Ok, this may be a stupid question, but I'm old school. What, besides the clamp is the difference in an old fashioned curling iron and a curling wand? It seems like it would just be an easier way to burn your fingers to me.

I liked this video better than some of the other wand tutorials I've seen! I have a hard time with mine and just want to see how others position it! In the future I'd try to position the camera differently so we can really see what you're doing with your hair instead of focusing on your midsection. Just a suggestion :) Thanks for the help!

i have layered hair, and the top parts are pretty short. i'm finding it extremely difficult to curl it with the wand. it's really frustrating. especially the right side of my head. it's easier to curl with a clamp, but the curls dont ever come out on the top (with the wand they SHOULD, except my hair is coming out dented and looking stupid). right now i hate the wand :(

You should definitely try to do your hair in layers, no matter what thickness. I find that it's a lot easier and turns out better and nicer looking.
