Glenn Tilbrook & Elvis Costello were the 80s to me. The music, the lyrics, the wit, the unasssuming hipness -Proof positive that the ladies really do go for us "squares".

I'd agree but Squeeze's lyrics were written by Glenn's writting partner Chris Difford. To praise Glenn alone would be doing a dis-service to Chris. Together they are the 80's Lennon and McCartney (even if the latter two wrote separately most of the time!)
