  • Great thoughts...my Dad died right before my 18th birthday and it's still a big gap in my life. I'm told I'm a "carbon copy" of him and my mothers friends, when they haven't seen me in awhile, sometimes react very strongly because they say I remind them of him at "my age." It's a touching and jarring experience at the same time.

  • @jrsnyderjr Interesting comment & have you ever wondered what your Dad might have looked like as he aged? I am always wondering what my mother's smiling face would have looked like, say, in her seventies. Thanks & Hugs

  • @bugsinrug Yes! I wonder that a lot (what he would have looked like). If I look like him now as he did in his fifties, how would he look now in his eighties? Would that be what I would look like in 30 years?

I was so lucky, my parents were just right for each other and married for 30 years before he passed away. They were very good parents and my sister and I had a very happy childhood. My mother never remarried because she said she could never find such a good match again!

  • Beautiful! Thank you. I lost my mother at 18 as well and early this year celebrated my 39th with no parents. I never failed to tell my dad that I loved him and I would go cook meals, mow grass, and other little things. It's what you do for those you love. I was too young when my mother died to appreciate these things as fully, yet because of her, I learned sooner than I might have and have grasped every opportunity. Be kind to yourself and share the light often. Blessings!

  • @7RaeStorm Thankyou so much for this heartfelt comment. Hugs to you!

  • Chris, I've been so busy with school lately and finally had some time to come catch up on your videos. This one moved me to tears. I commented on your older video about your mother, and still I feel compelled to comment here as well. I thank you for making videos like this; it inspires me to continue to be the best son I can be to my parents. I'm turning 20 in November, but I'm already realizing how fast life goes by, and how the unexpected happens all too often. Thank you... ~Hugs, Caleb

  • @watcherfilmsinc aww...Caleb, thankyou so much for your wonderful comment. Hugs!

  • I talk to my mom everyday. I can't imagine what it will be like when she is gone.

  • @lolaknows you're so lucky Tammy. hugs~

  • I used to brush my mom's long beautiful black hair.

    BIG HUGS for you

  • @tweetnes that's a lovely memory Irene. hugs~

  • Beautiful, beautiful story Chris. You got me weeping a bit. *hugs*

  • @BlueFlamingoVlogs Thanks Adrian. Hugs~

  • I had already made plans to go with my dad to dinner...glad I did! I lost my mom in 2007 to ALS and I miss her everyday.

  • @debnNC08 Sorry that your mom has passed. You still have your father which is a blessing. hugs~

  • Love this! Thanks for sharing your sentiment. Now I have to go and wash my face :0) Dad will be here at 8:30 to pick up his computer. Xo

  • @Clarachk Thanks so much!

  • I know exactly what your feeling Chris I lost my mom at 16...I catch myself watching women together that you know are mothers and daughters going shopping or out to lunch wondering what that must be like...I can imagine what my mother would look like today she would look like my grandmother did in her later years and what I will look like because I'm my mothers clone I look just like her. : O )

  • @Carballoca Yes, I do the same things as you. (((Hugs)))

  • (((Chris)))

  • @Blinkazoid (((Blink)))

  • Chris, Your words are so beautiful. I wish I could brush my Mama's hair. Or just hear her voice. I miss my parents terribly. My Mom loved head scarves. I have one that is similar to one she always wore. Even though, it isn't one of hers, when I saw it in the thrift store I had to buy it since it reminded me so much of my mom. Each time i open the drawer and see it, I am that little girl again, watching Mom put her scarf on before we leave to go somewhere. Thank you, Chris. You made Joan's day!

  • @Moonchimes thankyou dear Marilyn. I helped Joan pick out a scarf to match her outfit, and she tied it so beautifully around her neck..making it look effortless..reminded me of my Mom. We're so lucky to have such wonderful memories aren't we?! Hugs!

  • Chris, honey....I was in tears by the end of this video because of all of the trouble my dad is having (still) and having been in and out of the hospital for the past three weeks. You were so sweet to go over there and help your friends mom. My mom and I get along *okay* but it's strained sometimes. I am continually trying harder to have it be peaceful. Thank you so very much for making this vlog because it came at a really good time. Love and hugs to you sweet lady!

  • @PaintedRavensong Mic, sometimes relationships with parents are difficult I know...but you are keeping the lines of communication open and that's the main thing. Your love will filter through to your Mom. Still prayin' for your Dad here. Hugs!

  • Sweet video Chris, hugs,

(Oh, and I thought of you in San Francisco on Sunday...one of the little shops in Chinatown had sock monkey HATS!!)

    S.

  • @IWalk4tnt Sock monkey hats???!! Oh, how wonderful !! :-) Thanks for watching and commenting Sandi. hugs!

  • Sad video? Nah, I didn't find this sad at all. If anything, it's a thoroughly uplifting story.

You just made me a little extra glad I decided to stay in socal so that I could be near my own parents.

    xoxo

  • @OhCurt You're so lucky to still have your parents Curt. Thanks & big hugs!

  • @billyCtv (((Billy)))

  • he just graduated from truck driving school? now I know where those crazy drivers are coming from. ;-P

  • @oldvision hee hee... ain't he somethin'?! :-D

  • Very beautiful video, Chris. I lost my mom just a few years ago and still haven't quite come to terms with it.

  • @Perroquet51 I don't think we ever really come to terms with such a loss Marc. We adjust and go on ... but our hearts carry a longing that cannot be filled .. not until we're called home as well. hugs~

  • Oh Chris this video meant a lot to me. my mum died suddenly the week before christmas 9 yrs ago. 9 wks after i gave birth to my son. i have 2 older daughters and she adored them i just wish she could have seen her only grandson too. i miss her every day. miss hearing her voice too. love ya Chris, thoughtful video.

  • @longcara Oh, I believe that your mom saw your son being born .. and can still see everyone today . We just have to patient till we can all be reunited one day. I've been missing my mom since 1969. Hugs~

  • Loved this Chris! I spent the day with my dad today and really enjoyed it even though he went in and out of knowing who I was!! For the most part, he mostly knew he was with someone who loved him and was kind to him and sometimes that is all that matters! I also talked to my mom on the phone, so I got to spend time with both my parents today. I feel very fortunate to still have them both! xoxo

  • @mysteryglo You're so right Judy...he felt loved while you visited and that's all that matters. Thanks & Hugs~

  • I lost my mom at a fairly young age, too...I still miss her terribly after 16 years. Lovely, lovely video, sweet Chris!

  • @Illuminatta I don't think that we ever stop missing our parents. We have to hang on to our memories until we all can be together again. Thanks so much for watching and for your lovely vid response. Hugs~

  • @bugsinrug (((((Chris)))))

  • What a lovely video Chris, I watched it with tears comming down my face. It must have been horrible to lose your mom so young. I feel so blessed to have my mom , she is 73 and seems to have more energy than all us, lol. I call her everyday and we can chat about anything. I would not know what I would do without her in my life. I do exactly like you say, I send her unexpected gifts that I know she will love. I am glad you got to spend time with your friends mom. I wish dad was still alive!

    hugs

  • @justwant2bhappy You're so lucky to still have your Mom Lauren. I know that you cherish each moment with her. Hugs~

  • I would say this is one of the best videos you have made Chrissy, but I cant, because they are all the best. You are an awesome lady and friend and the message in the video is spot on. Hugs Phil

  • @Zoltrix67 Thankyou so much Phil. Hugs~

  • I wish you would hug my mom for me.

  • @CrappyCartoons I would if I could. thankyou

  • Beautiful video Chris. I lost my Mom this past March. We took care of each other and lived together for many years. I am still grieving, it still doesn't seem real..I miss her and my Dad so much. At least they knew I loved them, and I know they loved me. Bless you Chris. Hugs, Kevin

  • @photo2010 Oh, I'm sorry for your loss Kevin. Like you say, your Mom and your Dad knew that you loved them, and they you....that's beautiful. hugs~

  • I cherish each moment with my Mom... now more than ever!

  • @blastmyvideo I'm so glad that you do ! Thanks for watching.

  • Beautiful. I totally relate.

  • @BitterSweetSuperstar thanks so much :-)

  • Your video moved me to tears. Thank you for sharing this. You said what many of us feel.

  • @dustyjane aww..thankyou so much for watching. hugs

  • I never really got to see my mom grow old either. I was married in March and my Mom died in April of the same year. It's like she knew she could leave bec someone else was there to watch over me. That was a very very long time ago - and yet not a day goes by where I don't remember and think about her. This was a beautiful vlog Chris with a great message. I wish I could call them - I so wish it.

  • @dl737 I know what you mean Danny. My mom passed just three months after Heather, my daughter was born and just one month to the day, after Christmas...like it was okay to leave then...she was so terribly ill. I wish I could call my parents too. (((Danny)))

  • This is like the sweetest video ever...I love the message & you sweetie!

    (((hug)))

  • @PrincessDiana161 Thankyou so much Diana. Hugs~

  • Precious Chris....I'm so glad you helped out Sue's mom today...

I can't recall Mom's voice at times...it sees so long ago.... and far away...

    Love you....hugging you tight.

    Teed xxx

  • @nancyleeould I'm glad that I did too Teed. Some days I sit quietly and try to concentrate really hard on remembering Mom's voice... once in awhile I can hear a word or a giggle...but like you say....long ago and far away... Love you too!

  • Oh Chris,

This was such a sweet sweet story.

My mom lives with me, so I see her daily :)

I cherish my dad the times I do get to see him and wait on him hand and foot while in his presence. I know I do not have them for much longer and dread the day.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts w/ us

  • @silverscreamgrl Thankyou Beth! hugs~

  • having lost both my mom and dad way too young for both, I can tell you, you can NEVER do enough for them. If you do and do and do and do from now until they are no longer with you, after they're gone, you will miss them so much and wish you could do more, but you can't. No matter what they do that may annoy you, or anger you, you will WISH they'd come back and do those SAME THINGS. I'd do anything to be able to hug my parents, even one last time. Anything. The time you get is never enough.

  • @piwacket33 Very true words. Thanks for watching & commenting.

  • @piwacket33 ...by the way...wasn't "Piwacket" the name of the cat in Bell, Book, & Candle? :-)

  • @bugsinrug Yup, that's where I got it from... except I spelled it wrong. It's also the name of an owl in greek mythology, I think.

I named my cat Piwacket, and then I got her an American Express card that says

Pi Wacket on it. Pi is gone now, but I still get mail in her name. (I still have her credit card tho) =^..^=

  • Chris, I had to wait to watch this until I got home from work, because I saw it up there and I knew it would really strike a chord with me since my mom moved in with me three months ago. I don't have my dad anymore and that makes me appreciate my mom even more each day. I know some day (hopefully a long time from now) she won't be with me anymore and I know it is going to be the hardest thing I will ever go through in my life. My mom is my friend and my mom. She is such a gift to me.

  • Thank you Chris for reminding me of that. Sometimes when living with her on a day to day basis, I lose sight of what a precious gift I have in being able to spend so much time with her and some day this time will bring me comfort.

    Hugs!

  • @AmethystButterflyGrl You're a wonderful daughter Lori. Hugs!

  • @bugsinrug I try really hard Chris, but I'm afraid I will never be the daughter my mom deserves. Hard to explain what I mean, but she is such a good mom, she really deserves the best, and that sure isn't me!

  • @AmethystButterflyGrl Of course it is you! You take great care of her & you love her. What more could a mother ask for? (((Lori)))

  • @bugsinrug A daughter with more patience and more time. Those things spring to mind first. Chris, you're wonderful! :)

  • It's so special you got to feel the love of a mother once again,Chris! I love you, too!

  • @genmama1955 Yes, it was very special. xoxox

  • Something I needed to hear (((Chris)))

My mom lives with me and she's a pain in the butt some times

and at times get's on my last nerve. I will try harder...

    know what I mean? lol

    hugs, Irene xo

  • @IreneK43 Yes, I know what you mean...lol....but just imagine what a pain in the butt we were to them when we were growing up! :-) Hugs!

  • I will soon be popping over to Mom's to drop something off... It's only a 5000 km drive.

I don't think I'll be brushing her hair, though.

  • @fehquig Aww..Andy...your mom is a sweetie as I have seen in your vids. I know that you love her dearly. hugs!

  • Even tho there was the sadeness it was wonderful you were able to have that special time with your friend's mom. The Universe I believe works like that...you needed that mom time and she came into your life even if it was just the afternoon. : )

  • @capergirl1976 Yes, you're right Alesha... I did need that "motherly" closeness today. Big hugs!

  • Lovely video, Chris, poignant, I think, not sad. My mom has been gone for only 4 years and we had an often difficult relationship but I miss her everyday and would be eager to spend even a bad day with her now. Beyond that -- what I wouldn't give to be able to crawl into my grampa's lap just one more time ... heheh -- now, that might be sad -- lol.

  • @liz1060 Yup, I understand completely liz. thanks & hugs

  • I made a video response for you. Producing it now.. xox

  • @ItalianStallionette and it was awesome. thankyou sweet lady xoxo

  • A moving videos, Chris! I wish I was as close to my mom to be able to do those things. She just won't allow us to get close to her. I wish she would. I want to spend time with my mom but she won't allow it. Hugs!!!

  • @Jinxie228 Aww..that's such a shame Martha. She must have had something happen during her formative years to make her so distant in her older years. Maybe send her a pretty card with a short note inside telling her that you love her. Hugs!

  • @bugsinrug She lived a hard life, grew up in the mountains of Kentucky. She was taken out of school in 8th grade and married at 14 (Think of Loretta Lynn - coal miner's daughter). She had 3 kids and divorced by the time she was 18 and her dad died in her arms when she was 18. All 4 of us have tried to be understanding and show her love but she refuses to let her guard down, sadly.

  • @Jinxie228 Perhaps your mother, due to her past experiences, is afraid to show love for fear of losing it like she did her father? Sounds like she never got to have a real childhood or know the joy of her teenage years. Sad. (((Martha)))

  • Wish I could make things different for you...glad you had parents who were worthy to be missed. Mine were too... And it's true...I want to hear my Mom laugh, she would laugh until she had tears..My Dad played practical jokes and would enjoy the reactions he got...which would be in the next batch of stories. Hugs for you...thanks for the vid.

  • @trvlbuggy My Dad was the same way...always playing practical jokes and making my Mom laugh till she cried. I miss them both each and every day. Thanks for watching!

  • Continued: Then I have these moments when I look at my children, and worry that I won't be here for them like I have had the privledge with my parents. It is unlikely I will grow old, and I worry I won't meet my grandchildren.... or watch my children get married. I try to tell them all the time how much they are in my heart all the time. I started vlogging for this reason actually. Just in case. Posting this on facebook. Everyone should watch you!

  • @ItalianStallionette Gina, you are a delight. Your parents are so lucky to have had and to have you as are your children and your partner. You're gonna be around for a long, long time. Love you!

  • You are making me cry Chris. I just got off the phone with my mother. I know that I am lucky. I love my mother, and I know when she goes, a part of me will go with her. My mother shares her pain with me about not having her mother and father around. I can see the child in her when she talks about them. It's strange, but after all these years, when I see my parents, I feel safe in a way that nobody else can make me feel. Does this make sense?

  • Thanks for sharing your story Chris. My father passed away in December, sadly, we were never close. I hope you cheer up and try to believe that maybe your Mom is watching and maybe when you're asleep, her arms are around you. Take Care. Al

  • @TheDarksEmpyrean Aww...thankyou Al. You know..there is a way that I believe you can connect with your father. If you can find a quiet place, become very still...and ask the Universe to send a message of love to your father....forgive him for his inablilty to be close to you....it's amazing what can happen. Hugs!

  • Yes, it's time for a phone call to Mom, Chris. But I really don't think I'll be styling her hair anytime soon. Thank you for the good advice.

  • @robertpina99 Make that call Robert. You don't have to style her hair silly boy. Hugs!

  • @CarolinAllik5 thanks Carolin. hugs~

  • of course she remembered you, you are truly unforgettable :-)

    Great story ((((Chris)))

  • @Ranblv What a lovely thing to say! (((Ran)))

  • ((( Chris )))

  • @twish1999 thanks twish ~ hugs

  • I had to stop this video and call my mom. We had a nice chat. Thank you for a wonderful video.

  • @timido66 Aww...that's so nice Van. Thankyou so much. hugs~

  • This video made me cry. I think those of us who lost our mothers at such a young age can totally relate to what you are saying Chris. I think I told you my mother died when I was 17. I gave a little speech one time in church on Mother's day saying just about what you have said here. Those who have mother's still with them are indeed blessed. This is just a precious video Chris. Hugs!

  • @imperceptibleme Yes, I remember you saying that you were only 17 when you lost your mother Melissa. It leaves a sad hollow in one's heart doesn't it? Hugs!

  • now my mascara is running.

  • @mickmusing How many times have you been told to buy the waterproof kind Michael ?!! Love you!

  • What an inspiration you are ! You impart such wisdom !

You honored your Mom today, by honoring Sue's Mom today !

  • @cheesestr4wz Thankyou so much. :-)

  • Chris! You are a mind reader - just as I was typing 'Sue gave you a gift when she asked you to visit her mom' you said exactly that. People will gush all over you about how nice it was of you to help that lady, but the truth is that as nice as it was, she gave you back just as much. My folks are gone too; but I have my Mom's sister & she gives me so much love. The stories, the discussions, the laughs, the time with her all add up to more than I could ever give her. I'm so glad you had that too.

  • @thizizliz I know how much your Auntie means to you liz & it is awesome that you get to spend time with her. Thanks for watching. hugs!
