That stang just pulls. I like how the vid title says "4.6 2v VS BUILT LS1"
To be all honest, to have a 4.6 2v putting out 755 RWHP that motor has to be built with those turbos. That LS1 isn't BUILT. Stock bottom end isn't built.
that was a dumbass video....the Fbody sounded good and was prolly a solid 12sec maybe high 11sec TRUE daily driver N/A also. If that same car threw a twin turbo setup on like it sat in the video then its not a D/D anymore in most peoples book, yea u can drive it daily but 100mi per day for work like most people these days do like I do, rain, snow etc....ive seen LS1 F bodys have stroked engines,240dur .610 lift cams with good heads run 10.80's and get 20mpg still (6spd) but its not a street car!
@Mustang2160 funny i ate a blown 2v when when he couldnt even break past mid 12's... oh and i was just a bolton ls1. a fully built ls1 will be running 10's the car in the vid was not built....
@onebadg8 i didnt say anything about that. i just said what happened to me. no shit an ls1 with a ton of bolt ons could take a gt. its not even a fair race! thats why Ford has Cobras to match with the ls1's kid
"It does have twin turbos" There ya go. That will beat a "Built" N/A LS1 anyday... TT the LS1 and that mustang will be way behind.... LS1> 4.6. I have respect for both engines but the LS1 gets my vote anyday. Its a work of art, LT1's started that phase. Even LT1's can make some NASTY N/A numbers as well!
I guess it depends on what folks call a race car. To me, a 23mpg cruiser with air, overdrive, pump gas, great stereo, radials, no cage, full weight, etc all make something a true street car.
Race car to me is like my Nova, race fuel, cage, deep rear end gears, no overdrive, loud as hell, etc.
No big deal, opinions always vary.
I do know the stang in the video was the mildest 10 sec car I've ever owned. 9's were with the boost up, the video is on low boost and around a 10.40 tune up.
LMAO are you kidding me? Its just a cruiser alls ive done to it is twin turbos hahahhahahha oh yea its only makin 755 at the wheels. oh god that cracks me up
2v arent slow they just have to be worked a little bit. By the way a stock ss still only put down 280 rwhp. Stock these cars both put down little hp. I havent loss to a ws6 or a z28
The stang in the video is NOT a race car. It's a full weight, 23mpg cruiser. It does have twin turbos, but was tuned real safe, making 755rwhp/760q through an auto. It's would not hook to save its' life due to how hard the turbos hit. It was just a fun car.
I've built much, much faster cars, but not that got 23mpg and sounded stock. It did run 9's by the way.
i havnt raced alot of mustangs. i have raced about 4 2v bolton gt's. i have smoked 3 of them. and 2 of them had more mods than me. and a couple 3v gt;s. then only stang i have lost to was a 2003 2v gt that had slp LM, bbk LT's with ORX-pipe, K&N CAI, pro 5.0 shifter, 3.73 gears, and a 75 shot of nitrous. he beat me by 3 1/2 cars with boltons & N20 . & guess what. i drive a 97 Z28 so he beat my bolton LT1 by only 3 1/2 cars. the 2v gt was made to run with the LT1. 3v gt's are made run with ls1's.
I raced a LT1 with heads and cams more could have been done idk and that was be by a half car at the 1/4mile. I have 4:10, o/r midpipe, LM1, and intake with a SCT tuner and AUTO. so i call B/s on u. Inless the Mustang drivers couldn't drive
i have alot of boltons. and people usually take the time to learn about its rival car. the LT1 responds to intake and exhaust mods better than the mustang. the ports on the camaro's LT1 heads are tiny so the camaro wouldnt beat the Vettes. yes the cobra is the one exception from the 2V engines. so you have gears and most likey the tuner you have lets you adjust the firmness on the transmission. those 2 things alone is better than a standard trans with short throw and performance clutch.
the best i have ran is a 13.4 with a slipping clutch. i have my new RAM powergrip clutch that holds up to 550 HP. but i have not installed yet. by the end of november i will be tossing out the shorty headers and switching to long tube with off road Y-pipe and adding 4.10 gears. im looking to break 12's. then after that running constant low-mid 12's with intake manifold, throttle body, whole new ignition, 1.6 roller rockers, and a Tune. whats your best time?
@SAtownZ28 See ya at SAR! 98 GT pi swap, full bolt ons, typhoon intake, 3.73's, built 4r70w, sct fc3 with tunes. Its black w/ black bullitts DD in rear.
@MrRobGT lol i would but i Finally blew my LT1 after 180,000 miles. it is currently going thru a Cam swap. i hope to get it to the track by this summer.
@SAtownZ28 Texan to Texan. I find this vid incomplete as well. But I think you need to give respect where its due, the 4.6 does well for lack of REAL parts. That said the 2v mod motors now just recently got a set of aftermarket heads (TFS) which hasn't been remotely tapped but on a few builds. Said heads on a stock bottom end with supporting mods get's over 450hp@the crank. Up the cr, add nasty cams, rev to 7500...theres more. Lower the cr add FI with worked TFS, i bet there will be some 1000hp
@MrRobGT i give respect but i just didnt like how Ford was Struggling for 10 Years to catch up to GM. they both had put the same size motors with same HP till the 90's came. the thing i dont like is how Ford kind of gave up and work on just the Cobras and kind of just pushed the GT(its best seller) aside. i Just feel that they were not being fair to the people that were trying to compete with Z28's.
@SAtownZ28 Ford didnt give up, they just werent ready for an LS1! Who was???
Then the z28/ta dies, so ford had no reason to fight a ghost... Now, 2011, read em and weap! type in 2011 Mustang 5.0 vs Camaro 6.2L drag races. For the record, im an AMERICAN car guy, no use fighting in the locker room! Lets go get some souerkraut with a side of rice... then teramisu for desert!
@MrRobGT im dont really lean way towards one company anymore. im glad the Mustang is getting its 5.0 back. im just upset it has taken Ford this long for the GT to Compete with Camaro again. i hope Ford walks away from S/C there cars and i hope GM just puts better parts in its motors instead of just making them bigger. what so hard about putting a step higher heads and a step higher Cam. so what if it would loose a couple MPG. thats what aftermarket Chips are for.
@SAtownZ28 Emissions are above all else, if it doesnt get the gas mileage, it doesnt get to sell. I think its awesome Chevrolet uses that big motor and still passes the sniffer! Keep it coming!!!
@SAtownZ28 yeah I feel u if ford put the 5.4 2v in the 94-98 and the 5.4 3v in the 98 04 it wold been a nasty competicion for the LT-1 and LS-1 F-body's
@SAtownZ28 i have only ran my car once so far it was about 103 F so it was pretty hot and my car ran a 13.2 at 107 i imagine it could break into the 12s especially after i put eibach pro street coil overs and bbk shortie headers
@SAtownZ28 Not to be a jerk but I've run in the 13.397 in my stock 2010 Mustang GT. It is completely stock and I mean completely. No tune, no drag tires, no cold air intake or pulleys. It is exactly as I drove it off the showroom floor and my best trap speed to date is 106.67mph. What kind of HP do you suppose that I am making at the rear wheels in a 3670 lbs. car with me in it? I respect the LS1 but overhead cam engines are where it's at.
@vxer1000 i have heard of stuff like this but its uncommon. there have been lt1's that run low 13'sstock. there have been 03-04 mach 1's stock that have been able to run close to what 03-04 cobras do. same for ls1's. your lucky dude, but OHC motors many internal parts make it a more expensive & difficult build most of the time. i did a cam swap in my LT1 boosting its power from 330hp to around 380 for $300-$400 & did in my garage. i have heard of OHC cam swaps being close to $2K at a shop.
@SAtownZ28 Yes, it is uncommon. I actually spanked a 2010 Camaro SS auto at the track and pulled away from him at mid track. Not bad for a 4.6L. The multivalve motors are expensive, but emissions laws are forcing us in this direction. I wish they all just had pushrods because they are dirt simple (I used to have a Fox Mustang), but the new 5.0 is just starting to show what these multivalve engines are capable of. Hopefully, prices for mods will come down as they become more common.
Will you all quit bitchin and click another video. Stop all the hate, there's just as many badass mustangs as camaros. End of story
