  • @midwayer209 yes

  • would this be the same for 4000

  • what happens if you have an remote wire for an amp> do you splice into it?

  • awesome.. thanks man

  • this might be a dumb question but. wat are the connectors called he used to connect the wire to the relay?

  • The beginning is so confusing...2 black wires to the deck's ground wire. 1 black wire gets connected, wtf happens to the other wire? Other than that, I kinda figured it out.

  • hey dude awesome vid,do u now if i can connect an external hard drive to it? via usb

  • now does this work for the mvh-8200bt if not how do i bypass that ? cheers

  • This might be a dumb question but what size wires are you using to connect the relay to the harness? Tnx in advance & Great Tutorial!

  • Excellent tutorial... worked to the tee for me.

  • will it work for Pioneer AVH-P5200DVD?

  • How do you connect the black(ground) and yellow(constant power regardless of ignition switch position) for the avic-u220 navigation system. Do you have to connect it to the relay?

  • To run an subwoofer amp remote wire, would you splice it to the remote wire that gets wired to the relay or if there another wire on the harness for an amp remote wire?

  • @floon34 parking brake wire needs a signal after the unit is powered on

  • Can it work with a 4 pin relay??

  • Works perfectly on my AVH-4250

  • What kind of relay? Can anyone say if it's 30A or 40A and I assume it's a SPST?

  • Just tried it again for my second time. Worked perfectly on my first shot... @recdizzle1 its a Bosch relay. I bought mine at radio shack.

  • What kind of relay is it again?

  • I have the bypass. I want to view pics off of my Sd card while my ipod is connected and im listening to music. The SD card reads when I;m in that menu setting. but when i hit the camera button while the music is playing it won't read it. Help please

  • cant wait to get mine! bypass on the avic-f700bt was such a pain!!! ground wire, relay, pin change wont work!!! hacking the Windows Embedded was fun though!

    cool video man!

  • if any 1 need more help holla at me

  • no thats to much work jus run p brake wire to the ground wire u can watch dvds whit out a switch i do a lot of people systems

  • Great video and background sountrack. What is the name of that musical selection playing in the background? It sounds like something from either a Film Noir, or a Porno Flick. LOL! Not that there's anything wrong with that.

  • nice work whenever i get around to getting a head unit i deff do this mod.

  • Should i use a 30 amp or 40 amp relay?

  • Thanks so much for this video!! I just got the Pioneer MVH-8200BT, and this quick & easy bypass works perfectly. Now I can have music videos streaming while driving, so I can enjoy the music and my passengers can enjoy the music w/ the videos! Thanks again!

  • @Mike01hawk ive installed enough radios in my time I don't do ghetto work my install is nice and clean I hid my switch so it wouldn't be seen

  • would that work for a jvc double din as well

  • will this work for the MVH-p8200??

  • I have this unit that's alot of work all I did was add a toggle switch

  • @solowriders 10 min of work, or have an ugly getto fabulous switch hanging out of your console?!?! Yeah, I'll go with 10 min of work a thank you.

  • will this aslo work on te 3200dvd

  • thankss mann!!!

  • I got question: My audio is not coming on, I noticed on my step dads dvd player he has a blue wire that says antenna wire hooked up to something, i notice his audio comes off if you take it off, now i dont have an antenna wire i have a regular antenna that hooks in to the stereo its self, so what do i do to make the audio come on

  • @johannajimmy702 sorry buddy, but that won't work. the parking brake wire needs to see ground a split second after the unit turns on. better luck next time.

  • @soundmancaraudio i guess its only on some dvd players cause i did it on this one dvd player but now i tried it on this other one and it wont work so i guess i need a relay

  • @soundmancaraudio

actually you can just use a toggle switch. wire the parking break ground to the toggle switch then ground the other side of the toggel switch, when you put a move in turn the switch on and it bypasses it. just keep the switch somewhere you can get to it. i just did it with mine last night.

  • @manny1337 a relay is a switch. and you don't even have to flip it. :)

  • @manny1337 why constantly use a damn switch? Relays are fucking genius.

  • @johannajimmy702 jus run parkin barke wire to the head unit ground wire it will work no more switch u can watch dvds all day long when u trun the car off in on the movie will stll play where it left off

  • Comment removed

  • I assume this would also work with the 3200DVD? Considering they're all the AVH line.

  • Will this same process work with Kenwood KVT systems??

the harness seems exactly the same..

    cheers..

  • from glass city sounds thanks you guys have a good team

  • Does the blue wire still need to be connected to the factory wiring harness or just from the HU to the relay?? The black (GROUND) has to be connected to the stock wiring harness too right....like the black wire comes from the HU to the bypass then to the factory wiring harness

  • Does the blue wire still need to be connected to the factory wiring harness or just from the HU to the relay?? The black (GROUND) has to be connected to the stock wiring harness too right....like the black wire comes from the HU to the bypass then to the factory wiring harness

  • I have the 3100, if i have a remote going back to the amp do i still need to run it to the relay? I'm assuming the 3100 will work with the set up.

  • i've got the 3100. If i have a remote cable running from the head back to my amp do I still need to run the remote to the relay?

  • im putting in my avh-p5200 dvd today and i wanted to know does this have to be done in order to view videos/movies from my ipod or sd card? if not, I wont need to do it

  • Awesome.....Finally someone who knows what they are doing and is willing to help others.

I really appreciate the post. Thank you.

  • can you add the 8000 to any 2010 models?

  • One question ..What's the purpose of this bypass?...

  • I loaded a bunch of divx videos onto a dvd. It plays fine but is there a way to set it to "shuffle" or "random" mode? It only plays in the order it was burned onto cd/dvd. In the system menu I see "random" but it is greyed-out. thx!

  • Just hooked this up and it worked immediately! It will literally take you longer to get your deck out of your dash then it will to hook this up. Thank you for this video, it was quick, precise, and most of all it was correct!

  • LMFAO "Disclaimer: It's not our fault if you get busted for watching Jackie Chan movies while your driving."

  • Would this work for the pioneer avh-5200bt as well

  • If i need to run a 4 channel and a Class d Amp into this deck also can i run about a foot of remote wire off of each amp and splice them into one wire that i run to the back of my HU and connect it into the female connector that connects to the relay?

  • Do you guys have any video on bypassing the AVIC-X910bt or is it done the same as this video?

  • Also - 30amp or 40amp relay?

  • nevermind, i guess a splice would work too.lol

  • so could i just run another remote wire from where i connected it to the relay(so i would have to wires in that one connector, one going in to the relay and another coming out going to the amp?)

  • How do you hook up the remote wire to an amp for subs if you have to hook up the remote wire to the relay?

  • So does one of the 2 grounds coming out of 87 go to the head unit and the other goes to the car? I am doing this tomorrow with my 4200

  • i made a more detailed video for the 4200

  • I did it, works awesome! also just hooked up my amp and subs. got a movie theater in my car now!

  • im an installer and why would you use a relay to send the parking brake a ground? not saying what you did is wrong just curious as to why a constant ground wouldnt work...be cause what if you wanted your remote to kick on an amp or something you would have to tap into the remote and run a seperate relay to turn on the amp...

  • because the unit needs to see ground AFTER it see's turn on. so the remote has the perfect delay and grounds the parking brake wire right after it turns on.. AND you can still tap a wire into the blue to turn on your amps.

  • ohhh ok i see i know you that the parking break has to be grounded in order to bypass it but i never knew why i just do it lol so you could use a relay to bypass call parking breaks and you wouldnt need a toggle? and will the remote still have enough power to kick the magnet on the relay and turn the amp on?

  • yes

  • daaaamn i never thought to use a relay to bypass that instead of a ghetto switch im a geek squad installer for best buy so i wouldnt be able to do that there were not allowed lol thanks man for the info

  • @SKEEZIN08 How exactly would you "tap into the remote and run a seperate relay to turn on the amp?'' I did this bypass and want to install an amp for my subs but not too sure how

  • @04rlatham i think you tap in to the remote wire and run that down to your amp

  • @04rlatham The one thing i can think of to "tap" into the remote wire to turn on the amp is by cutting the remote wire in between the relay and HU and run that wire to your amp..that way it sends a signal to your amp to turn on firsti before it reaches the relay..im not 100 % sure im just thinkin out loud.

  • how do u bypass the new 4200

  • @matty0030

Used the 5 pin relay and did exactly what is shown in this video, works great, just have to hit the OK button on the screen when you switch over to DVD mode or put in a DVD and it runs perfect.

  • when grounding he black wire to the car do i ground it to any piece o metal.

  • no grounding to the car in my case. Two grounds attached to the two top prongs just like the video, remote on the left and e-brake on the vertical prong of the relay. Nothing on the middle, works great!

  • buy a 4 pin relay....no need for a 5.

    good video, thanks =]

  • Any chance this works with the 4200? Thanks

  • @erikd187

This works for the 4200 as well...

  • Comment removed

  • Calkidd said it right. This pioneer unit and older ones CAN NOT and DO NOT work this way. The ground has to be triggered after the disc is put in. If its triggered by a relay like in this video it will only work 1 time and that's it.

  • What does bypassing do?

  • @phenom860 I believe it allows you to watch a video (dvd) while not in park but I think this only evolves with Manual cars. Does anyone want to give a better input on this?

  • How would this affect the rear back up camera? If you by passed it, wouldnt the back up camera always be showing?

  • The E-brake wire has to be grounded while or after the DVD has begun playing. So having a relay wired in is not going to work since the relay is activated once the HU is turned on. So the only option I can think of is a switch installed grounding the E-brake wire once you start playing a movie.

  • yes i would also like to know what i will do for a remote wire for my amp if u have to use it on this relay .. would i split it.. let me know

  • did u get an answer? do you have a rsx?

  • Can You still connect a amp doing this method?

  • did u get an answer?

  • I got it to work good shit soundman!

  • Awsome video, super helpful, and works Ike a charm. Had a quick question though. I have the Avh-p3100dvd, and I wanted to get a flash drive to store music/movies. But I have been hearing that the video won't play on the unit. Is this just a formatting problem, or will it not work at all?

  • i have a GM vehicle with OnStar, so i hooked up to harness to the gmos 01 module... now that takes the ground wire from the radio to the module and grounds it to the vehicle ground.. how should i work around that to make it work?

  • ok i was thinking the same thing u have to ground the radio ,,. and also who would you connect an amp can u split the remote wire also what kind of relay u used "by name please" and can u post a video of this working by any chance

  • Thanks for the video. Installed on a P5100 easily and with no issues. To WilliamCravens, two posts down, I used a four prong relay as well. I'm sure it will work for you too as long as your pin numbers match his. The pin number's should be: 85, 86, 87 and 30.

  • Hope your enjoying riding your car without insurance

  • Hey i went to auto zone and purchased a 4 pin 30 amp 12 volt relay, will that do the trick?

  • i just saw below that u said a 40 amp relay, i've hooked everything up but i cant get the avh to power on. i'm thinking it has something to do with the relay? Any help would be awesome because this is my first time installing a stereo. Thanks!

  • This might sound like a silly question but did you actually hook the "extra" ground wire up? The first 2 that are tied together? I mean you have to ground the radio to something.

  • @SeigiSama im guessin the extra ground is for the cars harness? if so should u have a extra remote for the amp?

  • I figured that much I was replying to WilliamCravens not being able to power his unit on.

  • @SeigiSama

Yes i wired it to the harness, the problem was actually mu acc wire, it doesnt work for some reason in my car harness. I ended up wiring the acc directly to the battery and installed a switch and a fuse. The video played perfectly at first but i havent been in my car in about a week and now video won't play?

  • Check the pins in the wire harness if you Accessory wire (blue) isn't working. The acc wire just sends a low voltage signal to other components in the system, mainly amps and CD changers. You could also try one of those cheapo test lights. Just wire the one end to your acc wire and the other end to a ground when you turn the stereo on then the light should turn on. If it does then it might be a problem with the relay you're using.

  • @SeigiSama

I reset the unit by hitting that little black pin hole button and it seemed to do the trick, what's the deal with that? that means my relay is still working, i was a little shocked when that happened...now im totally clueless whats wrong lol

  • Alright awsome thanks man!! Also, any idea where I will find the Bosch relay? And what size wires do I need to use? Is it an 8 guage

  • @bigglez33 I got my relay at Checker/Shucks/Kragen/etc. It wasn't a Bosch brand but it was identical otherwise. Just ask for a 12V 5 pin automotive relay and check the pin numbering as stated in the video to make sure they give you the right one. I used the same gauge wire as in the car harness, I forget what it was. It was thicker than the Pioneer harness wire.

  • Will this work for the AVH-P3100 as we?

  • @bigglez33 yes it will

  • THX Soundman worked like a charm!!!

  • would this work for the avh-p3100?

  • yes sir

  • thank you and great info.

  • What do you do with the middle pin? Or is that just left alone completely?

  • @DeadCat4Ever You leave the middle pin alone. You should cover it with tape if you don't use insulated connectors on the other pins, just in case.

  • again, does the one cable need to be grounded to the chassis of the car? or only to the relay

  • I noticed there are 2 black wires connected to the ground. One goes to the other pin. What do i do with the longer one? Am I supposed to ground it?

  • P85 & P87 go to GND.

    Remote goes to P86.

    Parking goes to P30.

  • Worked Perfect!!!! Thanks for the easy instructions.

  • what size wire did you use 8 guage?

  • Do you have to run a wire from the remote wire to the relay and from the relay to the inside of the truck? I was wondering how to do this if you have a bose system? Can you show me how to do that?

  • Do you have to run another blue wire from the relay to the plug that goes to the automobile?

  • Do you have to run another blue wire from the relay to the automobile?

  • Does this bypass work for the Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD as well?

  • Does this work for AVH-3100DVD

  • yes it does

  • how would you hook subs up to that?

  • you would just tap another wire to the blue remote wire and hook it up to the amp and plug the subwoofer output from the deck into the amp also.

  • thanks worked perfect!!

  • Where do you find that Bosch Relay Switch? Any particular one/model?

  • worked perfect for me last night

  • this use to work for me perfectly, but not anymore, i can only get audio from the dvd now, the video is not displaying, i can only see the my background. any way to fix this?

  • you can change youre background picture for wichever source you're on. so put a dvd in and go into the menu to change the background picture and make sure it's set to video. because when you change the background pic for the dvd source it overlays the picture over the video..

  • worked great and perfectly... so much easier than a stupid rocker switch...

  • does this work for pioneer avh p5100?

  • yes

  • Just did this on the weekend for avh 4100. It worked for me.

    Pin 85 ground

    Pin 87 ground

    Pin 86 Head Unit Remote

Pin 30 Head Unit green break wire

  • If these wires are going to used on the relay how are they going to be used on the stereo wire harness????

  • i did the bypass thing, thanks, but it only work for one day. i'm just not getting vid any more. is it a setting ?

  • great background music

  • @a8ntiaqt1 the porno was in the next room

  • Correct me if I'm wrong as this is what I'm going to do tomorrow.

    1. You still need to ground the head unit so make sure that ground wire off the relay is splice into the 'grounded' ground wire from the head unit.

    2. To install a switch that will let you use relay or the actual parking break. Get a on-off-on switch. Wire it so both ons are connected the the parkign break sensor on the head unit. And the other two wires go to their respective devices (1 to pb brake and 2 to relay )

  • of coarse you'll still need to ground the head unit..

with this bypass you won't need a switch at all. and you won't have to tap into your vehicles parking brake wire.

  • Thank You! Kind of confusing with the extra black wire, but i figured out it goes to the stereo connector ground! Its my first time using this method!

  • Hello.

Sorry to aks maybe a dumb question but in the video you connect the black (ground) wire to pins 85 and 87, but you never mention if I need to connect that wire to ground also. Like 85 to 87 and then to ground.

    Thank you for the help.

  • do you know if this player will fit into a ford super duty?

  • is there a specific relay to use when i go to buy one? and which pin do you put the power wire on to?

  • Ok guys, I did this rig and DVD playback worked but it still didn't let me modify the display settings. Then while fiddling around my relay connectors came loose. I decided to see what would happen if I touched the parking brake wire to any metallic part of the chassis and VOILA! it works. Even display settings! The man at radio shack told me to do that from the get go but i didn't listen. Just tape it to any metallic parts of ur car!

  • tape the green parking brake wire to any metal from the car and you watch video while driving and you can get into initial settings? So there is no use for the relays? LET ME KNOW! I can't get in INITIAL SETTINGS

  • this method doesn't work. the green wire needs to lose ground when the unit boots. the blue wire triggers the relay after the unit boots. and allows a "real bypass". to get to the inital settings just hold down source until the unit turns off then touch the screen.

  • ok i was thinking the same thing u have to ground the radio ,,. and connect an amp can u split the remote wire also i got a 40 amp relay but it only has 4 pins on it theres no middle pin .. also what if i get pulled over is there away to shut this off from the cops getting to it as easy as i did ?and can u post a video of this working by any chance

  • the bypass works but i am unable to get in initial menu, I called pioneer and they said something about giving the parking wire constant 12v. Anyone know the solution for this?

  • will this work with my 350z even with the bose system

  • When wanting to connect the blue remote wire to an external amplifier, do you add another wire from the relay where it is now connected and run it to the amplifier?

  • only works for dvd function not for aux where i have my dvb box!!

  • where did you connect the two black wires that are hanging out of the relay at the end of the video???

  • what did you do with the other two black wires??? did you ground them?

  • what do you do with the other two black wires hanging out of the relay????did you ground them or what?

  • cool this is better than using the switch!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW hold on a sec. I've just ordered AVH-4000. You say I can't watch DVD while the car in motion? Will I have to do all this wiring too to "unlock" it???????!!!!!!!!!! (((

  • works really well! i done it slightly differently but with the same results! thanks soundman!!

  • You could use a relay like this, or if you don't want to use the amp remote turn on wire, use a switch as well. Either way works really. Ground on one end, parking brake on the other. Leave it off when not in use, turn it on when in use.

  • Dude this worked perfectly on a few Pioneer dvd units now. Thanks a bunch

  • IT WORKED!!!
