  • Thanks so much for sharing your gift with us. Gospel music is the best and I've learned a lot from you. You are my mentor

  • @lydiaboggus1008 I am glad our videos are helpful.

  • thank you so much for this! I've been playing bass off and on for a while now, but I never actually knew the structure of this progression until you broke it down here. I'll put this newfound knowlegde to good use

  • i learn something new everyday. today you taught me. thank you kind sir. check my only uploaded video it is me covering a pretty complex song on bass (I dnt have access to my own camera)

  • This is awesome dude. I consider myself a pretty accomplished and talented bass player but it's always still great to get back to the basics for a bit. Your videos are awesome! great job

  • Wow!!!! you are really good at conveying the information for us non musical folks to understand...Thank you for the awesome info

  • Wow!!!! you are really good at conveying the information for us non musical folks to understand...Thanx man

  • it actually sounds like a 4 3 6... 5 1 (4) progression... like the biggie smalls beat...

  • i have question..do you realy have to learn guitar first before switchin bass? im starting to study bass but i dnt play guitar and i dnt know how..i find it hard so i study bass think it's easy..another do you know any famous bass players that who didnt either play guitar? im just wonderin if it is possible?

  • No, you do not have to learn the Guitar First. Not positive, but I believe Victor Wootens, first instrument was the bass, also I have never read that any of my favorite bass players started off with the guitar.

  • Actually i believe Victor wootens first instrument was a banjo but i could be wrong

  • I play bass and i am just starting to take a GCSE course in it, my music teacher would have made me do expresive arts if he didnt think i was capable (as he did with other instrument players). I'm completely self/youtube taught and i have never learnt guitar so what i guess im saying is yes, it definately is possible. As for famous bass players, i believe flea didnt learn guitar, he plays just the bass and i think he can play the trumpet.

  • No doubt learning to play guitar first will help you play bass better, but so would learning the tuba or the piano.

  • thanks dude! the bassline in "Just the Two of Us" sounds like a 2-5-1 as you described it?

  • You are correct.

  • well that sounds awesome...ill check it out as well...cant wait to take it to the next level...!!!

  • ok bro thanks 4 the reply....will surely check into the site...keep it goin....

  • No doubt, and keep watching a good friend of mines Sean Byrd who is on a few of the videos, has agreed to help with the teaching, he is a seasoned pro. So we anticipate the lessons being able to move viewers from beginner to intermediate. Stay Tuned!

  • I'm looking to try to play a bass due to a little influence from someone at work and just because I love music. I'm choosing the bass because that's what I sang in choir and thought it would be easier for me to pick up.

My friend told me to check YouTube out for free lessons which brought me to you. Southern Gospel is my favorite so when I saw your titles I watched and seen how sample you made sound. I now watch everything you have and you're on my favorites. Thanks for info on your site.

  • wow thanks for the comments, they made my day!
