@caiocrz I'd say they're equally tallented. F1 is physically demanding; long races, hot conditions, G forces.

Rally is mentally demanding, unclear tracks, where one slip and you're upside down in a tree.

You need to be a pretty special person to excell at either sport.

o and such is the difference a driver makes in rallying I would bet Loeb would be pushing for wins even at the developing Mini, this is not circuit racing going round and round the same track 80 times, the driver has to do recce, decide notes and get one shot at the stage followed by a repeat later though conditions constantly change so they really do drive by the seat of their pants, Loeb can do this better than anyone and as long as he keeps his standard aint no manufacturer going to beat him

Ah Mikko Hirvonen.. always the brides maid and never the bride.. through sheer talent and relentless consistency Sebastian Loeb has killed the WRC, with strict regulations and development restrictions the cars are pretty much all the fucking same the only difference is the drivers and the only man who looks like maybe challenging Loebs crown consistently, is another bloody french Citroen driver, glad to see other manufacturers entering but honestly its just for scraps as long as Loeb competes

@PangeaSpreads In motorsport, the car ALWAYS matters more than the driver. In rallying, the driver is more important than in most other racing series, but the car is still what matters most. I doubt Loeb would be winning if he was driving the Mini. Also, I for one LOVE that I am able to see Loeb dominate the way he has. Most likely, it won't happen again, so I will enjoy it for as long as Loeb continues to drive. He is quite possibly the most complete driver I have ever seen.

@UltimateWheelman Ya your perfectly correct, Citroën have built cars better than ford for the last 8 years or so even when ford picked up a couple of manufacturers.. shut the fuck up, if Loeb was in a Ford or a fucking Lada the man would be winning, mini are developing as will vw OBVIOUSLY but when they reach the sharp end of development, because of restrictive development regulations the cars will never be at such an advantage as to beat Loeb, as it stands, the rally driver is a SERIOUS factor

@UltimateWheelman You just don't get it do you, telemetry and tolerances tell engineers the strengths and weaknesses of car and all their bits and pieces, tyre wear, suspension feedback etc but in rallying in particular there is no substitute for the driver and in Loeb, not only can he make a car dance but his knowledge of how to make it do that is what engineers feed off and ultimately make the difference, he would transform any team if they followed his input and have the engineers to oblique

And why would Loeb say that one of the pivotal reasons for staying in the WRC for two more years was the competitiveness of the DS3?
