  • Nice! How did such racism occur? I suppose with the African slave trade? I think that is what did it. Besides, some people there were alive when slaves where still used. I know someone who is. Anyway, Nice video!

  • Happy (belated) Birthday Martin Luther King Jr.!!!

  • civil rights are granted to you by goverment, while they deny your human rights

  • check out the new song "FULL JUSTICE" now on Youtube!!

  • there are many African Americans who have given great contributions to our society. But there are many more who choose to be ignorant, even lash out in some warped sense of idiocracy. MLK Jr. did not die for you!

  • Excellent vid and document

  • I find it sad that so many blacks are racists towards white people, when, without the whites, they would still be slaves picking cotton. Im going to be called racist for saying that, because I'm white, but when a black person calls a white man a racist name, nothings done at all. If I ran up to a black man and called him a racist name, I would be persecuted. Funny how it works eh?

  • This is a really great and inspirational video. Black people nowadays take advantage of the freedom we have today.

  • Now all we need is for Palestine to be free and we're all set.

  • I was born when many of these incidents were still going on, luckily., I have no memories of it,but this is why I get so angry at some of my people today because of the way they act. We disgrace and disrespect the people who had to endure this madness so we could have the freedoms we take for granted.

  • made we weep. well done. god help us.

  • America aint S***, this country is still as evil as it was back then. as Minoritys we have to stick together and stop all of this black on black crime. All we had back then was each other now we want to kill one another. let it go, this Country is still messed up. the hell with America.

  • Southern California Edison is a disgrace. They speak of diversity but they are far from embracing true diversity. In my video S.C.E. Slave Company Edison you can get a look inside of Edison and see their true actions against African Americans.

  • and boom homework done thanks dude.

  • Omg, this was a really important era. Sadly there are too many racists still today. Especially in the middle east. They wanna kill all the jews, and I think its horrible.

  • @pipenissen its everywhere . It is terrible , our society is so divided. It appalls and upsets me =/

  • Cool stuff, my great great grandfather helped start the civil rights movement. He was the guy that told the lady to go sit in the backseat of the bus.

  • @MarathonVeteran You hear that one from Tosh.O huh?

  • @MarathonVeteran this is a silly statement the civil rights movement had already begun before Rosa Parks refussed to sit at the back of the bus.

i would educate you but I am not because I would rather see silly... Lol

  • thanks to this video, last year i took African Canadian studies 11in grade 10. and i did a photo essay for my exam, i came out with the best photo essay in the class along with the best the teacher had ever seen. so i am deeply in your debt for the inspiration for my video. (im really not trying to take people from your vid, but if you want to see mine, its on my profile)

  • I have learned about Dr. KIng in Japanese public juniro high school on social study text book 30years ago. He was a great man.

  • this is amazin

  • Thank you! I just wish the original music hadn't been deleted, I think it really added something to the over all feel of the video.

  • absolutely fantastic! best and most inspiring video 'bout this time in history

  • It always has to take dark days for the world to learn it's lesson. We STILL haven't learned as it's still around. history has been repeating itself cause no one has been listening.

  • Learning about Martin Luther King at school, cant believe how racist people were, great vid.

  • its so sad to see that many people died just because of the racism=(..but thank god were not in the 50s/60s anymore.

  • it sucks that the music got deleted on this one.

    very bold i love it!

  • watch my video, but this is very good,,, 5STAR

  • Moved me to tears. Excellent.

  • I really enjoyed this video, well done

  • beautiful video..i am actually doing a project and i have been look through videos this has been my favorite

  • aww, thanks!

  • Civil rights = human rights.

It's just American. I'm glad we're moving forward and oh - we have so far to go.

  • Finally Change has arrived....thanks to Barack Obama. I am not Black, I am HIspanic, and I feel just as proud. Because Obama represents all of the minority. He is the president of the USA, and Dr. King's dream has come true. We can now all rejoice and come together as equals. God Bless America.

  • Change has come....thanks to Obama. I am not Black, I am Hispanic, but I can tell you one thing, Obama represents the minority. I am so thankful that America is moving forward, and now we can all come together, as equals. God Bless America. We can now all heal.

  • a truly inspiring video

  • This is such a poignant video, almost brought me to tears.

  • what song was that?

  • The songs are credited at the end of the video!

  • @Jessbreath I think groelhal is asking about the song playing over the video, which is "Imagine" written by John Lennon but it was performed by it sounds like a black woman. That song is NOT credited at the end of the video. The music credits list Oooh Child and Turn Turn Turn by the Byrds but I did not hear either of those songs on the video. Just "Imagine" by John Lennon. Who is the black woman singing that song? It's a wonderful recording.

  • @bearnurse1 Actually groelhal's comment was made over a year ago before my original music selections were muted due to copyrights. After that happened I had to choose this particular song from a bank of music that youtube provided me. I'm not sure who sings it, but I think there is a tab that pops up that shows you who the song is by though.

  • thank u 4 makin dis video.

  • w0w tis video actually helped me wif my civil war project lol thxs 4 makin it

  • Excellent video! Definitely touches the heart of the Civil Rights Movement!

  • Great video! The pictures and commentary were thought provoking. However, when you showed the footage of the Children's March in Birmingham, it wasn't to protest the arrest of MLK, although it was on their minds. The march was a call to overcrowd the jails so Birmingham police would be overwhelmed.

  • Well when I get around to revising this project I'll include that part in it. Thanks! I feel sort of foolish now actually that you've informed me of this, o well.

  • It was sad that the arrest of MLK barely caused a ripple. Rev. Bevel was the one who began to organize the march by talking with local dj who convinced the children to leave school. MLK jr. never showed up for this march, but nonetheless is was a huge success! Birmingham police were shitting their pants so what do they do?!?! The frickin release the K-9 forces and water hoses :o(

Good luck with any remake you do. My students thought your clip was one of the BEST! BRAVO!

  • One of the best tributes to the civil rights moment I've seen!

  • So, i've been thinking about re-making this video, making it better, not sure when that'll happen though

  • Keep hope alive! We still have work to do...the discrepancies in education is daunting and unconstitutional! The federal government needs to step in and fund all schools now!

  • AWSOME JOB! LOVEEEEE THE VIDEO!

  • Thank you for posting this wonderful tribute. I was a child during this time and felt an overwhelming sadness and shame to see such hate when we were taught at home to love and respect all. Your video says many of the things I feel too. Great job. Let's all work to end such hatred and love each other as God intended.

  • i have to do a long project about 'Rosa Park's arrest'. it should be a news cast or something similar. So what can you tell me about Rosa park's arrest?

  • SADLY RACISM STILL EXISTS. IT MUST END

  • I completely agree, racism still exists in many forms all over the world. It is a sad truth.

  • Great video

  • Great job!!!!

  • awesome!

i've never seen pictures of the children marching before this, it was truly touching.

    well put together.

  • Great job! We should keep marching on because we're still living in a racist society!

    Thank you for posting!

  • sniff so sad

good songs though can u tell me what the first one is?

    thanx ;)

  • The first song is by the Five Stairsteps it's called O-O-H Child. Such a good song. I didn't want this to be too sad, I hope it shows mostly the good that came from the civil rights movement despite all the bad.

  • This was GREAT! and the music Also!

  • Inspiration for the world!!
