@TehUberCyberBeast True but you must realise that OG players were alot different to many players today, mentally. Also, looking at other comments that you've made, your saying that the skills of Jeff were average. If thats the case then what happened when Jeff went up against Daigo a couple of years ago at SF2 AE? Jeff won the MAJORITY of those matches. He even perfected him on many occasions. At that time Jeff hasn't been playing for over 10 years and that says it all.
@TehUberCyberBeast You do realize that Jeff murked Daigo a few years back at Anniversary Edition, right? Back in 2004 they played a lot of games and Jeff won the majority. He had already been retired for more than 10 years, yet he managed to beat a player widely regarded as one of the absolute bests. It certainly lends credence to the notion that the OG players had a much deeper understanding of their respective game than players do today with say, SF4 or 3S.
@laakuma Jeff, the Wolfe brothers are beasts in SSF2T and you beating them 33-0 at Hyper Fighting is insane! Seriously, this goes to show that Hyper Fighting is another level of a fighting game.
This series is vids is a lot more interesting than I thought it would be! The mentions about the reaction speed are exactly the kinds of details I've been wanting to here about the "Golden Age" of SF for a long time.
I think the 3's are the worst ever, because of 1 reason. Parry. When somebody jumps on Ryu's head, that is 100% a MISTAKE. In the 3's you can parry the uppercut, and punish him for what he was SUPPOSSED to do (uppercut), That is a broken game.
Then again, we're all entitled to our opinions; just as how the OP doesn't like the 3's, I don't like 4 -- I prefer the parry system, and the ability to link combos w/o strict timing like in 4 (while 3's combos are about quickness, 4's combos are all about precision).
Then again, I can say that I haven't played 4 as much as 3 (3+hrs on avg for 3s, while <30m for 4). Growing up sucks -- time's a killer.
@laakuma I agree but I don't, that's one reason why I don't enjoy SFIII so much, but at the same time, 3 is a radical departure from 2 and was meant to be played much differently.

No, it's a different game. 3S is not supposed to be SF2 like Alpha isn't supposed to be SF2, or 3S.
3S is the ultimate mix up game.

@laakuma But Jeff, that's why you can use normals as AA too. Or vary your timing with medium/heavy SRK. Or use EX SRK for multi-hits :)

I still think 3rd strike is the best sf so far. What do you think of sf3 3rd strike?
