Some real rare gems are present in this video. Ricciarelli seems to be singing the rare Puritani that was composed for Placido Domingo to sing. Joan Sutherland is singing the seldom-heard Swahili version, and in gorgeous voice I might add. As for Devia... Is this a mad scene?!? Why is she so frantic and hysterical. I can appreciate the drama, but she should have shown some restraint while singing this...
I did actually! I was poking some fun in my comment of course but I love most of these singers enjoyed this video immensely as I do most of your other videos. Thank you for the gifts you keep bringing to youtube viewers.
@ilfig1iomio Machaidze & Florez - I agree Aliberti - I agree Netrebko - I agree O'Flynn - she could not do it, that what's happened Rancatore - I agree Ricciarelli - I agree Swenson - I agree (perfect CD album title :D) Devia - I agree, but she is tehnicaly perfect + the tenor stole nothing, you can hear both Sutherland - she is good, nothing more

devia and swenson give a lesson of style. truly beautiful singing. young joan would have a great voice, but she is unable to articulate, a great flaw in belcanto. what happened to maureen? the other ones are very messy with vincenzo's music.
You have to give Maureen credit, you cannot tell from the clip, but in this production the aria has been turned into a mini-mad scene as her lover is killed in her arms... and no the last note was not her best moment, but the rest is good.
Nearly all of them have problems. What on earth is Lucia singing??? Anna and Joan (!) go flat at the final note, Nino and Desiree sharp, Maureen goes quiet! The final three are the best. I prefer Ruthy (despite some tacky ideas) and Mariella (was her stage director on annual leave?).
brava lucia ! brava katia! brava mariella! bravo matteuzzi lolol BRAVA DAME JOAN! and BRAVO COLORATURAFAN FOR BEING BACK ! I MISSED YOUR VIDEOS ! YOU RULE !
Swenson and Sutherland are my favorites.

I'll sum this all up in as few words as possible
Machaidze & Florez - cute
Aliberti - shrill
Netrebko - she's pretty I suppose, but the singing is flat
O'Flynn - what happened?
Rancatore - really great high notes
Ricciarelli - this role is not for her...
Swenson - positively golden
Devia - lifeless/ stand-and-deliver, mostly inaudible...the tenor stole her final high note
Sutherland - she's a legend
