  • Oh this made me smile :) Especially since I am only getting around to watching it on January 7th! You can get an idea of when my Christmas cards went out! And yes, people seem to understand for the most part. Spoonie Holidays!

  • @neartpuppy That's the way to do it! No rush, no deadlines -- just get to it when you can. :) Big hug, Diana

  • I agree that dishes can wait without fussing! Mine are always sitting so quietly in the sink and not a peep comes from them, lol. Glad you had a fun Christmas!

  • @potsiemommy Gotta love cooperative dishes! :) I let my nerd show when I told my husband that Christmas week would be like finals week in college -- when I'd let my dishes stack up because I focused completely on studying. He looked at me like I was from Mars! Ha. But yes, if it's not screaming, it can wait. Take care of yourself, Hon! I know the road has been a bumpy one lately. Big hug to you, Diana

  • Thank-you for doing this vid :D Made me laugh, so helpful to hear someone say the thoughts I only think in my head lol. This community has helped me greatly with my guilt issues. It's nice to know there is others that feel the same way, it has helped me to lower my expectations of myself with less guilt. For many years now I made the mistake of trying to pretend I was not ill at a high price, this year is the first time I allowed myself to make modifications and I think it was one of our best :D

  • @FootprintsIntheSand7 Oh, I'm so glad it helped! We certainly need to drop the guilt. It's hard to accept that some friends/relatives just "don't get it", but we can't try to make a spoonie's round peg of a life fit into someone's square peg of expectations. (Man, that analogy was hard even for me to follow!). Anywho -- so glad you eased up and made it one of your best! Big hug,

  • @PrettyIll1 I loved the analogy! :D So true! Happy New Year! <3 xo

  • For gift wrapping, I just wrapped them as I bought them. For cards, it took me 2 weeks to make up about 2 dozen cards but I started on them at the beginning of November and just held onto them until it was time to send them out the first week in December. For food, I started making candies and cookies the week before Christmas and I made simple dishes for dinner. Next year, I will make YouTube videos of everything I do. I'm so proud of myself!

  • @sarahdionna OK, are you sure you are a spoonie? HA. No, that's great, Hon. More than I could even CONSIDER doing (well, maybe I could consider it), but my Christmas bonnet is off to you! Maybe if I started next year's Christmas cards this week for next year, I'd have a chance. ;) Looking forward to your YT's! Big hug,

  • @PrettyIll1 Lol yeah. Most people don't ever see me being really sick or even think of me being sick because I am such an overachiever wanting everything perfect. Plus, when I am really sick I stay in bed or the bathroom and have nothing to do with the rest of the world so they have no idea. I have been paying for all I have done and I am actually getting ready for a Dr's appointment right now. It was worth it though! :)

  • @sarahdionna Yea, I used to hide, too (obviously, that was before I 'came out of the closet' on YT!!) Recently, I decided NO MORE MAKE-UP for doctor appts!! It's not worth the effort, and BOY, they understand NOW that I'm sick!!! Ha. Being an over-achiever is one of the symptoms of hydrocephalus, Hon. It just makes me wonder a little about Diamox for you! :) Sorry, it's hard to keep my "doctor" side in the closet... Big hug, Diana

  • This is the first year that I had all of my stuff together and everything sent out on time. It was pretty much flawless. That being said, I started on everything in October. It took me several days and lots of breaks to do everything but I gave myself tons of time to get everything done. My house was decorated before Thanksgiving and I took criticism for it but I don't care. I wanted a really pretty house so I made it a priority but I did wait until the day after Thanksgiving to light them up.

  • OMG! The bow and earrings are adorable!!! I've definitely been using the last few days to recover from the holidays. Hope you had a merry Christmas!

  • @RecoveringPotsy Thank you, my friend. I spent HOURS in "make-up and wardrobe". HAA!! I hope you are recovering well, Sweetie. Lots of rest -- deal? Gentle hug to you,

  • For gift wrapping I tend to go to those places that do dollar donation gift wrapping and get ti done all pretty and support a good cause. The are often in main shopping centres in Australia.

  • @kirafaye Great idea! OK, next year, I'm headed to Australia for gift wrapping. :) Thanks, Sweetie. Supporting a great cause while you relax. HARD TO BEAT! :)

  • omgeez! you are adorable!!! i love the rockin earrings!!! and great idea with the prepopped corn and the list of folks in order of understanding! niiiice! I love what you did with your hair! your carol burnette is showing!

  • @debradebbiedeb My Carol Burnette is showing? Are you talking about my roots, my friend? ha. If you only knew how hard I worked at HOLDING BACK, I bet it would frighten even YOU. Big hug, Diana

  • that it works for me then my boys. After so many years of fighting, but for the most part being forced to just put up with this stuff, there is fianally real hope for a brighter future for a whole family and I never would have known anything about it if it wasn't for you putting your knowledge out there. It is made all the sweeter that my realisation that this just might work for us came at this particular time of year THANKYOU SO MUCH DOC you will be in my thoughts and prayers for ever.

  • @NJSMKMMS Oh, Hon, you are SO welcome. You made me teary, I must confess. The improvements that you've made and the hope you now have for your family is why I do what I do. You make it all worthwhile. Thank you for sharing that. Now, LET'S CELEBRATE THE NEW YEAR! It's going to be YOUR year, my friend. :) Big hug, Diana

  • Happy and healthy Christmas and New Year to you and your family Doc. Thanks to the Sod Crom and Zyr I ate all the Christmas food we had this year. I have not been able to do this since 89 I have to admit most of it was modified to some degree but in pervious years it was too and it still made me very ill. I also got my Diamox script today in the mail. So excited. My husband did a mad rush and picked it up from the pharmacy today and I am going to try it tonight. Praying that I don't react and

  • Diana, I don't even have to hear you properly & still find you visually entertaining. Still having audio probs. You're such a laugh with the bauble earrings & Xmas bow wrapped around your head like a big Xmas present. I suppose this could symbolize you giving us your knowledge (BRAIN?) for xmas...lol. Hope you & your family had a wonderful Xmas. Hugs galore.

  • @rickileeway I thought about you when I made this vid! I am still using the same (dang) microphone. I forgot to ask Santa for a new one. I'm so sorry the sound is still not up to snuff, but I promise to work on it. K? Meanwhile, thank you for chiming in! HA! Yes, you can have my brain. Take it. Someone. Please. :) Big hug, Diana

  • Happy holidays to you, too, Diana. And some great tips to help us spoonies not feel guilty about only doing what we can and making sure we take care of ourselves. I think that's the best gift we can give our loved ones; feeling well or as close as we can get to it. =)

  • @juliewayout Great point, Julie! A "guilt-free Christmas"!! Imagine that! Next year, I'm considering pizza delivery and eating on paper plates! :) With enough love and laughter, who would notice the difference, right? :)

  • @PrettyIll1 Absolutely right! Feeling good is contagious, just like someone feeling crummy can bring everyone down. 10 hours preparing a fancy meal can't fix that!

  • you look FABULOUS! (: thanks for the tips! i totally over did it this christmas!! oy vey! i LOVE shopping but i did WAY too much of it! i love the mall but online shopping is so much more practical! you made me laugh so much with the dishes! hehe we stick to paper plates hahahah. classyyy! xoxox

  • @innerbeauty1000 That is SUCH a compliment, coming from you! Thanks, my friend. PAPER PLATES!! I'm all over this!!!! Big hug,

  • I LOVE your earrings and hair bow - it is awesome!!! Great advice to surviving the holidays - I know I over did it even before Christmas got here. It is just so hard not to overdo it.

  • @appyjess Thanks, Sweetie! I don't have any trouble not over-doing it any more! It's a well practiced skill and I have perfected it well. ha. So, do you think the hair bow will catch on? Isn't it fun to be a trend setter? :) big hug, appygess...

  • @PrettyIll1 Maybe - you never know! When I was in middle school/elementary school I would make bows around Christmas with the bows you stick on presents with ribbon hanging down. Several people started doing it after I started. I thought it was cool, but you could only wear them once or twice unless you used a bobby pin.
