  • those look yummy! i dont like tart apples, what would you suggest tt would be a sweet apple with the correct texture? Thanks a bunch! I def want to try these! PS-i think it scool that you got a nice crisp cust without frying!

  • Betty, if you was to fry them, how long would we fry them for?..thank you--Angie

  • @nkr1695 I would pre-cook the filling. Then when they are fried they will be done as soon as they are golden.

    --Betty :)

  • I've noticed in your videos that you use store brand ingredients. Most people don't take advantage of the savings (over time) benefits. :)

  • Couldnt you use a Biscuit cutter Betty, for the Circles?

  • @bettyskitchen hi I really luv your recipes but I don't understand cup measurements as I measure in grams do you know the conversions(I think that's what there called) or do you know any conversion charts

  • They're lookin good Betty

  • Lookin good Betty looking good

  • Hi everyone, just made an easy video guide to cooking Apple Pie, feel free to check it out =)

  • hello i like what you did simple and easy...

just want to know what is ALL SPICES?is there any other name for that?hehe not famillar for me.

  • @dimple20001 It is a mixture of spices. If you can't find it, just substitute cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.

    --Betty :)

  • Hi there (: Looks bomb.So would I have to fry or could I toast/bake it? Thanks Ma'am

  • @AndreaBoobui You may fry or bake them.

    --Betty :)

  • hi Betty :)

i usually cook big lattice apple pies (which is quite different to this one) with sliced apple and some fried apple sauce. it turns out pretty good with my homemade pastry but what do you think about putting cocoa powder into the apple sauce? i thought that would be nice to make a little difference but im still not sure about if it'll taste good. have you tried anything similar? or maybe some yogurt?

  • @sunnykrcdiaa I have never tried either. I think the yogurt would be a hit; I'm not sure about the cocoa powder.

    --Betty :)

  • I love how southern people fry everything. I'm from Texas , we aren't the healthiest people

  • @monalisa20 These are actually baked in the oven; we just use "fried" in the name, because people know what kind of dessert to expect.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen oh I didn't mean to put a thumbs down :-) I didn't get to watch all of it because my daughter woke up. But its true about southerners frying anything. Omg the vote ups and down are killing me.

  • Thanks Darling! Can't wait to try this!

  • Its ok betty, theyre probably better! lol

  • Hi Betty! I have a question for you! :) In the majority of your videos you taste the food you made at the end (just like you tasted the apple pies in this video). I was just wondering if you have ever tasted something you have made and have never been fully satisfied even if you say it tastes good? I am not trying to say you can't cook cause we all know you can (your recipes are amazing!) I was just curious to know if things don't always go to plan even if you say it does :)

  • @Chunksterrrable No, I am completely truthful (although there are some foods that I am not crazy about in the first place--when I taste them I account for that). I can think of two dishes I made that simply didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. They were both original recipes that were really experiments that failed. Those videos never got uploaded, though. I don't recommend anything that I honestly don't think is good.

    --Betty :)

  • ccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @KarnejjWF :)

    --Betty :)

  • if we want it fried,we just put it in the oil and fried it?

  • @ello221 Yes, heat the oil first, then drop it in, and it will brown quickly--and then it's done!

    --Betty :)

  • Those look good Betty.

  • @Allen2045 Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • It's like our Chinese dumplings! Only it's not meat & vege in it. its fruit! So interesting! :D

  • @ClaireGoGoGo Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • I can't find the video for the glaze recipe :( Can you post the recipe please?!?

  • @Koriems You'll find the glaze here:

    youtube.com/watch?v=Gx6J3ulV1Bk

    I hope you enjoy it!

    --Betty :)

  • I was looking for fried Apple Pies, and ran across this gem instead! I agree baked are healthier! Thanks for posting! :-)

  • @Yahsgirl66 You're welcome! I hope you enjoy them!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty's Fall Favorite BAKED Apple Pies.

  • @Yahsgirl66 They actually are baked; they are what my family considers to be fried apple pies--they just don'et have the extra fat from frying.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty can't wait to see you on 20/20. Looking forward to it.

A tsp of lemon juice or a dash of salt in your apple water will keep your apples from turning. Also Jumar1281 authentic Kentucky fried apple pies are made from dried apples. :-)

Thanks for all the videos Betty. My son is getting married very soon, so I turned him to your videos! We are from Mt. Sterling, KY..so not far away.

  • @Mustangher I hope your son enjoys these KY recipes--and thanks for planning to watch the 20/20 show!

    --Betty :)

  • I love your voice! It's so soothing!

  • @taylorswift091196 Thanks!

  • @trigger1966269 I have a video on carving the Jack O'Lantern. Search for carving pumpkin in bettyskitchen.

    --Betty :)

    --Betty :)

  • These apple pies are going to be the reason I get diabetes lol

  • @mario1136 I hope you don't get diabetes, but I do hope you enjoy the pies!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thanks :) I sure hope not either :P

  • this recipe is great if you want a version of this dish that healthier and a little lighter. but if you're looking for authentic kentucky fried apple pies, they really should be deep fried in lard. there is just no comparison in taste.... and as long as you don't eat them everyday, a little lard won't kill you

  • @jumar1281 Thanks for the information about the traditional KY fried apple pies. Some people will want to try that; I'm sure the difference in taste is significant!

    --Betty :)

  • heyy betty =] Insted of using Pre-made refrigerated pie crust for this recipe, can you make your own dough for this?

  • @gymnasticslover96 Yes, definitely. I have several recipes pie crusts, like "Betty's Best Pie Crust."

    --Betty :)

  • Dear Betty watching this recipe reminded me so much of my grandmother. We used to love this treat along with tea cakes. She also made great peach and apple preserves. Can you please make a video on how to make apple and peach preserves? Thank you

  • @nancydrew5 I haven't done any preserves yet in bettyskitchen; I will give some thought to doing peach or apple preserves.

    --Betty :)

  • Hi betty I just made these and they were gone in 5 minutes really tasty thanks so much for this wonderful recipe ;)

  • @snowbell1993 You're welcome! Thanks for the great feedback!

    --Betty :)

  • I never thought of making apple pies like this. thanks Betty.

  • @arlenelegum1 You're welcome! I hope you enjoy the recipe! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Hi! Can i use filo pastry?

  • @Rubyred2200 Yes, that should make good, flaky pies.

    --Betty :)

  • also, a little lemon juice in your water will stop the apples from browning :)

  • @akashakelly That is a great tip! Thanks for sharing!

    --Betty :)

  • betty you are so trim for a woman who makes such yummy food!

  • @akashakelly I eat a very strict diet!

    --Betty :)

  • yummy

  • @onirochrome Thanks for your comment--that's very interesting!

    --Betty :)

  • oh they look so delicious! I haven't seen your videos in a while, but they still make me want to eat them lol

My family might mistake these for empanadas!

do you happen to have an appe strudel recipe that you could share?

  • @enchanteDREAMer01 I do have a recipe for apple strudel, and I hope to post it later this spring.

    --Betty :)

  • @ynrd79 Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • How are you still so skinny after making all these desserts ??

  • @iheartfrappuccinos I only eat small portions of anything fatty/sugary. I do eat lots of fruits and vegetables--and tuna!

    --Betty :)

  • looks yummy even if i dont like apple pies xD

  • @ylimeart Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • I used two cans of pears for this recipe

  • @0184AC I bet that was delicious! Thanks for the tip!

    --Betty :)

  • I tried this recipe today and it was delicious! Thank you betty! you have also inspired me to cook :)

  • @shydog555 Thanks for your wonderful feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • How long would I bake these if I use an oven toaster?

  • @ultrachocoloco It would take a little longer. I would just keep an eye on them and test them occasionally until they are nice and browned.

    --Betty :)

  • can u actually fry these in some shortening instead of puttin them in the oven? When I was younger I remember my sitter fryin these on the stove. Can u do the same with this recipe?

  • @tracymbuford Yes, this recipe can be done by placing the prepared apple pies in hot oil and deep-frying until golden.

    --Betty :)

  • just add some lemon juice so the apples wont turn brown :)

  • Fucking gross you all should be drug in the street and shot with semi-automatic rifles

  • My husband loves fruit pies especially apple & cherry so I am gonna have to try making these cuz they would be a perfect addition to his lunch that he takes for work daily! Thanx for posting & sharing! =)

  • Hi. Can you also deep-fry these apple pies? Because im making them now =D

  • @RemixedRap Yes, you can!

    --Betty ;)

  • Hi betty!! I live in a city which didn't provide too much cooking materials,, but my sister and I always love to cook..

then we download some of your videos and your recipes are so easy to make and we can get the materials easily..

So i just wanna say thank you for sharing your recipes with us^^

  • betty i love you ! i tryd this recipe with my own twist. instead of dessert imade mini pastrami empinadas using you best piecrust recipe thank you so much they were a big hit im only 11 and you are my cooking idol thank you !!!!!!!

  • My friend showed me this channel, some nice looking food and I may have a go at making something.

  • Betty, I have a question i have an overwhelming amount of red apples could i use them for this recipe? or do you have something that you have previously made that i could use red apples for.

  • @dacrazyone88 Red apples are fine, as long as they are solid, and it's best if they are tart, also. I have a recipe for cinnamon apples that could use any type of apple.

    --Betty :)

  • Hi @bettyskitchen, I've made this a while ago for our dinner along with the Sugar Glaze and they were a big hit! My friend even brought some on his way home (take-out). My family doesn't like baked dishes and apples, but they complimented your recipe, and 'zero' left overs! and they wanted me to make it again. I tried your Best Homemade Pie Crust for this instead of the ready-made ones and they are so delicious. Thank you Betty!

  • @myshemay Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • With the 4 apples, about how much turnovers can u make if each are like 3.4 inches?

  • @kimey2012 About 4 dozen. It will take about 5 pie crusts worth of dough.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen thank you :)

  • Thanks Betty for the delicious recipe :)

  • Amazing! Did them tonight, although I adore apple-pie never tried that before and it turned out to be fantastic. I couldn't find All Spice here (UK) so I've used Cinnamon, any other spices that you would recommend? Thanks a lot! xxx

  • @1Arrogante1 Thanks for your wonderful feedback! Allspice is a spice that tastes like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. You did great using the cinnamon, but you can also use equal parts cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

    --Betty :)

  • no, i bet yours are way better than evan's orchard's ;)

  • I just made this and it was REALLY good, my whole family loved this... im only 14 by the way wich shows that any one can make this!!! Thanks Betty!!!!!

  • @loveneverfails42 Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • They look so tasty.

  • Your version is more healthier than fried....I have some frozen fruit in my freezer....excited to make this on my next day off :)

  • Great video Betty, thank you for sharing. I like the size you chose & the baking over frying. How many pie crusts would you have needed to use all the filling you made up? Do you think these would hold together ok if they were frozen after assembling them, rather then baking them? I do this with cookie dough & it is so handy to have things prepared ahead and frozen.

  • @meluv2cook Using the size of pie crust I had, it made 9, but there was enough apple mixture to make about 4 dozen. You certainly can make them up and freeze them. That should work out great for you!

    --Betty :)

  • What a wonderful fall idea. These are great to have for a tailgating or at home sports party, and the "leftovers" (yeah, right) are easily held and portable.

  • @Patsymd Hi Patsy! Tailgating is a good use for these--hadn't thought of that. Thanks for a great tip!

    --Betty :)

  • ur vids r really helpful for home economics for skool!!xx

  • can i use only cinnamon instead of allspice?? tnx betty =]

  • @hellomoto4000 Yes, that flavor will be fine for these fried pies!

    --Betty :)

  • you mentioned, that "allspice" is a blend of spices..I thought allspice is a synonym for pimenta?

  • @nilaya87 You are right. Allspice *tastes* like a blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, but it is a spice in its own right, and it is a member of the pimenta family.

    --Betty :)

  • They look delicious Betty. Great video!

  • have you ever had hardees apple turn overs? sooo good. love this betty. i am gonna make this soon for the holidays :)

  • @notnormalbuzz I haven't tried Hardee's--I will do that when I have an opportunity! Thanks for your sweet comment. Have a gorgeous day, Ben!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, I'm so happy I found you on youtube! You are a very smart and wonderful at cooking! I tried so hard to not so many videos yesterday because I had a midterm! But I am bk up and rolling watching all of them right now. Can't wait to head out to the grocery store to try your recipes :) also thank you for subscribing!

    Much love,

    Allison

  • Judging from the Crust, i would think your recipe is better =D

  • whenever i slice apples i let them soak in 7up or Sprite... it keeps them from going brown until i need to use them.

  • A little squeeze of lemon juice to the water and your apples will not turn brown on you while you peel and chop the rest ^_^

  • will you be making apple fritters...

  • Betty these look delicioso! Haha im obviously not good at spanish! Haha i love all of your videos, and apple pie is my favorite dessert! So i will hopefully make these soon! Thank you again Betty!:) have a nice day!:)

  • For me I find when I make apple sauce if I leave the apple slices in water with a little salt they're less likely to brown on me. I love your videos. Everything is always so delicious :)

  • Amazing Betty! Keep it up!

  • Love this recipe..I love fried peach pies the best and think another short cut to that would be using peach pie filling from a can or any fruit pie filling would be good I suppose and fast to make..I still want to try making your homemade pie crust recipe tho as I think alot of the store bought crusts are a little pricey, but I guess your paying more for the convenience rather than anything else. Thanks for the recipe..((Hugs)) from Angie in AR

  • @kokonutbaby1 Hi Angie! I love peach pies, too! Honestly, I would make this with fruit pie filling from a can, if I were making it just for my family, but when you cook for the world, there are so many people that will say, "You lost me when you opened that can..." I occasionally will do something like this pie filling from scratch, but I think cooking should be easy and fun, and that most people would prefer opening a can. But there are still those few...

    (Hugs)

    Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Not to forget all those people from countries that don't have canned pie fillings...;)

  • So yummy they look Betty! Do you have a blog where we can follow you? It would be nice to have the ingredients written.

  • @NurseGreeneyesRN The complete recipe is always given with the video. Just click the down arrow or "more info."

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen ....oh? ok! I see it! But i think you should have a blog. It's fun to have one!

  • YUMMY

  • 8:31 star wars pastry!

  • delicious.. im going to try these.. thanx betty :)

  • You always mak yummy looking stuff.. I'm making your Chicken Enchiladas with Salsa Verde tonight..

  • I be glad when they put you on tv.. the world is really missing a great talent and a awesome teacher.. thanks for this yummy recipe

  • Hi Betty, love your channel and recipes. They seem to be so homey and I love it. I was wondering, could you use cherries in this recipe? Looks delicious!!!!

  • @Elvis66 Cherries would be delicious! They would work great!

    --Betty :)

  • oh that is a great recipe. do you think it would turn out if I used pears instead? or would i need to use a bit less water? cause in my view pears seem to have a more juicy or watery texture. thanks betty.

  • @phoenix9ty Pears will be great. If there seems to be too much water, just drain it off before mashing them.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen thanks so much betty. keep up the good work.

  • Rick you bad man, lol. You should have told her she had something on her chin after she took a bite of the apple pie.....lmao. Great recipe guys, thx.

  • great video! love the helpful tips throughout, looks tasty! and a great job on the camera Rick!

  • With Thanksgiving coming up, this will be a great dessert after we are all stuffed with turkey!! I will definetely try this!!! Thanks Betty!!!

  • I love your honest opinion when you taste your food! ^^

  • looks good. i make mine with buff bastry!

  • Dear Betty, please could you tell me what is included in this allspice, because i have to mix it myself.about the pie crust, ist it something like puff paste? or short crust? struggeling with the translation here :-))

    greetings mina

  • @Frayamina I mis-spoke when I said allspice was a mixture of spices. It is a spice in its own right, but it has the flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves--hence the name allspice. Maybe you will be able to mix equal amounts of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves to get a good approximation of allspice. For the pie crust, yes, it is something like puff pastry. It is a crisp crust that you would use with any regular pie.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen wow that was fast..thank you,i will try my best :-)

  • can I add butter to the apple mixture?

  • @test804 You certainly could do that, but, in my opinion, it would not improve the taste or texture of the pies.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen interestingly enough I was thinking about buttering the cooking pan while watching this video... that might be a way to get a hint of butter instead of spray oil? or does butter work the same for greasing a pan? great video!

  • @JimboJitsu You will have more of a chance of the bottoms of the pies burning with butter than with cooking oil spray. You could have crust that is made with butter--of course, that is more trouble than using the pre-made kind.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen you are wonderful!

  • You are always making up the good stuff! :) Looks really good....

  • the apple pies look yummy Betty
