  • fantastic

  • phil collins or the most underrated singer of all times

  • I remember the first time I heard this song. My father had a K7 tape with this version. Well, i was a kid and i got a little scared, but i couldn't stop listening to this song for days.

  • i doN't see a lot of Black or Asian people in the audience. Were there many in Britain at the time or they just didN't like Genesis ?

  • Я почти ничего не понял. Тебе нравится

    Genesis? Или ты ругаешь его?

  • I'm asian and this song was huge in my country. I was scared to go to bed after listening to this haunting keyboards and evil gurgy laugh. This is the frist drumbeat I taught myself.

  • Yep, I'm sure we've all heard how Phil was influenced by Grand Master Flash on the laugh part.

  • Was at this concert. It was really great! Brings back memories :)

  • This song sounds badass when performed live.

  • amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just curious, how many people will wimbly hold???

  • This is the old wembley that got knocked down in 2001. It had a capacity of 82,000 for sports and for concerts it could easily have done more but they normally kept it at about that level for safety reasons. The new Wembley is slightly bigger at 90,000 but it just does not have the same aura as the old one...

  • used to hold approx 75000. After it gets refurbished, it'll probably hold more than 100,000.

  • qu est devenue la musique bravo a toi stephano96

qu'en vibrera t'on encore et encore

  • I love the laugh!!! And this song!! Ah ah aah!

    lol

  • l'un des auteurs le plus complet depuis bien longtemps avis aux musiciens en herbe prenez en de la graine

  • Świetny kawałek! Z pewnośćią dorównuje arcydziełom Genesis z lat 70. Demoniczny śmiech Collinsa, niepowtarzalna gitara Rutherforda i jedyne w swoim rodaju organy Banksa!

  • This was a great tour! I saw them in Feb. '87. Opening with this song set the mood for the rest of the concert!

  • i dont get the evil laugh in the song :O

  • The evil laugh signifies man's fall from grace in the Garden of Eden.

  • gooood =)

  • this video is beautiful

  • You shouldn't put down his "spooky" look during the chorus PresariaRoyale. That's just what he's meant to be in this. The song is about a young man who falls in love with a prostitute. He develops an Oedipal fixation about her so calls her "mama". She does not return his love and in so doing his love for her becomes darker, painful, almost cruel. Driving him to the edge of madness. The performance is meant to be highly emotional and very menacing in parts. He pulls it off wonderfully.

  • Thank you very much for that information, I'm a Genesis-fan from Sweden and since the middle of the 80's I've wondered what the song is about...

My favourite part is at 4:00-5:00.

    Thanks from Laban in Sweden

  • Exactly, hes pretty good at portraying the character too. and the lighting always adds to the overall feel

  • i did!!

it used to burn in my brain at night when i read a horror story

    And KingKrisp

he made be ugly but he has got fucking stacks more money than you doofus

  • i wonder how many children had nightmares after seeing this vid

  • sorry.. but it isn't for children! ;)

  • oh gee. just realized that this could very well be the coolest shit i have ever heard.

  • I love this song so much

  • my fav song. and uhhh why did he lick the mic? lol

  • This is a great performance. The whole crowd was into it. Although I have to say when he was licking the microphone with the possessed look on his face that was kinda creepy. Other than that this is a great performance and pretty awsome song.

    4 stars; My Favorites

  • Queen at wembley is best.-!

  • best songs.. this one and In the air tonight

  • The Best Live Version of this Song

  • @Genesis200000

Have you heard the song during the mama tour in 83/84??? He,s voice was better then

  • this song is about a prostitute o and ha ha haaa

  • did he change the lyrics a little bit? its a little unfamiliar...

  • ha ha ha

  • fuckin genius!!

  • lets go phil collins!!

  • Wow this is great!!!!

  • Viva La 80's

  • I love this song and remenbers me great time in my life!!!!wow!!

  • This is possibly one of the best songs of the Collins era

  • post gabriel hackett after that they became a hit machine it just was not the same after wind and wuthering but then this kick ass song mama comes along and bam it grabes you by your balls dame good song hell yes the clothes dont make the music they do who the fuck cares good song phill

  • 1987=height of Genesis' popularity and the low point in their wardrobe and hair. Nice mullet Phil, nice blazers on Steve and Mike. Must say I prefer the football shirts and beards of 77' to this Miami Vice menagerie. Song is too good though.

  • a dark,powerful epic,soooo cooool!!!

  • My father was there, and in the meantime, while they were playing this song I was born :D that's excellent feeling :D I love Genesis and this is my favourite song in the era of Phil by the mic..

  • Excellent!!

  • WOW!

  • OUFTI.....................

  • Merci nicolastek pour cette video sublime!!!!!

  • utterly unbelievable...

    so much passion

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • Absolutely GREAT !

  • I saw this tour in Feb. 1987. It rocked!!!

  • Fantastic song, thanks Nicolastek for the great video.

  • What a Way To Start a Concert like this Genesis Rules

  • i was at this concert and it was out of this world best damn band ive ever seen xxxx

  • Hell yes

  • Fuck yes!

  • I just saw Phil & the boys Live in Chicago Oct 2nd and they were great. Even 20 yrs after this concert at Wembley (which has always been my fav video by them) they still sound fantastic. If you ever get the chance to go see them, don't hesitate cuz it's well worth it!

  • there isnt a single rock singer on earth nowadays who is this spot on live. its all 'i had an off day' 'i didnt have a chance to warm up enough'. Which means 'i cant do what i do on the album'. Phil is spot on every show and thats what makes him the best

  • great song, great voice! where have the years gone?..

  • yo creo que en las tribunas hay como 70.000 mas las que estan en la cancha que son como 60.000 hay como 130.000 o 140.000 personas

  • oh i regrets i always have no chance to see them :( Hope they will come to Indonesia soon...

  • I watched this entire concert a couple weeks ago. I was absolutely mindblown. When it was over I just blankly stared at the screen for 5 minutes. probably the best concert I've ever seen.

  • phil collins- wat a gr8 voice!

  • i think its more then 100.000 just look at it its packed like hell >.> but i think whe can all agree this performance of mama is the best there is im wondering what the will do this year with mama

  • The old Wembley Stadium had a max capacity of 70,000.

  • There were 288,000 people at this concert

  • Wrong - that number was spread over several shows at Wembley.

  • Ah I thought it was a little off since I didnt think Wembley could hold anywhere near that many. There must have been about 100,000 in the show in the DVD though.

  • No - there were around 72,000 people there on each of four days. I was at the show - I'm somewhere in that crowd!

  • Quality poignant tune. Love how the drummer beats the hell out of the drums, what a crisp and awesome sound!

  • how amny are there???????

  • Wonderful :-)

  • wow I got this song on my platinum collection but watching it live is even better I just enjoy tony pressing the keys on the keyboard
