I grew up in the 60's. Didn't serve in 'Nam, but I had friends who did. Some didn't make it back. Others did, but were never the same after their war experience. It was the minorities and blue collar working class kids who couldn't afford college that ended up fighting and dying. The Four Seasons were very popular with a lot of these soldiers, as were The Doors and Creedence.

I grew up in the 60's. Didn't serve in 'Nam, but I had friends who did. Some didn't make it back. Others did, but were never the same after their war experience. It was the minorities and blue collar working class kids who couldn't afford college that ended up fighting and dying. The Four Seasons were very popular with a lot of these soldiers, as were The Doors and Creedence.

cueflare: As someone already pointed out, this song was a hit in '63,not the late 70s. And the song is clearly about a father advising his son to get over having broken up with his girlfriend. NOthing to do with Vietnam. So, good footage and good song, but bad decision to link the two together.

The "About this video" description has changed from when I first read it. Back then, cueflare stated that this song came out in the late 70's and was intended to describe the vietnam experience. That's all I was objecting to. His update is correct, and I like the video and agree that one could interpret the song to apply to the soldiers.

Let me enlighten you turkey breath--there were NO US combat troops in Vietnam when it fell--a few advisors and the embassy people. The clowns marching in the streets lost the war--that's true--and they are responsible for the 4 and a half million people (mostly women and children)who died in Laos, Cambodia, South Vietnam and Thailand after US combay troops were pulled out--the street marchers are the real murderers and losers
