They have Piezo pickups on there cellos (I'm not sure which brand.) then they run it through distortion. You can us a pedal, preamp, a really nice guitar head (or a nice combo like a 6505+.) just make sure what ever amp you are going to use has a nice clean channel, if you want to do clean stuff, and have it still sound close to a acoustic cello. If you are intrested more in this kind of stuff. I can message you a URL to a forum that has a ton of info on this.
