  • Great Song 80S Life !!!!!!

  • lovin' it . . . .

  • I knew someone had to make a gay or sexual reference. I recall in the eighties when 'gay' meant happy- which is actually what these people seem to be :)

  • Am I the only one thinking they are a British version of ABBA? Suspiciously, their group was even created somewhere in the times of the end of the Swedish group, that is the beginning of the 80s.

Damn, they even look more scandinavian than english. Not suspecting a rip-off or anything, but it's just amazing.

  • @ekhangel No it's just you. I couldn't imagine abba bopping around to this song, but try Brotherhood of Man

  • lovely song <3

  • hmm the guys were yummy!!!!

  • C, Am, F, G.....

So typical pop harmony, used by everyone, started by Abba and ended with Ace of Base :)

  • What it is about?

  • best fizz song EVER

  • This is my favorite song of all time. N they look like they r enjoying it sooooooooooo much !

  • GREAT......LOVE IT......SORRY FOR THE OTHER IDIOTS ....THAT DOES NOT HAVE A CLUE WHAT IT IS ABOUT ! !

  • Uses so called "italian" chord harmony - C, Am, F, G :) countless songs of this style....

  • @ JJmacd: I will always look and hear this song differently now that i know its a politically incorrect song.

More importantly would you bang Cherly today at age 197?

  • cant make it stop! ITS IN MY HEAD, wheres my gun, oh godddd

  • I'm 16. I have to deal with rap n R&B and all that shizz.

  • Cocaine is helluva drug

  • You can keep all the r'n'b divas & teenage wannabies on 4Music & Viva! etc .... Cheryl and Jay are REAL ladies! I wonder if Cheryl ever wore that outfit in panto, and if so, how many Dads went home VERY happy?

  • Cheryl an Jay, yum yum x x

  • Jenny. Craig.

  • I want this at my funeral AWESOME!

  • something nasty = MArgaret Thatcher

    never would have realized that

  • where did the music video go??

  • i love the song cos it reminds me of my childhood, but you listen to the lyrics and you think what the fuck?!

  • @ilivelovenlaugh yes mee tooooo....

  • They tried to be like ABBA!!! Fai

  • didnt celine deon do a shitty shitty version of this?

  • @JJmacd ...are U on Drugs ? Celine Dion touching Shite like this ???

  • holy shit man, the lyrics "nasty in your garden" are fitting.....

  • ****SUPER SONG LOVE********

  • Man , I had to see this once again to remember what a crap this was...and to think that an ex member of King Crimson participated writing the lyrics for this...corny as hell.

  • @lalbruiz I love the King Crimoson influence on this song, take away the bouncy tune and the lyrics are really sinister

    "something nasty in your garden"

"try to run but it won't let you"

    "your dream is burning"

and on the original single it fades out with the spoken lines of

"I've a friend who came to tea

that nobody else can see but me

he came to saty but bhad to go

to visit you, you never know"

Live in fear the spirit is cominbg to your house!

  • @wezthewezwez Damn, you are right. I said this was "corny as hell" refering only to the visual part, but never bothered even to pay attention to the lyrics. Happens the same with ABBA, you are so busy listening to the music that you don´t pay attention to lyrics...and ABBA´s lyrics were nasty, LOL..."I can see, what you are, but you seem pretty young to be searching for that kind of fun, girl you are only a child" Good point you make, thank you for the comment!

  • Oh man I love this tune!

  • Certainly a top 100 song of all time. Might even be in the top 10 imo

  • There are very few songs that don't resemble any other song. Those songs are always the best. And this is definitely one of them, so different from anything that I've ever heard. I've always loved this song: Excellent authors, excellent arrangement, excellent melody, excellent rhythm, excellent singers. Excellent performance, especially this version which is a bit faster.

  • cheryl was hot back then i would tap that ass.

  • Anyone notice how the lyrics of the song make absolutely NO sense??

  • @dlk1dlk1 About 75% of popular songs don't make sense.

  • That diverse and complicated choreography just COMPLETES this video! The excitement!!!

  • Jay looks extraordinarily beautiful here. Love the jingly jangly backing on this version too, why wasn't it on either of the Lost Masters cds?

  • @FatknackerMacca I agree Jay is a very attractive lady she has a great body any hot blooded man could not help but to fancy her.

  • noob this group was big back in the day go bcuk fizz

  • Saints preserve us!

  • i reaLY like this song can hear it 100 times over and over

  • this song makes me want to kill kittens. *dies*

  • I am gay but I think Jay Aston was fabulously attractive. She could't turn me. I am more inclined to fancy Mike Nolan, now he is well fit!

  • @richardsonjames1971 Well, there's no accounting for taste!! Not for all the corn in Carolina, mate!

  • @jtaellio11 It should be all of the corn in Iowa as it is mostly tobacco in Carolina. Great cheesy song, but a catchy tune.

  • @efrem1 Yes, we've all had a bit of trouble interpreting the complexities and hidden meanings of Bucks Fizz lyrics! We settled for a 'gay subtext', considering its time and placing in the eighties! John.

  • @richardsonjames1971 Jay was very attractive, for a woman.

  • Wow, that's some seriously rad walking they've got going on there.

  • Comment removed

  • there is this sweet innocence in their act, such contrast with what we have in stage performance today.

  • what always got me was....carolina is not famous for corn!!

  • very nice!!

  • This is like 20 years ago, right? the 1980's! So cute!

  • Try to count 1-2-3...it's 30 years ago.

  • Well forgive me! Yes, This song came out in late 1981. It was covered by allStars* in 2002.

  • did anyone know cheryll was cvommando in this

  • your shitting me

  • Depois de 27 é que eu descobri o nome dessa música!!!!!!!rsrsrsrrs

  • Even assuming that Pete Winfield had Thatcherite proletarian alienation in mind when he wrote the lyric, the song is a lot more enjoyable if listened to as a child's dream or phantasy. Like all good art, the song offers more than one level of understanding. The most amazing thing is that Bucks Fizz recorded it and it turned out great anyway. Even Abba wouldn't have sounded much better if they did it.

  • spot on mate. i could not have put it better myself. 10/10

  • eu gosto bastante desta canção, eu tenho o lp vinil deste grupo e ouvi muito na juventude... é muito bom ver este video aqui no youtube.

  • Yes,found out that this song was written by a guy from "King Crimson"......It is about Thatcherism.....It is a great song......just because there is a certain innocence about it.....even if there is a hidden political message.....

  • Bucks Fizz were an awful group, useless on every level -- but this song is fantastic. Why? Well the words are by Pete SInfield of all people, the visionary lyricist for early King Crimson and co-writer of Greg Lake's brilliant I Believe in Father Christmas.

I don't go for the Thatcher critique model:

Land of Make Believe is a song about childish dreams and fantasy, a classic, magic. Whatever it's about it was wasted on Bucks Fizz: good despite them doing it.

  • Did you know, this song is actually a social critique about the alienation of the impoverished proletariate in Thatcherite Britain.

More importantly, I'd seriously like to bang Cheryl

  • Just read your comment and fuckin pissed myself, nice one !!!

  • haha excellent man

  • It looks like someone told Cheryl it was a fancy dress party and then everyone else turned up in normal clothes as a joke on her!

  • @opopanax100

    lol nice one

  • I love this song so much. Makes me feel like a wee kid again! Love it!

  • what are the lyrics?

  • It's true that the girls didn't have much time for each other but if you can see it in their body language, you must be on drugs! Total professionals.

  • Check out the body language between the girls - they hated each others guts..!!

  • Legend

  • One of the girls is wearing an Elf suit.

  • gracias por la respuesta, esta cancion siempre la tuve en la memoria y gracias a youtube pude volver a escucharla, la verdad no me acordaba ni del nombre ,solo algunas pistas de la cancion.

  • so cheesy lol

  • is that david van day

  • No, Mike Nolan

  • les 2 freres des modern talking

  • Mmm, the other versions sounds better. It would be funny at the begining when they are walking round if the fell over each other LOOl whoops i mean LOL

  • Well if being gay means you get to shag Cheryl and Jay then I don't wanna be straight. Cheryl's legs, yum! Plenty of meat on those bones.

  • I'm with you on that, PhunckyOne! In fact, I'm pretty sure that I've done Cheryl (or at least her look alike) more than a few times at a bar in Soho. As you say, YUM! I'd still like to see her again. I'm curious if we had any kids from the encounters. I would have married her in a heartbeat!

  • @ThePhunckyOne I agree they are both very hot ladies,I worked with a bloke years ago who had the real hots for Cheryl he had dreams for years of shagging her,I told him it would drive him mad trying to attain something so out of his reach,he can dream I suppose after all it is the land of make believe!

  • que maravilla, quien se acuerda del paso de este grupo por viña del mar,en que año fue ?,grandioso

  • Comment removed

  • Fue en el Festival de 1983, y la cantaron en español las 2 noches (El Mundo de Ilusión). También cantaron Noches sin Ti (One of Those Nights).

Visita el sitio raffem punto com y verás fotos de ellos en Viña en la parte de 1983.

  • XXXXXXX

wish The Fizz could tickle The World again, as they did back in 82!!! its said that this was made as a sign againt the Thatcher policies of the 80'S!!

The 2008 remix of LOMB on Lost Masters the last Cut, is very promissing and up 2 date ready 4 the 21 st century,

  • lorvley!!

arnt you going to pick up your soap!

  • The british Abba.

  • Christ! this is even cheesier than "making your mind up"

  • lovely:*

  • That's got to be one of the gayest things I've ever seen. Excuse me while I go barf now.

  • i agree

  • excellent love it

  • =) Beautiful, simply beautiful. . . =)

  • I like the marching, stomping, spinny-arm thing they have going.

  • its almost like the goodies meets frank spencer meets dolly parton meets abba. they all had a massive orgy of sex and this was the result 9 months later. this is all possible only in the land of make believe.

god damn it i love this song :)

  • i LOVE this song, have for a long time. Good to see them doing it "live" - such an underrated song. Should've been much more of a hit.

  • excellent choreograohy =D

  • This song is just too good to be true...

  • english abba

  • the bloke on the right looks like a shrew

  • Did the guy in the black overcoat forget his shirt??

  • Hahaha, probably. . . =)

  • the lyrics take on a bit of an edge if you suffer from manic depression.

    A great tune.

    Modern life is rubbish.

  • lol

  • cheryl baker u r still a milf =D

  • Also, I strongly beleive that 'Now those days are gone' by Bucks Fizz is so vey under rated, 1 of the best songs ever, it's in my top 20, mind you, I have about 500 songs in my top 20!(it's a bit of a squeeze!)

  • Catchy & good, Cheryl talks like a child TV presenter, I fancied & (still do) the 'other one'. Thought I'd search 4 the lyrics as 1 lines been bugging me 4 years, don't rec' many do know it as when I see people singing it they seem to either stop at that point or muffle, knew they couldn't be singing 'Your an alci' (alcoholic)once again', it's 'your an outlaw once again', didn't catch the line 'not 4 all the corn in Carolina either, You can hear a song 4 years & not know what they sing

  • VERY catchy, it is!

  • I used to love this when I was a kid!! haven´t heard this in a while!

  • Was this a "Stock Aitken & Waterman" song?

    Very Kylie!

  • cheryl got a great set of pins, just a shame her hair cut looks like a motor bike helmet, and one of those guys looks like nick handcock presenter of room 101 if you ever watched that shite?

good song tho in a gay 80's kinda way.

  • LOL - What is Cheryl wearing? She looks like a giant strawberry!

    Classic song tho!

  • What with the other one looking like a lump of meringue I am sure if put the two women together you would get a rather tasty strawberry pavlova!

  • unbelievable beautiful

  • ¡¡¡Beatiful song!!!

  • Wonderful song! Wonderful video!

    Miguel K. Hirata (from Brazil)

  • still looking for the sheet music for this song.... Anyone know where or how i could get it?

  • Easy to make fun of if you are a youngster ,but hey, this is alot of what it was like back then with "English" productions and shows like :top of the pops"

  • Anyone notice how the lyrics in this song don't make any sense?

  • How can that be? This is a GREAT song for a summer's day.

  • Bucks Fizz won the Eurovision song contest with Making Your Mind Up, so that is where they have been.

What is missing from this song are the following words:

"I have a friend who comes to tea, who nobody else but me can see.

He came today but had to go..

To visit you? You never know".

  • So this is what Nick Hancock was up to before Room 101.

  • i love this song soo much! haha

  • Used to love this song when i was litle, just watched it and it gave me goose pimples!

  • love this song and vid.grtz from holland

  • good vid

  • What is going on with Cheryl's hair ?

  • wtf where is the guys shirt and why is lady dressed as a stawberry um yeah great song creepy vid lol

  • i prefer the allstar version

  • Same

  • me too lol.

  • Cheryl Baker and Jay Aston are old enough to be your mother for some of you!

  • How tacky is this, but such a good pop song

  • cheryl baker is a sexy m************r!

  • That is the only performance of this song, that I have seen were Cheryl is relaxed with the dance moves, she is usually tense and Jay more at ease with the flow of the opening sequence.I like the elf outfit.

  • A Mexican group called Flans, that is my favorite group, sang* a cover of this song in 1989, named "El Mundo de Dum Dum"

  • A Mexican group called Flans, that is my favorite group, sung a cover of this song in 1989, named "El Mundo de Dum Dum"

  • who the f--- has this sort of stuff stored away for 25 years lol ...i used to love cheryls big bum back then :-)

  • I never heard of them. Are they ABBA clones?

ABBA clones and fizz - isn't that a clothing store? Sorry, couldn't resist. :)

  • Yes, they were inspired by Abba, and Bucks Fizz won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 for Britain, as Abba did for Sweden in 1974.

  • i cant believe we ever let fun music like this die..modern cd's should be issued with razor blades!!!! i still think this is their best song.....

  • I love this re-recorded version. What is Cheryl wearing? LOL.

  • jay in white hi heels does life get any better.

  • Bobby's open chest! so life did get better. LoL

  • She is wearing an elf outfit and it looks nice. What a great old clip and song!!

  • what on earth is cheryl wearing!!

  • Have always liked this song.

  • Wow! I had never noticed how Bobby G is hot. I mean, I noticed him way back in the early 80's but I had never seen this video. Thanks!
