  • Hi - I have a Verizon Wireless Router, a Brother Printer and a Mac Laptop. I tried using the IP address you gave me, but i'm not sure its working. Is there soemthing different I should be doing?

  • @MLivesey10 to find the IP of your router, run cmd (windows key + r, then type cmd). As soon as the black box appears type 'ipconfig' without quotations. Hit enter then look for 'Default Gateway' This is the IP you should use.

  • does this work for iOS

  • dude mine says collecting printer status...and then..printer not responding...btw In the router configuration there is Enable/Disable Print Server...i tried both with your setting...my Ip is different of course...I looked my IP up using cmd > ipconfig > default gateway...what am i doing wrong...Canon Printer btw

  • @Agaptos - hmmm haven't had that problem before. No in my router configuration there isn't an Enable/Disable print server option. If your router does then try both with it off and with it on. Just wondering what sort or router do you have?

  • one question for u. So, in order to set up wireless, do i have to have a router? where can i get one?

  • hey British kid

  • Does the server hub have to somehow be connected to the main network? and that IP 192.168.1.253 is that the default gateway of the hub? Thanks

  • @MikeKaSoft - no it doesn't have to be connected to the main network. And yes IP: 192.168.1.253 is the default gateway for the BT homehub 2

  • @technologyguy223 hmm, my default gateway for my hub is 192.168.1.254. Its that for all my home hubs. anyway, mine is a type B so it wont work anyway... Thanks though!

  • @MikeKaSoft - 192.168.1.254 is to access the settings, the USB port default IP is 192.168.1.253. This will work with your hub because it works with any router with a USB port.

  • @technologyguy223 well its not working for me :(

  • @MikeKaSoft stick the IP into windows explorer (my computer) at the top in the address bar and see if anything comes up. you need the printer connected btw

  • @technologyguy223 cool I will try that in a sec, and of course I have to plug the printer in :P Cheers

  • we just got an Epson printer. I installed the driver. and it prints just fine using the USB cable. now the problem is that I can not set it up to print wirelessly. when I am setting up the network. I go through all the stages till I got to a point that the computer finds the printer but it is crossed with a red line saying it is not connected. I mean it has no IP address. I followed your video step by step BUT I still can not put it to work. would you please help me? thanks in advance

  • sorry bro :( but it when i tried to print my science lab assignment it worked but in properties when i clicked black/white then ok... it didnt print... it showed the printer printing but didnt print like the ink level was empty even though it was full :(

    need help bro thx :)

  • loved the tutorial, but it didnt work for me... i did everything right but when hit print it wont work... it only works when i connect the usb wire into my laptop...

    have any suggestions bro?

  • great tutorial thanx

  • ya i have a hp deskjet 3051A and its not coming up on the list wat do i do

  • @MegaHamad123 - have you installed all the drivers? You nearly always need a CD too, not just plugging the printer into the PC. Once all drivers are installed, it should be there. Josh

  • everything ok but i have an HP laserjet 2600n and it doesnt appear at the list of the printers, i couldnt install the software, because it couldnt find the printer, any ideas?

  • @lolzpwnz - there should have been a disc with drivers that came with your printer, if you have lost it, google: 'HP laserjet 2600n driver download' and click the first link by 'h20000(dot)www2(dot)hp(dot)com' This should let you install the drivers for your printer. Hopefully the printer is then listed there. If it isn't, don't hesitate to inbox me and I shall try to help you further. Josh :)

  • @technologyguy223 one more question i fixed the thing with the drivers, but does the router have to be connected to internet connection or can it just be directly connected wirelessly in laptop?

  • @lolzpwnz - there is no need to connect the router to the internet, mine isn't but it can be if you want it too. Josh :)

  • I can't seem to get this to work. I followed the steps exactly, only I have XP as my operating system. I tried this on both my printers, a Brother HL-2220 and a Canon Pixma ip3000. The router I'm using is a D-Link DIR-655.

  • @jaywill4ever - are you using the correct IP address? The default IP address of your wireless router is: 192.168.0.1

  • @technologyguy223 Yeah, that's the IP address I used. I think maybe the USB port is not properly configured on the router. I'll have a look at that and see if I can get it to work.

  • This may sound like a dumb question but if I do this can I use my home hub normally?

  • @lukeool - well it will work with the hub yes, but the computer needs to know how to connect to the printer on the hub and how to communicate efficiently. Josh

  • So this works for airprinting with iPhones?

  • @wonsuk543 - this might work with airprinting. I have never used it myself so wouldn't know but my guess is that you need apple certified printers to use airprinting. Maybe a jailbroken iPhone might?

  • how do you find out this stuff...? lol thank you!

  • Techguy....I am getting a "spooling" status which eventually turns to an "error" when trying to print. Do you know what could be going wrong. Thanks

  • @cappieinca - I'm uploading a video of how to fix that now mate. If it doesn't work then just comment "this doesn't work!" and I will try to fix it again. techguy

  • i got my printer and internet hard wired to my main pc if i put it on the wifi dose this mean i got to do this on my laptop and my pc or will nothing channge on my main because the internet is hardwired

  • @Hi675445 - you will need to use this method for both the laptop and the wired desktop PC. Hope this helps!

  • i am useing netwok to connect to printer

  • is there a way i can have it willege and hadwierd

  • ol yes i got bt home hub 2 not old dose the job

  • Also does this method work with any printer, I have a 3 year olf HP photosmart all in one printer, If I connect that as well to the router, follow your method, would it work, I don't want to spend £20-30 on a adapter that makes my old hp printer wirless. Thanks

  • @mumihp - yes this method would work! Look at the personal message I sent you. I hope this helps!

  • Hi, I have EPSON Stylus Office BX525WD unfortunately it doesn't have wireless, only ethernet. Is there anyway to make a printer wirless instead of going down the router method. The main problem is that My internet connection is downstairs and I use wifi to access the internet. So I can connect my printer to my internet router. Is it possible to buy a cheap access router and use that to make the printer wirless and so you computer can access the printer without any cables???

  • @mumihp - did you get my personal message?

  • @technologyguy223 Hi, yeah, I returned my new epson printer, it was a hassle and I decided to get a laser printer which isn't wireless so this method will come into handy. while the epson printer was nice, it was to expensive to replace ink cartridge for larger use. Anyway thanks for the help.

  • @mumihp plug it in to the hub not the pc

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you....no I don't have to have my son set up my wireless printing. Never knew it was soooooo simple.

  • @cappieinca - It's ok mate! Glad I could help you out! Subscribe please!
