It should be quite possible to create an effective and healthful caramel apple dye using either raw cranberries or beets (either of which, atleast, easily stains my countertop). Deeply red wine (a cheap jug of burgundy or shiraz, or possibly even cooking wine, using that in place of the salt) might also prove effective, although giving even a small amount to children is generally frowned upon, and is of dubious legality at best, in the U.S.A atleast, so I won't recommend it.
AB is sooo diabolicle! I will try the candy apple thing though. It is the wierdest thing: since 2009 I have been making candy apples, but they never seem to set up. They always end up ooey and gooey and sticky instead of crispy and crunchy like they should be. Maybe I should finally bite the bullet and buy a candy thermometer.... >.>
man u\i've been thinking and it's making me mad. >:/ why buy the same processed candy that you can get from the store for 50cents? that's so everyday, where's the fun? let the parents feed the birds as they dash their children's halloween, i don't care IF some toss them out. i'm making homemade goodies this year. with love and care and stop this nonsense right now! we're the next generation, we're the ones who got jipped on halloween, let's make it great for the next batch of kids :3
if you want to give away homemade treats just label them with your full name and phone number, people will be less likely to assume you poisoned the treats if you give them your contact information, because what kind of criminal would do that ?
@cathavenfostermom1 good point, i was just going to ask that. i live in the suburbs in washington, pretty safe. half the kids are our neighbors anyways. so would you guys let your kids eat homemade treats? i want to go to town this year~ white chocolate covered nutter-butters with chocolate chips for eyes make adorable ghosts~
Pantry Raid XIII Destination Chick Pea, we not only get AB's versions of Falafel and Hummus, we get a fried Chick Pea dish that seems a lot like the fried black eyed pea dish he described on "Best thing I ever ate".
How lovely that he gave an acknowledgment to the Pagan festival of Samhain. He stuck to mentioning the ancient Celtic end of summer festival rather than the modern Neo-Pagan celebration but I still give him points since he is personally an evangelical Christian.
I like that he chose to use different apples than the red delicious kind I don't like them I think they are to hard and taste bad and prefer golden delicious over any other kind
@annacrack whats so odd about that. when i make doughnuts i add meat salt to it.(meat salt being from when i make a steak on a salt block then scrape the meaty-salty powder off it)
I want to make the last two and eat them the day before I get my braces off. ;)

I guess he can get away with making home made treats because nis neighbors know him? Or the neighborhood is just very trusting.....or rich...

The only problem is that in today's world, if you hand out homemade candy you will probably get arrested or at least a visit from the cops.

@fae430 I understand the reasoning for his using those, however. They're smaller.
Oh, and periods and commas are your friends. USE THEM.

Nothing is odd about it its just funny because i recently watched the brussel sprout ep and i see brussel sprouts popping up again.

@bonkuraysan You can also just google Bacon Salt!
tons of meat salt varieties, Meat Mayo, and even meat popcorn!
trumbachd1 1 year ago
@trumbachd1 yes i could just do that but when i do it this way i kill 2 birds with 1 stone and the salt has a unique flavor every time.
