  • OMG...it looks like you are gonna fall off!!...What is the trip like??...is it a good experience?? Would you suggest it to anyone?

  • that trip is a real gas - I'd definitely recommend it - if you can afford it, take the overnight trip to Phantom Ranch. The drop-offs and scenery are difficult to explain - the videos do it justice - it took me about 4 hours of riding to get the courage to film while riding - going up is much easier than the ride down. I want to do it again. We had a wrangler named Casey Murph who was fantastic - I believe he's running the show now and is the head wrangler. You won't be sorry - go for it!!!

  • I would really like to take the overnight trip or even the day trip but I might have some problems doing it, I am 12 and my parents are like un-able to go cause they are like deadly allergic to mules and stuff :'( Just Wondering, do you have any riding experience with horses or anything? I have been taking bareback riding lessons 3 years lol..might help with confidence especially riding the crazy boy that I ride...Casey Murph..is that a mule or a person?..sorry blond moment..or stupidity?

  • Casey is a guy who was our trail guide/wrangle. You're probably old enough - they have restrictions and I'm not 100% sure what they are but they should be posted on the website where they offer info on the mule rides. Maybe you can get an uncle or grandparent to take you. As I recall, we had a young girl who was about your age in the other group we were with. Good luck

  • I see..but to do it without adult supervision and such? Yea, maybe, my grandpa used to ride, I dunno if he would go all the way over there to do it tho..oh well....thx so much!

  • What time of year did you go and how far in advance did you reserve your mule ride?

  • this trip was Labor Day weekend - we got lucky with the reservations - we decided to do it in July, I called Xanterra to see what might be available, and the person I talked to just had somebody just cancel their trip and we were fortunate to get 2 availabe seats - from what I've heard, the overnight trip to Phantom Ranch is normally booked out about a year in advance - it was a fantastic experience and I want to do it again
