Plus i think this is on his drumming DVD, and on a drumming techniques DVD, stuff is more likely gonna need demonstrate skill with all the odd time signatures and so on, rather than just be catchy. Though i can see a lot of people listening to stuff like this, especially if they're into drums.

I guess you gotta play what you enjoy playing, not just whatever is popular at the time.

En mi sincera opinión, debería haber quedado Marco Minnemann, Thomas Lang o Aquiles Priester, pero bue... estos "pro" siempre arreglan las cosas a su manera! jaja Mirá los video "The spirit carries on" de Dream Theater. Priester is a decent metal drummer, but he doesn't even know the rudiments (paradiddle ecc), and it's not so fast.. he does the same tricks that portnoy does, and trust me you need a couple of months to learn them.. so that's nothing special. mangini taught at berklee, has a guinness world record, played (also) with steve vai, can play death metal, rock, blues, jazz, everything, knows perfectly all the rudiments
