that matter?

  • there is no nationality for friendship... Julie's voice is something! this video is fantastic!

  • Why not !!!!!!

  • there's nothing wrong with that. It shows that friendship is the strongest weapon a man could ever have in battle...

  • i didn't mean her singing which she managed well, but her looks have radically changed. to me she really looks ill and not just 70, but i hope i'm wrong. thanks.

  • Wonderful! The best voice and diction ever. Big question, was Carol Burnett ill at the time? Best friends, deservedly.

  • no i think she was just crying and that made her not sound like usual

  • I actually liked it when Carol's voice cracked at "what's to discuss", so touching! Love it!

  • My Fair Lady is among the small number of "classic" musicals I would like to actually still see and do. While The Sound Of Music is a great, seminal musical, I am just personally tired of it.

  • our high school did my fair lady my frosh year

  • The Sound of Music is my favorite musical and my favorite movie. I will never ever get tired of it! =)

  • after carol burnett said it's in her blood the music i could of swore it sounded like a little priest from sweeney todd, i was singin try the squire he's on fire. lol

  • The Sound of Music is my favorite movie by far.

  • The Sound of Music is my favorite movie too!! Mary Poppins is my second! =)

  • What song did Carol Burnett sing please I have to know. Does anyone out there in You Tube land know?

  • It's called "Old Friends." It's by Steven Sondheim. Hope that helps.

  • Thank you new friend (lol)

  • lol no problem :]

  • wow

    gorgeus!

  • I AM BAWLING MY EYES OUT HERE! Julie is godess. Just, wow.

  • Her beautiful voice brings tears to my eyes!

  • Was that the very beginning of Carol Burnett's portion? Or was there something before it? I realize that the Kennedy Center Honors are not broadcast in their entirety, so perhaps there was more but it wasn't on TV.

  • There was definitely more. I wish someone would upload her full speech as well as the two songs cut from the second part :/

  • Julie is class

  • haha, i'm watching the sound of music on abc family right now!!! haha LOVE Julie Andrews

  • I think it's Lynn Redgrave.

  • Who is the woman at 6:12h??

  • Omg Tearing Up Over Here. I LOVE Julie Andrews

  • She is so regal and classy.... and I don't think she's aged from 50 onwards! lol

  • She was 66 at the time of the Kennedy Honors...still looks great for 66.

  • i heard she is in her 80s. i hope i look that great when im that age

  • no now she is 73 shes not in her 80s but shes Julie Andrews she looks great at ANY age!!

  • cool. thank you for the correct info!

  • no prob.

  • she actually is 72

  • Wikipedia says she was born in 1921, which would make her 88. many stars lie about their ages and we only find out later.

  • she actually 73

    i dont trust Wikipedia

  • she was born in 1935, so she is 74

  • dont get me wrong....i love audrey hepburn...but julie is way better as eliza

  • Please the Pavarotti Honors of this same year!"

  • I love Julie!!!!!! She is just so talented!!!! Great video, thanks for posting it!!!

  • I love Julie so much!!!! I cried when I saw that video. Carol is really a great friend to Julie!

  • Julie Andrews will always live on.

  • thanks for posting! just one thing mamma mia is now the biggest movie-musical ever. well at least i think it is cause i read on one site that mamma mia made the most money for a musical ever. so i think it beat out sound of music but this was made before mamma mia came so yeah ok just wanted to point that out

  • It may have made the most MONEY, but you have to keep in mind the generations who have adored The Sound of Music and how it continues to live on. Somehow I doubt that Mamma Mia is quite going to live up to that.

And does that "most money" thing count the fact that the value of a dollar has changed since when SOM was made?

  • Actually Mamma Mia beat out Titanic as the most popular DVD in the United Kingdom if I recall. The Sound of Music is still by far the highest grossing musical ever, adjusted for inflation.

  • 5.45 does anybody know what this picture is taken of? (lol I´m sure this isn´t proper english...)

  • It's from one of her recording sessions. I want to say that it's from when she did a recording of "The King and I", but I could easily be wrong. Anyone else have a guess?

  • Yes I thought so too and I watched the whole ehm... thing. But I couldn´t find it. It´s a great picture and I only wanted to hear the song she sang with such enthusiasm.

  • Did you know that Julie Andrew's Real Name is Julia? It is.

  • You are correct! Her birth name is Julia Elizabeth Wells. When her mother married her stepfather, Ted Andrews, her last name was changed. Her first name was then changed because they thought that Julie Andrews sounded better than Julia Andrews.

  • I love seeing carol singing to julie. It reminds me of their varity show. I love them both!! I wish people still entertained like these wonderful women.

  • You and I both! I wish I was around when their variety show aired! I LOVE JULIE TO DEATH!

  • Love her, she's amazing, SO talented.

  • Whats the name of the movie at 4:45?

  • Thoroughly Modern Millie. It was released in 1967.

  • Thoroughly Modern Millie, I believe.

  • Thank you very very very much to post it. I really really really love Julie Andrews. It made me cry. The word 'thanks' is very small to express how much I feel about it.

i love her she's like my hero

  • Julie Andrews is the epitome of class. I love her!

  • A thousand thanks to whomever posted these tributes to Julie Andrews; this helps compensate for not watching the Kennedy Center Honors in 2000 - an inexplicable oversight on my part.
