Never Mario Del Monaco was better than Domingo performing this aria. And lets not forget that Mr. Monaco was doing playback at the end of his career, wile Mr. Domingo still sings at the age of 70. (and i hope he will a long time from now on)

Beeing an opera siner, means that you must have a generaus voice and a beautifull acting style. Domingo has all this things. He is exelent! If we are looking Pavarotti. He has just good vocal parts. Domingo is the best opera singer ever!

@sadi0019 I do not agree with you. domingo is a very fine actor and singer but not too good at some operas he choose to sing and not too good from a vocal tecnique point of view. I presume every one of us have our own tastes. Kraus was to me far beyong any tenor as he had it all, looks, art, excellent repertory, tecnique. its only my position here, Regards

First of all I have the utmost respect for Domingo and Pavarotti, they are both gifts to our world. Acting wise, Domingo has such a natural pull to perform, but vocally he is very "tight." Regardless that this is an intensely emotional aria, you can see the physical strain that he is emitting to sing this material. Pavarotti on the other hand, attempts acting with little to no avail, but his voice floats off of his lips as though he wasn't even trying.

Regardless, they both are incredible.
