Even as a Sox fan, I always liked Mussina. As far as his HOF candidacy, I don't know what to say. He never really had any outstanding seasons, but he was a great pitcher that was consistent in what is probably a hitters' era. Probably should have stuck around for a few more seasons though.

I read some reports and I am crushed. The thought of him leaving the game would be one of the saddest days of my life because I have watched him pitch for almost two decades. He is a warrior out there and has taken some knocks, but got up again. He is my favorite mlb pitcher and new york would be dull without him on that hill.

So the Moose was the only good pitcher that Yankees had last season. Wang was injured for most part, Joba was injured for awhile (I personally think he should stay a reliever, he certainly was the best in 07), Hughes was injured most of the season and when he wasn't injured he didn't play well, Pettite did good for awhile then just sort of screwed up by the second half, Ponson, Pavano, Rasner, etc. all horrible, and all the rest of the reliever pitchers (excluding Mariano) were bad too.
