Atem was amazing throughout the entire series, the show had me really interested in Ancient Egypt :3

listening to this song has me missing Atem a lot but it also makes me wish to visit Egypt someday in the future :3

@jaymitra95: well...I do recall when that when approaching the Pharaoh you have to step with the left first to show respect, but that's about it. I'm still learning about Egypt whenever it airs on National Geographics. But other than that, there are some things about Yugioh's Ancient Egypt that could be similar to our Ancient Egypt (Minus the duel cards).

@jaymitra95 they really didn't dabble in the real ancient tradition except for when Yugi's grandfather spoke of how he found the puzzle, the whole left-foot forward thing, and how to properly respect a tomb, other than that it left it blank. I've studied Ancient Egypt very thoroughly, if you have any questions, just ask. I'm also pretty good at reading Hieroglyphs.

Atem is supposed to reference the Egyptian god Atum, who had many crowns that looked like atem's hair in a way. Seto Kaiba is named after set/seth the egyptian god of chaos, and the winged dragon of ra is named after ra, the sun god.

Atum was said to be one of the first deites of all. And, while Ra represented the sun in the middl eof the sky, Atum represented the sun in the sunset. Thats what wikipedia told me :P

But Egyptian mythology is awesome.

But "Aten" Could have also been inspiration for Atem's creation.

Maybe it was a mix of Aten and Atum. xD
