Show a picture of the dog as a puppy? Really? This is misleading. The dog that was shot was a full grown dog that had chased a kid and charged a cop. It's better off dead.
A mistake was made, but I forgive the Cop. It's sad that Parrot is dead, but I don't wish any ill will towards the Cop. I see people writing horrible things about this man saying how inhumane or stupid or evil he is etc. yet your words against him are evil, murderous, and vile. News accounts of such actions by cops go far back before the Internet; see the New York Times index. Men become cops because they're bullies on a power trip--it's the main draw into police work. They lobby for special treatment, destroy videos if they see someone taping them, investigate & acquit each other. "You're not a real cop till you shoot & kill," a dog is runner up consolation prize. They're supposed to use minimum force; the shooting was necessary ONLY for the cruelty of this 666er.
@skirts365 There was a case from Texas years ago about a family named the Leathermans, cops massacred their 2 dogs, news accounts said afterwards the cops stood in front yard for a while "laughing, joking, enjoying their seemingly limitless power," it was in the Fort Worth Star Telegram, became a court case, I think the courts let the butchers off, the "fix" is in and it doesn't help fairplay that there are so many police chiefs, judges & grand jurors who are MASONS!!! BEWARE VETERINARIANS TOO!

My dad has owned and trained many dogs for championships. I am sorry, but if your dog is stupid enough to run out the front door like that just because you open it and bark at police, it should be shot. Also, a dog is like a child, and it's your fault for raising a child and not teaching them proper manners. The police should be really shooting you, but since we live in a political correct world, the dog will be shot instead. The police did the right thing. Don't blame the police, blame yourself

@CybellaN Personally, I consider not training your dog a form of animal abuse. There are many reasons to say that ranging from the dog suffering from depression, increased stress, but most importantly because all it takes is one mistake for a dog to be euthanized and put to death. If a person attacks another person, they get an assault charge. Not at all the same for a dog. It's the owners fault. Naivete to believe dogs are treated like humans is what makes bad dog owners.

And another thing stop excusing the moron he killed a family member in front of children and they must forever see that for the rest of their lives,. @CybellaN If it was a therapy dog that was trained, it would be trained not to run outside the door just because you open it and attack a stranger. Having said that, it's against the law to set your dog loose on anyone if you know its prone to attack or be aggressive. What would you expect?

The dog was reacting to the fear of the children and never did he leap in a threatening manner only barking. As well the claim that the dog was menacing was at best shaky as the 'witness' couldn't decide whether the dog growled or bit the nephew. It was a neighbor on neighbor argument probably gone terribly wrong.

Instead of cooling off they called the authorities who should of only spoken with both families instead the cop took it upon himself to completely destroy a family. Those poor kids are the biggest victims forever having to watch their beloved pet shot before their eyes when they try to sleep at night. The only good part of this is now we know that officer cannot handle a weapon and hopefully will be removed before he shoots another animal or worse a person
if it was the white family that called on the black family it would have been called racist......and no i am not racist just can not stand ignorant people....and that dog did not look aggressive....dogs talk by barking....humans talk and we can not just kill them so they will shut up.....
