Maybe so they didn't ruin their clothes? That wouldn't be any fun walking around Universal the rest of the day with pie-stained clothes!

I do wonder why the edited in the season 3 theme over the seasons 1 and 2 reruns in the late '90's, for the sake of consistency, I guess? I do remember them leaving some of the season 1 and 2 shows unedited, so you got to hear the full main theme.
