你好 Peggy。最近怎麼樣? I have a quick 2 part question. I notice that in all the videos about money in Mandarin, the numbers are always easy, even numbers. At my work, we have sales tax on everything and the prices come out odd. Are prices always simple round numbers in China and Taiwan?
I asked some visiting Taiwanese one time how to say something costs $7.50. They told me that you would say “七點五元。” Now, one of the things I sell most often comes out to 9.64. In that case, would I say "九點六十四塊“?
@mst0068 In Taiwan, the price is always round. The smallest dollar amount is "1 NTD - 一圓/yi4yuan2". When I was in China, I noticed there is "mao2" which is smaller than "yuan2" in Renminbi . For example, "1.5 RMB - 一點五毛/yi1dian3wu3mao2".
In USD or Euro, we address money the way you mentioned and you can also say it with the currency. "7.50 USD" would be "七點五美元".
and i wanted to tell you that you teach very good the mandarin..even if mandarin if very difficult to us..but if some beatiful girl like you teach it it make it easy.. wo jue de ni fei chang piao liang..
ni hao laoshi Peggy i just wanted to say xiexie for making these videos I am currently taking Mandarin Chinese lessons in High School and you are a lot of help to me once again xiexie
Great video. What if I wanted to shorten the whole conversation and say "how much money are 3 buns?" or "how much for 3 buns?" How would you say this in chinese?

I live in Fushun, and that's tai gui le for steamed buns! Surely they aren't that expensive in Taiwan! 5 kuai, tops up here in Liaoning.

@Nanashi123
Yes, it literally asks 'how do you sell...?" Mostly the answer to that question would come with a measure world. :)
For example, liang3ge5 wu3bai3 - two for 500
