@emmetor The Prophet Five was actually released prior to this. The Pro~One was built to be a cheap one voice alternative to the Prophet Five. As retro said, it has a forty night sequencer and up/updown arpeggiator. While the sound is different, imo it's the closest to a Prophet Five in the Prophet line.
How many tones could you programme in the Sequenser? 32 ?
And they were divided by Seq 1 and Seq 2 !
'I remember when playing live and reprogramming between songs the new bass lines.. those were the days.
Often the first tone got triggered when you turned on the Sequenser, so you had to learn to record the last note FIRST, then the rest, to get it right.. well well
I need expert advice please! I'm looking for a cheap-ish keyboard (something like the MicroKorg price range) that would give me this kind of fat bass, moog-ish sound... Can anyone suggest anything? Ideally something I could use with Ableton Live, and as a regular keyboard for gigs. Help!
Alesis Micron, it's about as close as VA's get to the "real" sound. Way better than the MicroKorg. Also if you have a midi keyboard, look for a used Evolver on eBay, I just got one and it's amazing, there's nothing quite like real analog!
Like the guy said, the Jen Synthetone SX1000 is great. Bought one myself and though it has limited functionality, it's cheap. Can be recorded as an audio source if you don't wish to fork out for the extra for a MIDI retrofit, and I love mine!
I mean you are asking for a lot in that price range, but you could look at something like the DSI Mopho, which is in a way sort of a modern Pro One (I know, I know its not a Pro One but it is real analog! Chill your jets with a flame war). But, it is just a desk top module and you will need a controller keyboard to play it.
retrosound: Das is zher Gute! Si sind ein er...fabulous! Now, please post the settings you used on the AWESOME pro one so that I wom't have to spend an hour trying to 'dial them in'...
I like flanging and phasing effects from the '70's and it was even fun just jamming a square wave into a parametric and fiddling the dials / sliders... I built and designed a bit of my own audio (and other) electronics... including lots of active filters...and P.A.s
Which, after all, isn't all that surprising considering that Shoot your Shot was very inspired by I feel love - only 5 years AFTER Giorgio Moroder's masterpiece:)
Yup... another cool demo. And yes... this one sounds really good on my studio monitors too. Hmm... I just might do a Korg Mono/Poly demo. Unless ypu beat me to it. ;)
i have one of these which i swapped for a delay pedal about 15 yrs ago because the person who had it did not know how to use it and thought he got a good deal
Unreal ,.,This first note actually shakes the room ,.I am using an older JBL LSR series 8 " / 1' tweet. This piticular you tube clip was recorded very well. Not your average sound ,.at least to me. Its just more than the synth cuz I have a Moog.
Love your vids man!!So i'm looking for the phattest analog synth and i'm down to 4:juno 60,sh101, sq pro-one and mopho.I think pro one is the best,How about the mopho?By the way i produce music on the lines of DAF,NITZER EBB.What do you think. Thanks!!
I have one :)

lovely sound from this synth
What's the diff between this and the prophet 5? I know the 5 is polyphonic, and this is probably a lot earlier.
IN terms of functionality though.. what's the difference?
emmetor 1 year ago
@emmetor
the sound is a bit different and the Pro-1 has Arpeggiator and Step Sequencer

@retrosound72 If you don't want people to make the comparison , you shouldn't give it the same name.
I don't know how the Pro-1 relates to the Prophet-600 in terms of functionality and price, but I like the second one more I guess.

SX1000's are pretty cheap but they need retrofitting to work with Ableton

my suggestion is to have a bassstation rack and a cheap novation keyboard controller
its not analog but its quite deep for its price. there is the keyboard version of the bass station but i dunno if its midi
MalteSer001 2 years ago
Yeah. The MicroKorg.
rsadlier 2 years ago
If you're using Ableton, why not just stick with VST's and get a cheap-ass midi controller?
seenherdressedinblue 2 years ago
You are kidding, right?
MikeTheMan990 2 years ago
Not kidding at all. I think he should start small and save up for something decent in a higher price range.

So reminds me of recording in Pittsburgh around 1982-3 using the 808 and the 'Shmoe'- what we called the Pro-1.
We recorded in a re-worked barbeque shack-hot in summer, cold in winter, The gear always held up though.
