  • This will lead to people demanding RFID chips and imaging contact lenses, even paying money for the privilege of having them. The future is now. All is one.

  • @nickyjlyons Think of the future of wars, more like it. An army of 200.000 with 100 real soldiers. Army always abused science throughout history.

  • Aaawww, look at him and hisEuropean accent. By the way, I really love Augmented reality! I really hope this technology may advance a lot so we can use AR on a daily basis.

  • this game would be ledge for like fable r2 or something because of the view!!!

  • Possibilities are AWESOME...

You can date any old bag now, and just augment her with a supermodel ! LOL

  • 3D is clearly not their strong suit, nor is acting. lol

But the tech is very impressive. Noticed this was posted in 2007. If you think about, the tech is already here.

i think the PS3 is using it in their Virtual Pet game and the Xbox360 is using if as part of their Natal Camera but in a more advance way.

  • Wow! That is all there is to say to this!

  • lol that technique would be awesome, if it wouldn´t have the needs of some lame pads for recognizing, it is not as hard to scan such pads with normal software, so make a good concept allready...

  • Evil magicks! Burn the man-witch!

  • we ave deflopt!

  • holy cow this is future think about it you have some goggles that are the computer and you just hold out cards that show your email or your browser

certain symbol could be used for advertising seriously cool.

  • Imagine this with cinema 2.0 graphics chip inserted to glasses of course

  • microsoft is soooooooooooooooo dead

  • i think microsoft would just buy it, it won't have to compete

  • i want that shirt

  • I would like to play GTA like that :P

  • O.O HOLLY SHIAT

  • holy shit lol

  • Great presentation!

  • it was totally amazing.. congrats

  • cool stuff,

though it won't make mankind happy ...

everything is getting more and more autistic ...

but hey people can make money!

  • he sounds like arnold schwarchngeer <spelling?

  • You douche. This guy is french, Arnold is Ukrainian.

    They sound nothing alike.

  • You douche, Arnold is Austrian.

  • once you can buy video glasses in stead of hold a phone/games device up this will be world changing. people could have AR clothing (real clothing under it lol) AR pets also you could film movies in AR wear the video specs and be stud in the film

  • It's like a little grand theft auto you can carry around.

  • That city modle was sharp! Go D fusion! Woo hoo!

  • His name is Bruno, lol

  • in the middle ages you would have been burned like a witch

  • WOW video games are about to get so awesome

  • yea i wish i was (will be?) born 10 years in the future...

  • Combine with wearable computers and WiMax and even the grocery store becomes awesome. :-)

  • lol tough crowd

  • Fake, and he should learn english speaking, I'm French, and have a greater accent, and it's not funny anyway...

  • fake what ? Augmented Reality exist from ten years LOL

  • Oh my god I want an head implant now!

Head Implant + Virtual Reality + Internet access = Ghost in the Shell ftw

  • Imagine getting a virus in your head.

  • Umm how about the common cold?

    Techno irony...

  • J.K.Rowling invented moving pictures in newspapers way before you guys so don't try and pass this off as your own.

  • And it was done by games and other movies years before Rowling so that dosent work either

  • J.K.R. isn't exactly an origional concept, check out 'Enders Game' and just about any forward looking SF will also have a version of the moving picture. Hang on sound a bit like television to me. All JKR has done is change the back ground technology to achieve it to Magic.

  • lol

  • Yes! The popup screens from Nandesico and Reboot are almost here!

  • How come every single video about augmented reality is like from 2006-2007...? I kinda want to see if they've made any progress since then.

  • Amen to that I feel the same way

  • There is a recent video of AR on a new 3g phone and the Sony PSP

  • where can you download this?

  • my teacher in science has a paper version. it has the globe pop up.

  • Thay guy gets realy pissed off with that cookoo bird coming out of his chest all the time

  • that gotta hurt

  • Reminds me of alien.

  • nooo in real time i don't beleve...

  • you can spin it around n real time, but the animations, I dunno about that

  • it is definitely in real time.

  • Yeah I saw somthing similar were the wii sensor was reversed or somthing and created a 3D effect.

  • you could have so much fun with that! imagine your a teacher with the hook up on an unsuspecting class lol jus like have apples fall ever where then claim the class is crazy :D

  • in another 20 years it will be, in college/university at least, dont think it will be in highschools

  • I'm in school for 3-D simulation programming , and I think that once this is combined with virtual simulation in a cohesive environment....well...hell...we may as just call it what it is..."Holodeck"

  • yeah, but in the holodeck you can touch stuff, not just see it

  • yeah but you gotta start somewhere...

  • I like the bird thing coming out of his t-shirt....cute yet genius.

  • HOW DOES THAT 3D STUFF WORK???

  • Just like game engine, and it is using webcam and motion tracking..

    Something like eyetoy on PS3..

  • this is real?

  • Yes,that is webcam motion tracking.

  • imagine the size of the AV cables to this thing. oh, and incase they watch this again, hello dutch class ^_^ hello Genina

  • wow! can you imagine a rts game created with this software!

  • kinda puts the old power point presentation to shame!

  • kinda?? LOL

  • It didn't sound like he was even talking to an audience! Great technology though, think of the future of gaming!

  • Well this video is from the second take (see the info text above right), so the enthusiasm was less than on the first take.

  • when does this come out. and how much is it

  • shold have rehearsed some, and also watched recoding of the rehearsals, the acting when the character came out of the shirt was way off, the reactionw as if it was jsut a voice and not somthing emerging from the chest

also, the lines didn't seemed very natural, dunno

but the techinology itself surelly is amazing :)

  • Well, no professional actor was harmed during the shooting of this video. I meant, was hired.

  • nice man well done

  • i don't get you.. you just add animated forms on real objects where is the feat? do you know "attention a la marche" ? zizi potes are some kind of virtual reality :)

  • When you see these videos, you don't realize the feat that everything is done live. This is not post-production, as in the TV show you talk about. Furthermore, in the TV show, the camera stands still when the avatars appear, to make it easier. Here, the camera moves freely.

  • I jsut had a presentation from this company yesterday at the company I work at.

  • you can only see it on a monitor or a tv. its not actually happening in real life. but it is happening in real time. understand

  • wow this warped my mind..how is this possible???

  • how can it be done in public..???

  • Keynotes, corporate shows, etc., use lots of big screens anyway, so we simply use some of these to show the Augmented Reality to the audience.

  • Nice.. I wish we had a Scenario like this on my school and do this...

  • Hey great work!! I've also seen the 2004 demo by Total Immersion. Pretty cool too! I understand that there are 3D objects within the camera view for calculating where virtual objects should appear in this demo, but what I don't understand is that how you guys fly the helicopter above the audiences in the 2004 demo???

  • omg! i cant wait till they start making games were we are in the game running around! gamers will have no reason to b overweight! i cant wait

  • Yeah, me too :P!

  • It would be very amazing.

Just think what you could do in the generes, like holding a gun and walking around and shooting people, running up to a player and sticking them with a grenade, or even swinging a weapon around and a compatible feature for shields and voice or button activated spellcasting feature

Just imagine... where there's a will, there's a way. And this guy in the video has DEFINATLY got a way :)

  • almost a hologram

  • rip the blue annoying guy out of ur chest damned! haha nice technique!

  • ha! at 4:50 its like he's going to go "WHAT DO YOU FUCKING WANT THIS TIME!"

  • Dudes!!! they have a computer linked to the cameras who sees markes on the board and the table and by seeing where the marks are ,and which way they are facing it is able to calculate where the 3d models should appear. the audience have to look at a screen to see the 3d models because the computer are rendering them into the video real time.

  • the dude speaking and interacting with the animations doesnt actually sees them him self, only other ppl looking at monitors see it, the dude sees them IF he is looking at the monitor...

  • I didnt know that this even existed!

  • Woah... Duuude... Exactly how did they do that.

  • it is cool they should make a GTA thing stuff something with it:P good upload! 5 stars

  • They are watching this on a screen he is standing there but it shows the 3d things ON THE SCREEN ONLY not in real life.. hes showing how you can take a video stream of a live piece of paper put a person standing on the paper, if you move the paper in any way, such as spin, pull or push the person will still be on the paper, it will react to the ways you move it. Something that is closest to this would be the ps2 eyecam exept 3d.

  • Immersion you suck a$% cause you sued SONY FOR ITS CONTROLLERS CAUSE ITS MAKING MORE MONEY AND WHAT PROOF DID THEY HAVE FOR COPYING THIER INFRINGMENT ON PS2 RUMBLE REMOTE ?

  • I agree that the name is misleading, but we have nothing to do with the company "Immersion" you refer to !

  • calm down preppy lmao

  • HE'S A WITCH!!!BURN HIM!!

  • Well, you see Shortie, its quite obviously magic.

  • wait!!!!wtf!!!how do they make 3d objects just pop outta nowhere!!!!!!

  • I looked.

  • So that's how they flew fake planes into the W T C.

    Interesting!

  • I decided to finally approve this kind of comment because I received dozens of comments like that. So I let one pass so that others know this kind of reaction is common...

  • what is this world comming to?? false realities??? It scares me how this could be used in evil ways.

  • If you don't understand it, it surely will scare you.

  • Precisely, to remain in ignorance is to always be in fear.

  • Dude. I'm picturing a huge 3d army-men miniatures battle where they use your entire house as a battlefield. You could have a headset with goggles to view the augmented world...etc. Delicious.

  • I would trade in my damn wii for that. I would hold battles in my room. OMG. I'm just imagining how long you could be entertained with that.

  • Is that stuff really coming out of the screen? or is it just edited video?

  • It's coming live on the screens the audience is watching near the stage.

  • Can you please explain how it works because it seems impossible... How did the car crash into the truck that was placed there.

  • I don't know if you're kidding or not, but I will explain anyway. I'm sort of a programmer myself. Basically, when the truck was placed down on the scene, the color values for those pixels change to "fire truck color" or whatever you want to call it. I'm guessing the computer that the Total Immersion system runs off of sensed a general pattern in the color values of those pixels, telling it it was a small fire truck (how it was so accurate with finding exactly where the truck was, I don't know).

  • For the sake of truth, I must tell that in this video, the collision with the truck is a scripted event, he would not have been able to put it elsewhere. There was already so much happening in the demo, so...

You can check the tractor videos for something close to the accurate 3D object tracking you refer to.

  • The system also probably accounts for the unsteady hand of the camera man by mimicking the shakiness of the camera (an average of the movements of all of the real time objects in the scene). There are multiple other features to make this run flawlessly, but those are the basic concepts.

  • Camera tracking in realtime....bye bye boujou! :(

  • ALL FAKE

  • Well, that's the point :-)

  • Brilliant! =D

  • i don't get what this is? it looks like it was just edited into the video, can he see the shit coming out of his shirt or is it for media purposes? i don't see this becoming anything too awesome, even tho i am all for V-R.

  • it's the fucking camera you idiots. the board is a prop that directs the graphics to make it look like that is what you see. thats why there is a huge screen which everyone is LOOKING AT TO SEE THE GRAPHICS!

  • Why the anger?? It was only a question. What do u do if a kid ask you a question, smack him in the head??

We're not all genius like you

  • I sooo want that. I'll make people dance on my Gamecube!

  • all I want is my holo deck to play games online yeah imagain counterstrike in a halo deck...

  • wow.

  • The possibilities for this thing is incredible!

  • Looking increasingly cool. Am I right in assuming it'll be a long time until this technology goes public?

  • thats awesome but if they do use it in video games, its gonna be so expensive but its still really cool

  • Totalement démentielle ^^ !!!

  • do you see this kind of technology being used with the ps3? oh wait "eye of judgement" is one, right?

  • From what I understand of the PS3 Eye of Judgment, they rely heavily on the barcodes one can see on the cards. So they're closer to the ARToolkit demos you see here and there, I would say.

  • Great! Here we go..

  • I see the same technology on Japanese news casts and tv programs all the time. They dont seem to interact with it, but the camera can move freely in real time with the 3d graphics staying in set positions on the screen. I thought was really cool looking when I first saw it.

  • What you write about is done with cameras with encoders, that can tell where they are in the studio. That's a very good solution to make virtual background for instance. Our technology is different, as it tells where is an object that can move freely in front of the camera. You can have then much more interaction.

Tou can check one of my other video, the TV Asahi one, to see this technology used in a Japanese TV show...

  • yeah, I meant similar, not same. I understand how its interactive in your case. The same "looking" graphics are in use in Japanese television now is what I meant. Dont get me wrong, I think its awesome!

  • No offense taken ! And, don't worry, the Japanese TV think it's awesome too, but they want even more !

  • was there even an audience? hope this isnt some kind of vaporware

  • There was an audience, yes, but since it was the second time in a row the demo was done in front of them, there was less wows, hence this strange feeling they are alone on stage...

  • i don't totally get what i'm watching, is this all cgi stuff, or is like, you look through a screen and it puts the 3d stuff in the environment ur looking at through the screen.

  • it is on a screen. The program adds the 3d stuff onto the screen from objects that are there in real life

  • cool and te gang!

  • Great ending!
