  • Great Video, 5 Stars!

  • I really hope there was not foul play with this. We so not get enough steam railtours up here in Scotland. Seven hours, great, thats great news for potential future tours.

To me, It looks deliberate. A total loss of traction like that is un usual to say the least. I could be wrong tho.

  • Spectacular video!

  • @DiesIraePL good video thanks

  • Flange greaser or not there seem to be a lot of UK videos on Youtube where the steam loco is handling the grade quite easily approaching the photographers and then inexplicabley loses and cannot regain traction even on a light throttle. Strange.

  • @CGT867 It's easily done, been there, done it, got the t shirt

  • Hi Philip, another great video, did they manage to lift the train out by its self or did they get help.

I would like to what happened could you upload that video please.

    Thanks again

  • My heart was in my mouth at 1:05 I thought it was going to be Blue Peter all over again! D:

  • Holy shit, the train actually slips backwards a bit when it stalls!

Great to see steam on the Kyle line. It would also be great to have some freight back on the line.

    Excellent film, well done.

  • A joy to watch but I suspect foul play with that wheel slip, something has to be awry to make it let go like that and then continue to struggle to get adhesion.

  • Its just wunderful!

  • Haha Gropey Bob made an arse of it, nothing to do with greasy rails!

  • You certainly pick some fabulous locations, coupled with great camera work, and a eye for great shots, really enjoyed the trip as a whole through your lense, thanks

  • Exemplary work Phil, superb location choices making every video a joy to watch...5* Bob

  • uff! ahora entiendo por qué hay tanta niebla.. =P

  • Yes , I agree with FernFilms , very suspicious the way the loco completely lost grip in front of the camera set-up. Compare youtube 45407 140408 same location last year identical conditions , no problem with adhesion at that point . 61994 incident caused nearly 7 hours of delay to train services .

  • According to secondary sources, there was a flange greaser that Network Rail had installed there recently which was not there when 45407 went up the climb. I dont think even the crews knew about it.

  • I think the original comment was a joke, and I do hope that that too is a joke rather than seriously trying to insinuate something.

    :-/

  • Come on! Admit it! You greased the rails didn't you.

    Awesome filming.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Great Video, 5 Stars!

  • Great video! Exciting!

  • Another great piece of work

  • Tremendous locations once again and great filming, you obviously had this planned like a military exercise. Thank you.

  • Stunning! The climb to Ravens Rock was impressive. The scenes you've achieved 'on tour' were magnificent.

  • Very nice again Phil. Ashesion's a bitch eh ?

  • An excellent spot of locations, was pretty interesting seeing the K4 slipping up. Now I wish I coulda gone up to Scotland. One day when I pass my driving test I might.
