Why compete with Hollywood, the movie industry is becoming obselete. Bollywood is a breath of fresh air. I enjoyed Inception but i dont know why this guy is making a fuss out of it, indian people dont want movies like that. they want larger than life films
@zyshanwhosane Actually Ra.One is a perfect example of what Aamir saying! Invest into the writing of the script! The script for Ra.One was horrible enough that even my 12year old son said "Mom the special effects were great,n the idea was good, but the story was horrible.I thought it was supposed to be a superhero movie but the main character is only concerned about his son, whose not his son?,and his wife, whose not his wife.Superheros r supposed to save the world MOM!" -Sorry Aamir is right.
fuck urself. u r not making films for 'indian' audiences. u are making films to build ur commodes in money. because u and the other stars have painstakingly taken 20 years acting in shitty films and leaving the audience, producers n distributors with no options. whom are u fooling man?!
Like he says, the prime responsibility is to his audience.. if the audience enjoys such movies, then as a creative person (actor/director/producer) his first responsibility is to meet their requirements... also as an actor he would pick scripts with scope to act in.. if he sticks to only scripts that are intellectual etc., he would be considered pompous.. as for Dhobi Ghat being a bad movie, that's your opinion so I wont comment..
@chiragatronacious - Oh please dont try to act smart, Dhobi Ghat was disliked by the masses. I enjoy intellectual films to, dont defend the indefensible Dhobi Ghat was an Epic Failure. Get well soon son.
Snoop thinks Bollywood is ahead of Hollywood - I agree with him - I think Aamir and the interviewer are needlessly feeling inferior - best films I have seen in the 2000s are Hum Tum, De Taali, Break Ke Baad, Fast & Furious 4, Fast & Furious 5 - Hollywood's heydey was upto the early 1990s
@RimoltFreeGuy - Deepika sucks balls in the lead role (Priyanka would have been ideal) but the basic premise shines through - strong fiery woman needs stabilising, soft steady guy needs strengthening - love eventually does find its way home - the 'softness' of the movie has no counterpart whatsoever in western cinema i.e. if you use western analytics you miss the feel and fabric of the whole experience - same for De Taali which is simply magical and Hum Tum which is like a love-opera
@sanjuz I certainly agree with you that Hum tum was indeed a simple yet impacting rom-com emphasizing on the vast length of time, decades indeed that can sway in the process of passionate love realization...I give 5.5/5 for Hum Tum. Saif and Rani blew off their roles flawlessly...De taali was a simple comedy on the other hand. Yet impacting at the same time.
Bollywood is pulling up its socks, I would undoubtfully affirm that prolific filmmakers such as Yash Chopra, late Yash Johar , Karan Johar, Abbas-Mustan, Vinod Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Nikhil Advani and newest kid on the block Aamir khan are going the extra mile to promote Bollywood on an international platform. Thumbs up!
@RimoltFreeGuy - Indian commerical cinema in the 1970s and now again in the 2000s is streets ahead of nearly all western commercial cinema ever made (with some notable exceptions) - lack of resources in the 1970s and the ongoing cultural-inferiority complex of the Indians has never in my opinion allowed a fair and objective evaluation of Hindi cinema to emerge - and I am a big fan of both Indian and western movies by the way
this is one of my favorite clips - the best summation ever of the bollywood-hollywood question. he's managed to get his points across without dissing either industry. something some of the commenters below might want to think about.
Inception was the brain child of a British director, mostly with British actors..The reason the movie was even made was because The Dark Knight made a Billion dollars and therefore the studio went along with it..Hollywood is even worse than Bollywood when it comes to Original ideas..if you look at the last few years, the only movies coming out are either comic book adaptations, sequels or foreign language rehashes..
@harpa012 go get a life dude whats a matter with u by saying that hollywood is worsen than bollywood ...let me tell u that everything in bollywood is fake and copied. the movies, the actors, and espically the awards .. i agree even some of hollywood movies are remake or taken from foreign languages movie.. but not like bollywood that 90% of their movies are copied from hollywood or rest of the world..
bollywood is just dancing around the trees.if bollywood made 500 movies in a year in which minimum 400 movies script is not original.some script from telugu like ghajin this movie adop from hollywood movie, wanted, bodyguard ,readyso many and most of scripts are from hollywood movies carbon copy and not only copy but also spoil hollywood script by adding meaning less dance and comedy.i think there is shortage of creative people or may people are not ready to take risk.......................
ABEE CHODU AAMIR TU EIGHTS ACTORS KO INSULT KAR RAHA HAI DISCO NACH KAAR SHALAAY SUYOR KUTTA KE AULAAD MODRCHOD TU LOSER HAI LOSER HI RAHEGA SHALAA CHUSA HUAA AAM

@kamaalshah hahaha.....we appreciate you strong skill of the hindi language....but please if you really want to take revenge.....leave your friends who have taught you this language.....go study...work hard....get passionate....be a famous actor...mae your own cinema....and make a nation love you!!....and then when someone is interivewing you...tell me how it feels to read such a comment....god help me!!..
he is right about our lack of talent management in creative writing, since we are volume driven profits minting industry really. but, again that happens across the xollywoods of the world. the point is that i was a little surprised at the lack of positive energy he otherwise exudes in his movies, but feels a) india cannot follow suit on movies like inception and b) we do have some really great movies like rann, rang de basanti, stanley ka dabba, well done abba, but we fail at the marketing that
@tagarw1 once in while we have intelligent comments like these which are detached and just say things like they are....:) thanks, whoever you are. i really get amazed at some of the hatred which spewed from behind anonymous profile...
Eh, speaking as an American, Aamir shouldn't give Hollywood so much credit. Yes we can imagine but not all that's imagined gets to the screen, even if it deserves to be. Just as in India there are still social lines that still aren't crossed. And Americans make stupid movies too.
The guys like Anurag Kahyap and Sriram Raghvan are trying to do something which is new otherwise directors like Sajid Khan and Kjo are ruining Indian Cinema's image.
I don't consider INCEPTION as an INTELLIGENT film,it was just multi-layered and complicated.
that last part he said is do true, people around the world should start appreciating the people behind the camera, particularly the screenplay writers. we often forget them and assume that the words in the films came from the actors where the dialogs came out.
I think the reason why other nations cannot do films like some of those Hollywood ones is that, other nations doesn't have the number of movie enthusiasts that Hollywood have. We have to admit that ticket sales is an important part of movie production and in some nations, majority of the movie goers go to the cinema to relax and be entertained so they always choose the films in popular genres. movie producers cannot take that much risk because the budget for films are relatively high.
wow, aamir khan does have excellent foresight. india needs more people like him to carry her out of dumps (which is pretty much where she's parked now)!
@asfandyarNo1 u cant be surprised at his reaction, i mean the truth hurts and he couldnt take the fact that amir pointed out that hollywood is far ahead of indian cinema.
He is a simple down to earth person. If any person can say this its him, bc he's the best indian cinema has got.. So if it was an ordinary over hyped actor like amitabh or sharukh would have said it i wud criticise them. but amir I respect.......
Aamir Khan wasn't trying to be offensive when he talked about how Bollywood is 'behind' in terms of theme and what not for movies. he's not an egoistic maglomaniac, he's trying to say that Bollywood hasn't really come to the level of cinema that it will eventually come to in the future. relax.
CULTURE give us limitation to mae free movies and free creation on our CINEMA INDUSTRIES...
his speech in my country is called for filling sausages with air... talking talking talking going no where but giving to people impression that he knows a lot...
HOLLYWOOD is a bullshit CINEMA industries... care only about money and reach the biggest quantities of people they can..
Bolly wood makes films like Tees mar khan or many other stupid film, we all know that how many Indian people watch Inception or The Prestige and how many viewer understand the last scene of Inception ??? Main thing is that more money include those movie producer can take risk make movie like Shatter island in Bolly wood.
Our people can't take dhobi ghat so we cant expect that we make a movie like Bable or Angel and demon?? and who direct those movie Ram Gopal Varma or Subhas Ghai ??
@amarsahor - Dhobi Ghat was a bore, why should the audience accept an abhorrent piece of thrash like that. Shutter Island a risk are you mad. Indian films wont be upto Hollywood standard as Hollywood movies have higher budgets, look at Shahrukhs new disaster how can you make a super hero movie with 175 crores which is 35 million dollars...when dark knight and Hollywood ones cost 200 million
@pratiek1 - You seem like an obsessed gay fan of Shahrukh Khan. This video has nothing to do with SRK so fuck off and go and bum him. We are entitled to our opinions.
I think you have misunderstood what Aamir is saying. By in large he is not underestimating Indian viewers rather the opposite... he is undermining the Bollywood film industry as they are not able to take risks with films as they feel dumb films have more chance of making money and fairing well in the box office. Very few people in the Industry have taken risks and that includes Aamir, just look at the types of films he has worked on.
^What someone else said, but should be emphasized.
@felixjacksonbambaboy - Dhobi Ghat was a disgraceful movie no where near Inception. But that doesnt mean this guy called Aamir should negate his industry he should aspire to make films of Hollywood level. I was just saying that this guy instead of promoting Hollwood and dying for Oscar should promote his own country, where one day it can reach the level of Hollywood. And i said Bollywood is better in the context of creating movies with lower budgets and still being interesting.
@Musiclegends100 Why do so many people hate on Dhobhi Ghat, I just don't get it! Liking a movie is totally a matter of taste, so I'm not going to say a lot about that, but many people seriously liked the film~! iT WAS so friggin' beautiful man!!
Why are you giving Aamir such a hard time? He's spot on. He's speaking from an intellectual perspective, because the question demands it. He hit the nail on the head with comments about Hollywood dumbing down movies. I started making the extra effort to also watch Hindi films (3 hrs of subtitles is no cakewalk) because of the violence and 'can your top this' sex scenes in even R rated movies is overwhelming. One movie can't suit everyone, especially in markets as large as India and America.

Guys like priyadarshan, akshay kumar can make movies 'like' inception, i would definitely not wanna watch. but i am happy that we have movies like Udaan , which are very realistic, who knows we can make good science fiction movies in the future, none of the Krisss or such tripe
I think Indian TV channels should have more intellectual interviews like this one rather than pointless talk shows like that 'Koffee with Karan' sorta crap where all hey discuss is gossip, gossip and more brainless gossip. Kudos Rajeev Masand, we need more like you.
This guy is a good actor but he vastly underestimates his own country. Its a shame that this actor is the national pride of India when all he wants to do it win a foreign oscar. Aamir Khan is a great actor no doubt, but i dont like his egoistic personality. He doesn't merit the title of a perfectionist. A perfectionist tries to perfect every nature of his profession, while this guy is a copy cat and a rip off who dies for fame.
@buba267 - Motherfucker i can criticise who i like its a free world who the fuck are you an obsessed fanatic that cant take a criticism...did he employ you or are you his family....i am not exaggerating and dont use the thesauras to portrat a point on Youtube...you dumb ass unintellectual faggot
@bollywoodclips1 Erm, don't you think that you're the one who is taking on the egotistical tone? He's humbling himself A LOT by saying these things, and they're not put-downs. He's talking about the avenues that he sees for progression. There is always room for progression.
Isn't this the same guy who copied Memento and claimed that it was 'inspired' but completely different to Mementio. And here he is talking about why India cant do Inception, the Indian people are not stupid most of its population today are highly educated. Actors like this guy do anything to lick the ass of the western world and negate their own country. This guy is an egoistic megalomaniac always seeking for attention one way or another
@Musiclegends100 Infact he copied it from ghajini the tamil movie which already was inspired from memento, so this guy is like king of copycats, a royal copy tiger.
@ace41r - Indian population classify him as a risk taker and a perfectionist...lmao...this guy always plays it safe in the box office...Ghajini was a rip-off...3 Idiots was a rip-off from a book....Taare Zameen Par he got a poor man to direct it and kicked him out and stole all the credit...this guy is a fail...he has a huge follwing amongst the unintellectuals in India
@ace41r its not a copy of the Tamil movie, because the same director directed both the movies in both the languages.. its a mere re-make to suit the Hindi speaking audiences. But yes, it was definitely inspired from Memento which is why I think it was an over-rated flick.
@Musiclegends100 accepting Hollywood is better than Bollywood doesn't mean Aamir is licking its ass, it merely means it's true(to some extent). What Aamir must have also mentioned was: the only way to become better is to accept the fact that you are still not the best....
But heyyyyy, we're getting there! We have the best movie songs in the world, and we produce the most movies per year! Go Bollywood!
@hapkey47 - which country takes defeat and is a pessimist..the India economy reached its position in the world due to competing with other countries and improving its competitiveness level. Aamir Khan degrades the awards (which he can) and Bollywood movies which other actors make. He acts like a huge intellectual...Bollywood is bigger than Hollywood and more quality that should be his thinking...pessimistic thinkers like him degrade the boundaries in which India has leapt.
@Musiclegends100 In what terms would you say that Bollywood is bigger than Hollywood? Because I don't think that just saying that will make ti so, and the facts definitely say otherwise.
@hapkey47 How do you judge the best? Who makes more good movies, or who makes the single best movie in any given year? The rest of the world probably does not see all the crap movies they turn out every year as well as the really good ones. Commercial success often replaces substance.Movies copy each other here. Violence is far too graphic, as you can see in almost any Quentin Tarrantino flick. And what about moral obligation. Is okay to turn out corrupting movies if they make money?
@hapkey47 Bollywood doesn't make the most movies, Indian movies(all the languages included) make the most number of movies internationally. Bollywood is just one of them, maybe one of the big ones, but not the only one.
@Musiclegends100 Instead of trying to attack him personally... Try at least 1% ... to see if wat he's telling is true.. Well Indian audience are matured .. The way films like 'Wanted ' .. 'Dabang' or the 'Dhoom' series.. are glorified ... Tell me how well, were Dobhi ghat or Peepli live or 'Black' received ??
@sagaryvv - But isn't he being hypocritical because he is starring in Dhoom 3 and starred in a Hollywood rip-off names Ghajini...this guy talks something and acts another way.....Dhobi Ghat i watched it its nothing intellectual...its a movie worth throwing in the bin. On the other hand Peepli live was good and made over 32 crores in the box office without any star cast..not bad isit...
@sagaryvv - Hey fish head what about Tere Bin Laden and Udaan they did well, movies need some content to succeed. They do succeed in terms of star values but not always. Look at Dhobi Ghat which was taking the piss out of Indian Cinema..why should movies like this succeed?
@Musiclegends100 He's not talking about intelligence at all, he's talking about cultural views,socio-economic standards and really the state of the industry. Most of the comments on here seem to be from people who took offense to his argument without even hearing it out and taking the time to really understand it. I love Aamir Khan because he doesn't take himself seriously (as is opposite to the general culture of "heros" in Bollyood) and is able to be dead honest about everything.
@Musiclegends100 well indians may be smarters in math or everything ..but movie making is art 2 ...and hollywood is best at it...not becase they are smarter just becase they started it earlier then india started and now they have bigger lead in the world.
@syas13 its already dubbed and many saw it in theatres.....chakravyuh in hindi and aarambham in telugu so any one cannot have such a production value as inception....it will be failure with both critics and box office...(pl go bcos of nolan if same movie with other director need not be same response)
@syas13 this is very hard movie to copy ....if you do it wrong it may look like joke...but same time i have seen most expensive india movie and that was pretty strange to me.
i liken aamir khan to geniuses like christopher nolan, james cameron, stephen chou...who are master story weavers...not highly dependent on movie effects but true satisfying story line and well crafted performances.that's why i follow this guy just recently.
This lack of creativity in india is not something born out of years of poverty or colonial rule , it is a result of our schooling system which encourages us to mug up everything .Children who pose questions nd challenge ideas r tagged as problem makers or nuisance while those who cram the book and get an A grade are rewarded , this plants a notion in our head from childhood that thinking out of the box is useless and should be avoided gradually our brain accepts it and stops thinking that way
Bro you've got to be joking! Holly wood isn't ahead of the movies in India trust me I'm bored of the movies holly wood comse up with now. By the way Aamir is an amazing actor I've watch all of the movies he's in
@buckethead10Alex i just recently know about him because of three idiots and ghajini...now im hooked on bollywood...he's amazing...now i want to watch all of his movies..hollywood should learn from this guy
Actually Christopher Nolan himself said that he wouldn't have been able to make Inception if he had not made the commercial films Batman Begins and Dark Knight first.
Hey everyone, i'm from the Philippines.. and I recently saw "3 idiots". I love how real and genuine the movies was. Like if it's a BINGO game, it already won the jackpot prize. Very deep and real. I'm looking forward to see more bollywood films. A very true to life story, not just some comedy or drama. Bollywood you took my heart away. ;)
@elybox same here, i just recently know about aamir khan and now im bollywood amir addict hehe ...it's not the usual hollywoodish shit man...it's really genuine from the heart film which we rarely see nowadays..by the way 3 idiots is the toppest grossing film in bollywood history
2. Why does he cares about money? There are movies like Little Miss Sunshine, Hurt Locker, Kids are all right which haven't earned huge, but they are critically acclaimed and they have got oscars.
Well I think the reality of the Bollywood industry is that many people see hindi films as a way to escape the harsher realities of life. Bollywood love stories are impractical and wtvr but they leave you feeling all warm inside--the whole notion true love and innocence. It is harder to go into other more serious ideas or complicated ones, because that isn't what many people want to see.
@texasbengali386 So why movies for all people? Let it be targeted for few ones only. When we take bigger steps instead of baby steps, then we can only cope up.
@Pranavissmart Hi hope your doing well.
1. I liked Dhobi Ghat. I think this is the film which will India choose for oscar, although it will not be in final five. But still, he hadn't took much risks.
2. There are countries like Algeria, Ivory coast, Taiwan, Bosnia which are way underdeveloped than India but they have won oscar. So he should stop taking baby steps and better he should take high jumps.
@Pranavissmart its true, look at movies like dabbang they are sucessfull and you really have to leave your brains behind to watch his movies. our imagination is next to null compared to hollywood
@lookwhoscomin Why compare hollywood? Compare Bollywood with other countries. There are countries like Algeria, Ivory coast, Taiwan, Bosnia which are way underdeveloped than India but they have won oscar. So he should stop taking baby steps and better he should take high jumps.
@asfandyarNo1 Why compare hollywood? Compare Bollywood with other countries. There are countries like Algeria, Ivory coast, Taiwan, Bosnia which are way underdeveloped than India but they have won oscar. So he should stop taking baby steps and better he should take high jumps.
@Pranavissmart I'm sure there are many intelligent film viewers in India, but he is right. More people want to see masala films like Singh is Kingg or Dabangg rather than an intelligent mind-puzzler like Inception.
I am seeing the point that you are trying to prove. I am not a big fan of Amir Khan, but I think that whatever he said is right. To prove my point, I am going to refer to the following examples: Singh is kinng, Om Shanti Om, and Welcome.
@skdfjgskgjhflsk Why compare hollywood? Compare Bollywood with other countries. There are countries like Algeria, Ivory coast, Taiwan, Bosnia which are way underdeveloped than India but they have won oscar. So he should stop taking baby steps and better he should take high jumps.
@skdfjgskgjhflsk Also many teenagers of my school have watched Inception. In fact the no. of ones who have watched Inception is more than the ones who have watched Om Shanti Om, Dabangg etc. I am not saying to him make a movie like Inception. But he can make a movie like King's speech.
Dude, I will never believe that more ppl in your school have watched Inception than the stupid movies like 'Dabangg and Om Shanti Om'. Also you are right with the fact that movies like 'The King's speech' should be made but the problem is that most of the Indian public that watch the movies do not prefer to watch movies that require brain and thinking. This was the point I was trying to prove before.
aamir is such an intelligent person!

I think the point here is that Hollywood makes films for the world, while Bollywood makes films for Indians.
Hollywood collaborates with people all over the world too.
Collaboration and highlighting non culturally specific but universal topics would appeal to a wider audience.

@sanjuz Break Ke Baad is tht gd??? Really think so?? Well its an opinion...
RimoltFreeGuy 6 months ago
@RimoltFreeGuy - Deepika sucks balls in the lead role (Priyanka would have been ideal) but the basic premise shines through - strong fiery woman needs stabilising, soft steady guy needs strengthening - love eventually does find its way home - the 'softness' of the movie has no counterpart whatsoever in western cinema i.e. if you use western analytics you miss the feel and fabric of the whole experience - same for De Taali which is simply magical and Hum Tum which is like a love-opera
sanjuz 6 months ago

Thumbs up!
RimoltFreeGuy 6 months ago
@sanjuz thats because deepika is not an actress
MrMasoodrodman1 6 months ago
@RimoltFreeGuy - Indian commerical cinema in the 1970s and now again in the 2000s is streets ahead of nearly all western commercial cinema ever made (with some notable exceptions) - lack of resources in the 1970s and the ongoing cultural-inferiority complex of the Indians has never in my opinion allowed a fair and objective evaluation of Hindi cinema to emerge - and I am a big fan of both Indian and western movies by the way

Eh, speaking as an American, Aamir shouldn't give Hollywood so much credit. Yes we can imagine but not all that's imagined gets to the screen, even if it deserves to be. Just as in India there are still social lines that still aren't crossed. And Americans make stupid movies too.
FutureSoapStar09 8 months ago
@FutureSoapStar09 twilight saga biggest example . if u agree
SuperAiden007 2 months ago
Aamir is so stupid that he took 5 minutes.
The answer is very simple:
Westerns have got better brains than Indians.
RKRFilmsss 8 months ago
that last part he said is do true, people around the world should start appreciating the people behind the camera, particularly the screenplay writers. we often forget them and assume that the words in the films came from the actors where the dialogs came out.
mudcorem 8 months ago
I think the reason why other nations cannot do films like some of those Hollywood ones is that, other nations doesn't have the number of movie enthusiasts that Hollywood have. We have to admit that ticket sales is an important part of movie production and in some nations, majority of the movie goers go to the cinema to relax and be entertained so they always choose the films in popular genres. movie producers cannot take that much risk because the budget for films are relatively high.

'Inception' was a over hyped film that just pretended to be intellectual while actually being purposely vague with glaring plotholes.
Dhobi Ghat was a wonderful movie, beautiful cinematography, experimental film making which is very rare in India.
But then. Dhobhi Ghat didn't do well, did it?
And look at all the attention Inception got.
Just sayin;.
felixjacksonbambaboy 9 months ago
@felixjacksonbambaboy - Dhobi Ghat was a disgraceful movie no where near Inception. But that doesnt mean this guy called Aamir should negate his industry he should aspire to make films of Hollywood level. I was just saying that this guy instead of promoting Hollwood and dying for Oscar should promote his own country, where one day it can reach the level of Hollywood. And i said Bollywood is better in the context of creating movies with lower budgets and still being interesting.
Musiclegends100 9 months ago 2

Why are you giving Aamir such a hard time? He's spot on. He's speaking from an intellectual perspective, because the question demands it. He hit the nail on the head with comments about Hollywood dumbing down movies. I started making the extra effort to also watch Hindi films (3 hrs of subtitles is no cakewalk) because of the violence and 'can your top this' sex scenes in even R rated movies is overwhelming. One movie can't suit everyone, especially in markets as large as India and America.

@ace41r its not a copy of the Tamil movie, because the same director directed both the movies in both the languages.. its a mere re-make to suit the Hindi speaking audiences. But yes, it was definitely inspired from Memento which is why I think it was an over-rated flick.
aishu247 9 months ago
@Musiclegends100 accepting Hollywood is better than Bollywood doesn't mean Aamir is licking its ass, it merely means it's true(to some extent). What Aamir must have also mentioned was: the only way to become better is to accept the fact that you are still not the best....
But heyyyyy, we're getting there! We have the best movie songs in the world, and we produce the most movies per year! Go Bollywood!
hapkey47 10 months ago
@hapkey47 - which country takes defeat and is a pessimist..the India economy reached its position in the world due to competing with other countries and improving its competitiveness level. Aamir Khan degrades the awards (which he can) and Bollywood movies which other actors make. He acts like a huge intellectual...Bollywood is bigger than Hollywood and more quality that should be his thinking...pessimistic thinkers like him degrade the boundaries in which India has leapt.
Musiclegends100 10 months ago 2
@Musiclegends100 In what terms would you say that Bollywood is bigger than Hollywood? Because I don't think that just saying that will make ti so, and the facts definitely say otherwise.
felixjacksonbambaboy 9 months ago
@hapkey47 How do you judge the best? Who makes more good movies, or who makes the single best movie in any given year? The rest of the world probably does not see all the crap movies they turn out every year as well as the really good ones. Commercial success often replaces substance.Movies copy each other here. Violence is far too graphic, as you can see in almost any Quentin Tarrantino flick. And what about moral obligation. Is okay to turn out corrupting movies if they make money?
susanjmaki 10 months ago
@hapkey47 Bollywood doesn't make the most movies, Indian movies(all the languages included) make the most number of movies internationally. Bollywood is just one of them, maybe one of the big ones, but not the only one.
